They are bombing the south of the Gaza Strip.

I would be wary of drinking his tea.

Israel's actions past and present are a causative factor in the attitude and response of Palestinian activists. Hamas feed from this and are prompted to barbarity by the influence of others, such as Iran. Some sort of military action was bound to happen sooner or later - it is the unexpectedly inhuman barbarity of Hamas' attack that has caught everyone off guard and ramped up the shock level.

35 UN workers killed in Gaza so far.

Nah, he's going to cook downstairs.

It is a war, both sides hate each other and I would not trust the Israeli military to play strictly by the rules by verifying their targets are 100% legitimate. But then again Hamas don't give a shit about such niceties, so whether by design or accident, such incidents are bound to occur, and in the confines of Gaza collateral casualties are inevitable. It is a shit show of 75 years making, and shows what a corrupting influence religion can be.

This becomes a circular argument going back the the Balfour Declaration and the establishment of the state of Israel.

Lots and yes. To deliberately target a civilian population, or to fail to minimise the impact of a military action on such a population, is a war crime. However, hindsight and revisionism are wonderful tools. What exactly was your point ?

Didn't think he had a heart.

Tellng the civilans in the north of Gaza to evacuate to the safety of the south, then bombing the south. On the subject of WW2, the allied strategic bombing campaign was arguably a failure. "Bomber" Harris rose through the ranks of the RAF in the '30s when the Big Idea was that "the bomber would always get through", and after a couple of pastings the enemy civilian population would cave in. It didn't happen in the Blitz, and it certainly didn't happen in Germany. Harris drew up a list of every German population centre over a certain size and systematically flattened them. When he got to the end of his list he went back to the start and began the process again. Even Churchill ended up casting doubt on the plan. For quite a while German military productivity actually increased as the level of bombing rose. Why was Dresden bombed ? It was 1945 and the war was almost over - it was done to appease the Russians. As with the earlier fire bombing of Hamburg, they knew full well that tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of civilians would die, especially as the city was full of refugees fleeing the Red Army. Just about the only time terror bombing has worked is the dropping of the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, ( which was the backup target, the primary target, Kokura, was shrouded in cloud and smoke and the bombardier on Bock's Car could not get an accurate sighting, so after 3 abortive bomb runs they diverted to Nagasaki ). The Emperor of Japan was advised that surrender was the only option, but some in the military tried to carry out a coup and continue the war.

Trump now denying that Sidney Powell was ever one of his lawyers....

You are a legal expert and those advising the Met are not ?
-
Much better than them 😉

I once played right back in a footy match at Deepdale.

America (Fuck yeah !)
-
The Met seem to have decided that nothing of that sort was going on.

What do you expect them to do when nobody is breaking the Law ? Both Blair and Cameron backed down from declaring Hizb-ut-Tahrir a proscribed organisation.

Technically the first point is true, the second is not. Hamas' declaration is that the state of Israel is an abomination because any land that has at some point been controlled by Islam is Islamic in perpetuity. Therefore the lands currently defined as the state of Israel are legitimately part of historic Islamic Palestine. However, they also state that "Under the wing of Islam, it is possible for the followers of the three religions - Islam, Christianity and Judaism - to coexist in peace and quiet with each other. Peace and quiet would not be possible except under the wing of Islam. Past and present history are the best witness to that." They recognise that whilst Islam is the one true faith, Christianity and Judaism are brother religions, the roots from which the true interpretation of Allah's teachings grew.

It was an ironic post aimed at the recurring exchanges on here between you and SOG. If Reform helps to bring about a truly proportional electoral system, bring it on.

So much that affects the country is out of the Government's control that whoever is in power only dances around the fringes. Wild swings from one margin to the other can never deliver. There are a few concessions to pander to their party faithful, but in general Manifestos are less a to-do list and more a 'would be nice to, but........ '. Electing a Government is any way more about the personalities and morality than the policies.
-
So would Israel be justified in completely wiping out the population of Gaza ? That would certainly remove the problem. Given that all a prolonged military response ultimately delivers is the next generation of terrorists, there has to be a limit.

The books that are transliterations of oral history and translated to suit a particular interpretation. Completely free of human error or bias. Exactly like the various versions of the Bible.

No. Your justification is that "the Palestinian people" voted for Hamas. There has not been an election in the Gaza Strip since 2006. However I will retract the point about "free and fair", and in it's place add this: in the aftermath of the 2006 election across Palestinian Territory, in which Hamas won the largest share of the vote, most of the elected members of the Hamas Government were detained by the Israelis. A few months later Hamas declared that they had unilaterally taken control of the Gaza Strip, something that the Israeli security services were glad to see because they could then treat Gaza as hostile territory, and towards which they they could dismiss any agreed peace or cooperation agreements. I ask again, how many dead Palestinian women and children balance the toll of Hamas' attack ?
-
Hamas were not elected by the people of the West Bank. Also, do you really believe that the 'election' that brought them to power was free and fair ?
