  1. My wife works in the NHS, at as high a level she can be without going into management (she wants to stay in a clinical role). And I have to say she and I are also of the opinion that the whole thing needs re-organised. Too much time is spent on managing and massaging figures to make it seem the service is achieving political promises. If some of that time and money was spent on clinical roles, the figures would improve. The problem with this is the hysteria that honest reporting of that data would cause.
  2. Well done to the guy. Aside from the potential impact on Clyne's career considerations, I couldn't care less.
  3. The possibility of reducing the NHS budget at Westminster to such an extent that it would be impossible for Holyrood to continue NHS Scotland is minute. Relying on a minute possibility as a reason for a given stance is just scare mongering. I can't remember if I said it earlier in the thread but it is akin to a guarantee to have no wild tigers in the streets of Glasgow. The very nature of a "no" stance is negative. Fairly obviously nobody is ever very happy with the current government and that is always the case no matter what colour the house happens to be. You can't please everyone all the time. So if the 'no' campaign tried to take a positive approach, outlining why the current system is good it would very quickly be ripped apart. The only way to argue for 'no' is to critique the yes campaign. This is what is being done but it is inevitably a 'negative' stance. Always trying to poke holes, signposting the pitfalls (as well as asking legitimate questions that remain unanswered). This is fairly reasonably seen as using fear. But there is effectively no other way to argue the 'no' stance. Btw in my last post I meant Scotland Act rather than Bill. Brain fart.
  4. "Completely" as in the whole of the NHS, rather than Westminster being unable to change that. The Scottish Government have tax raising powers. The Scottish Government set their NHS budget. How much of that funding comes from Westminster may reduce according to reductions made UK wide, but make no mistake, the Scottish Government has total control of the NHS Scotland budget, In theory Westminster could amend the Scotland Bill to withdraw powers, but the possibility of that is minute to say the least. As I say, using fear to further his campaign.
  5. No justification at all. NHS in Scotland is completely devolved and the Scottish Government as is already has tax raising powers to compensate any reduction in funding caused by Westminster reductions. I'm not saying the NHS in England and Wales is completely safe, but the NHS in Scotland is under no threat whatsoever...unless the Scottish Government chooses not to use the power it already has to protect it.
  6. over 3.5 thousand mph? Some way off that I would say.
  7. Salmond is straying into the fear approach with the NHS though.
  8. You forget how easily impressed the public are. "ooh he's got a nice tie and he speaks very confidently...he must be right"
  9. Yes...but we have shown it's possible to get up to where we are from the lower leagues. Granted it took significant investment, but that has shown to be lucrative for the owner. To go further is impossible due to FFP and requires spending money without any chance of return. Do people really not see that wanting a chance of competing doesn't require communism.
  10. Glad to see most folk see it was intentional. Of course he meant it. It came off the inside of his standing foot perfectly in line with the run. This meant his standing foot was in a very unnatural position (nobody runs with their toes out to the side). Then the 'mis-hit' has no power behind it to avoid over extension. He knew he wouldn't be making contact with the ball so there'd be no weight to reduce the momentum of his kick.
  11. Sorry, but that is utter @rse water. A level playing field does not mean nobody wins and nobody loses. Nobody is looking for a league where we always end in a draw and everyone gets a medal for trying, just to avoid any tears before bed time. A level playing field is where each team has the possibility of rising to the top. Not an equal possibility, obviously. The movement from lower league to the top should be open. If anything, a lack of movement between the "winners" and "losers" is what engenders failure. Why bother trying if there's no possibility of achieving anything. Of course there is the incentive for the players, but where's the incentive for the club? If there's no incentive for the club, then they will eventually stop the investment, the talent pool for the top teams to pick over will reduce and overall quality reduces.
  12. Good result. Great to see Pelle scoring. Didn't get to watch it so can't really comment. Good substitution by Koeman bringing on Cork it would seem. Good to see the ability to react to the situation. Great result for MK Dons as well. Lol.
  13. Disagree on Pelle at the moment. Too early to judge really but from the 2 games so far, he's a big step down. No idea about Gardos yet but if he is only a small step down from lovren I'd be immensely pleased. The problem is getting them to play as a team.
  14. Don't see the problem with the ice bucket idea in general or in Le Tiss nominating cortese. The main goal of the thing is to raise awareness and then funding. It's achieved both in spades.
  15. It's not a flaw in the system. The fact my iron can't wash my car doesn't mean there's a fault with the iron.
  16. Is that shots on target?
  17. 90 seconds to go, corner to west brom. 'tater: "this could be the turning point in the match"
  18. Certain goal denied by £10m
  19. Pelle disappointing so far, but he's not had much to work with to be fair.
  20. Smothered by west brom at the moment. Nothing too threatening coming the other way yet though. Get Long on
  21. Tbf, this rumour seems to be based on nothing more than the bit on afrikansoccer website. It states that the DM are reporting it but I've not seen it on the DM website (I don't buy it so don't know if it was in print) which in itself is more than a bit suspicious. I'd wait until it's reported by more than a bit part website before I'm concerned.
  22. Good player and time for improvement. Not a chance he'd sign for Saints.
  23. A lot of the 'hate' is not directly towards Boruc, but after the summer Saints have had understandable. It's an outburst of cumulative frustration towards players being unprofessional in how they go about pushing for a move. I think Boruc is a great character to have at the club and would be a very big loss, but not if he is being disruptive. If Boruc feels he is better than FF (I'm personally of the opinion that he isn't having been to a number Celtic games and watched FF play) he should be proving that to RK, not airing his troubles in public. If he feels he can't win that argument (and I can certainly see why he feels this) then he should either accept his fate for the next year and leave on a free or find a club who want to buy him, but not by moaning like a love-sick teenager on instagram.
  24. I've only watched it the once, so I'll take your word for it. Maybe down to the fact I was very nervous about SRL scoring against us so their play appeared more dangerous. Edit: Still think he'll get a fair few sub appearances
