For anybody 'concerned' about the lack of confirmed transfers, check out what all the other clubs have, ( or more accurately have not ), done so far : http://www.premierleaguetransfers.net/your-club-transfer-news

Although I feel we may disagree on who qualifies as a 'benefits slob', though I accept they do exist, I otherwise totally concur with this statement

I thought this side story was more interesting from the perspective of a 'military enthusiast' : http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/picturegalleries/worldnews/9258110/World-War-II-RAF-Kittyhawk-fighter-plane-found-in-the-Sahara-Desert-in-Egypt.html?frame=2215708

Exit and Let Down, but I prefer The Bends as a complete album.

A London cabbie picks up an American tourist, who asks to be shown the sights. First off, the Tower of London - the yank asks "How long did it take to build that ?", the cabbie replies "About 10 years". "Would only have taken 2 in the States" comes the retort. A little later they are going past Westminster Abbey, again the yank asks "How long did that take to build ?" and the cabbie replies "100 years more or less", to which the response is "We would have done it in 10". As they drive past Buckingham Palace, the yank asks "How long for that ?" to which the cabbie's immediate response is "Bloody hell, where did that come from ? It wasn't there this morning".

So you missed my previous 'location' : 2nd Floor, West Stand, Bloomfield Road Stadium ? ( Plus there is a clue in the current one ). It really is where I work; I live 12 and a half miles away, and in the school holidays, when not driving my wife to and from school, ( how wicked does that sound ! ), I prefer to cycle to work. The route up the prom is great, apart from the 1000s of grockles getting in the way, and you need to keep off the tram tracks. When you get past Cleveleys it gets a bit rougher due to the 'seams' between the concrete sheets, so you get a rythmic bump as you ride over them. Hopefully a sunny, and not too breezy day. However, I have to admit that contrary to Dune's assertion's, I don't own a burger van, so cannot provide a free lunch.

When you know when you will be in Blackpool, make sure you let me know

http://web.orange.co.uk/article/quirkies/Politicians_want_men_to_pee_sitting_down " Politicans in Sweden are calling for new rules to ban men from urinating while standing up. The local Left Party on the Sormland County Council wants men to sit down to pee in council toilets."

How many more times will the most tested athlete in the world have to go through this ? Mind you, if there really is the slightest bit of truth in this, it throws the whole anti-doping regime out of the window - over 500 tests, all clean.

Go to Control Panel => System and Security => System and look at the figure for Installed Memory ( RAM ). From the Control Panel window you can also select 'Advanced system settings' on the left hand side; on the displayed 'System Properties' frame go to the 'Advanced' tab and click on the 'Settings' button in the Performance box, this will show the 'Performance Options' frame, again select the 'Advanced' tab,- look at the figure for Virtual memory / paging file.

But I am not an eCommerce company, just somebody who has worked in IT since 1982 and who first encountered PCs when they had 640k max RAM and 8086 processors, and many lacked an HDD - using 2 FDDs instead. I can also remember CPM and Windows 1.

Firefox, because it isn't from Micro$haft, but keep IE9 in reserve as one of work's VPN systems won't work properly with FF. Have looked at Chrome but didn't like it. Mind you, FF does have issues; it always seems to throw up incompatibility issues with plug-ins after upgrades, and I don't like the persistence it shows in trying to force you to accept the upgrades.

Should be OK with Security Essentials as well as McAffee. As for speeding it up, how old is it, what processor, and how much RAM ? The easiest gain is to increase RAM and possibly defrag the HDD. Another thing to do is check everything that loads up at boot time, use HijackThis, and remove redundant device drivers, etc.

Never said I was perfect, but how anybody gets caught by GATSOs is beyond me; they are painted bright yellow and prominently positioned, warning signs are posted at least a mile before them, SatNavs know where they are - as do road atlases, and you can even check their location on Police websites. Additionally, local newpapers tend to carry advance notice of the planned location of the mobile units for the next week. Claiming they are a 'cash cow' being milked is just sour grapes, you know you are speeding, you know you will be fined if caught. If you don't want to subscribe to the Police Benevolent Fund, don't get caught.

At least there aren't any accompanying YouTube clips.

Surely that reads that the budget was actually £7.3Bn, but they set aside a £2Bn contingency as costs inevitably increase to exceed available funding, so it isn't 'under budget', it's 'over estimate'.

But then again, good old Tux trumps them both :

Thomas Peckhart has just come on for the Czechs. how many other non-English ex Saints are at the Euros - I know Anders Svensson played yesterday.

Why bother trying to have original ideas when you can get elected by merely slagging off the other side. As you said earlier, all as bad as each other.

The 'bust' was a GLOBAL phenomenon, fuelled as much by the bubble in the US housing market as by the arcane derivatives trading and incestuous repackaging and reselling of 'debt as an asset'. It would have been beyond the control of whoever was in Government. There are possibly arguments about whether the economy could have been managed better in terms of it's ability to ride the storm, but they are moot, as I doubt Tory financial policy towards the City would have differed much from the Nu-Lab 'light touch' - the illusion of easy money would have been too tempting.

OK, let's put it another way - how many Conservative MPs in 2004, especially the front benchers, opposed the knighthood ? How may concurred ? How much of the media questioned the logic ? If the didn't argue against it, does this make them Tory 'thickos'.
