I wish nothing but the worst for liverpool, but would like to see Rickie be the one player who has a good season there. It does seem that he is still a bit in awe of where he finds himself.

BBC Article - The inside story of the great Southampton sell-off
KingdomCome replied to Donatello's topic in The Saints
Very good article, I just wish it were possible. I think the problem is that our academy is as successful as it is because of the investment and the staffing. I just can't see franchises having the same level of investment or expertise it has taken to establish our current set-up. Without this, they may get a few set up, but the interest would soon wane after it being shown to be less productive. Hope I'm wrong though. -
I'd forgotten about it to be honest. Just logged on and my subscription ends 15th Sept and the auto renewal was already changed to no. ...maybe there's plans to do away with it?

BBC Article - The inside story of the great Southampton sell-off
KingdomCome replied to Donatello's topic in The Saints
- The fact that it is "inside" suggests he has spoken to someone who is (or was) at the club. - The article is glowing in its comments about lallana. - It paints a picture that, if i was lallana, I would want to be known (or believed). - The details get much less clear about the period after the departure of lallana (or at least only then makes points that are generally known anyway) I think we can guess who ben smith has been on the phone to. I guess I find it hard to believe that after the length of time that lallana was here, he just said "alright chaps, I've heard liverpool are interested and I'm wanting to go" and then the board sold him without another word and gave him short shrift on the OS. Something else happened, and whoever is the "inside" person for this piece doesn't want it known. -
Love it

Christ you've got an odd perspective of what constitutes trolling. Next time should I write something like this?... ***PLEASE NOTE, I AM AWARE OF THE TRUE MEANING OF WHAT I AM QUOTING. THE FOLLOWING SENTENCE IS DELIBERATE MISUNDERSTANDING AND MEANT ONLY IN JEST. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE SERIOUSLY*** Less than 48 hours after RK said he wouldn't be leaving! More incompetence from the bungling board ***PLEASE NOTE, I AM AWARE OF THE TRUE MEANING OF WHAT I AM QUOTING. THE PRECEDING SENTENCE IS DELIBERATE MISUNDERSTANDING AND MEANT ONLY IN JEST. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE SERIOUSLY***

either that's double bluff or you're an utter doughnut. Why do you think I took the comma out?

Pleased with this. Seems a decent player and keen to impress and progress. Not a signing, but a good start.

They haven't been dating for 6 years by any chance, have they?

If this is ambition, I'm bloody glad!

I genuinely enjoyed league 1 and the championship. Worse things could happen.
-
And maybe sir could perhaps pay an extra lump of coal on Christmas evening per chance. Just a small one. Little Timmy lost his nose to the cold last December. It would be an elastoplast for a gunshot wound.

Apart from spurs fans

Not sure what the fuss is about. Pretty sure he's just had his world of warcraft account suspended.
-
Absolutely, it will not happen. The reason is fan apathy and acceptance rather than there being nothing they can do though. Agree with sky sports as well, I'll never pay a penny to them.
-
Excellent post, sums up how a lot of fans feel. The thing is the fans have ALL the power and can stop it in a moment. It would need to be a concerted effort though. Refuse to buy tickets or merchandise. Refuse to pay for sky sports. Revenues stop, the runaway train stops. As has been said FFP only serves to cement the problem. There is now no way to have the best team without a billionaire owner who's happy to pay the FFP fines. An actual wage cap is the only option I can see working. £10k a week is more than enough for anyone.

You missed one important word..."not". They have maybe spotted their error and corrected it.

It is quite telling that he says precisely what fans have wanted to hear for some time and few actually believe him. I'm not calling him a liar or "unaware of the full facts" when he made the guarantee, but I am definitely in the waitansee tribe

no need for that kind of language

I really want to believe this

Are they still loans or were they converted to equity? If they are still loans then of course she can demand repayment. She can't demand repayment of the loans that were converted to equity.
-
She can take a dividend from profits. She can demand repayment of loans made by her to the company (I don't think she has any loans though). She can take a directors loan, but this would be essentially pointless as she would have to give the money back. If she was looking to sell, she could sell the players so that there is significant profit. Purchase enough to keep the club going, take a dividend then sell what remains. It would be a useful method if she wanted to widen the pool of prospective purchasers as the club would be less valuable, but she would still have more or less the same amount of money. Dividends are a bit of a tax heavy option as the funds will essentially be taxed twice, once with corporation tax (making the profit) and again with personal tax (personal gain by taking the dividend). I'm not convinced this is KL's plan though, just explaining the possibility.

This thread depresses me. It's been kicking around for fecking ages and it's the only one about a player joining saints. It's like seeing the same second hand mondeo in the forecourt as you walk to work every day. An improvement on what you have, not that exciting...but you still can't get it.
