The difference is nobody is saying Saints are going to be in the top 4... And yes i think we would all agree we should be taking more from watford and especially Sunderland but sometimes you can lose games like this. This is my whole point. If we similarly don't apply context to the situation Saints are in and we blanket make judgements on 4 or 5 games, then yes we are going to be relegated and we cant score goals. But this is a stupid assumption to make when the evidence says we have many international quality players who have been capable of getting into Europe 2 seasons on the bounce, there is a whole season still ahead of us and we are currently learning a new system which has already looked good. Likewise writing off Puel, the diamond or Redmond as a striker etc. because there haven't been a snapping of fingers and immediacy of result is another indicator of someone too easily suckered in by headlines, bad punditry and the sycophantic drama peddled by the Prem circus team. The minute people use their heads remember last season and the season before and stop listening to the headlines you can stop being so bloody worried, there is a long way to go and we are slow off the blocks but it's a marathon not a sprint etc. The other one that still shocks me is that keep hearing how magnificent Jose Mourinho is... well I could be missing something but I thought last season he spectacularly imploded at Chelsea after their worst start for years with a lot of rumours suggesting that he has problems with ego clashes with players. Some very well paid people are constantly spouting on that Man Utd are going to win title... recent evidence suggests that they may have bought some world class players but their manager is likely to fall out with them sooner rather than later and the core of the team has a habit of choking it in big games.

As i've said on another thread, I don't get the 3 week memory mentality most current prem fans have. I also don't understand why so many expert and pundits appear to be completely incapable of realistic analysis. Everton are going to be champions league and top 4 contenders because they have 11 points? This is whats currently being peddled as near enough a fact in the media and many are lapping it up. In context: Everton have beaten middlesborough, stoke, sunderland(A) and West Brom (A), Everton should be winning those games so it's hardly a revelation of Koeman being the next messiah. He could still come good and they may be excellent over the season, but to talk of them like they are world beaters is stupid when they haven't really been tested.

Saints beat Sparta 3-0: Post-Match Ecstasy
Mallagroth replied to Hamilton Saint's topic in The Saints
Take it from the people who were actually sat in the Northam end, no Koeman ass licking songs occurred. However even if they did occur somewhere else it would have just been a nod of appreciation and acknowledging Rons good luck message to Saints hours previous to the game. I swear some people just want to hear things so that they can put themselves on some elevated platform of better class of fan or something. The one that always winds me up is that normally after a game someone goes on about how classless and thick some of our fans are for booing the team at half time. Of course the irony is that the posters who moan about this have completely missed the fact that 'the booing' is 99% of the time directed at the ref and officials and always follows atrocious decision making that has turned the game. -
In combination of encouraging competition, being sensible and wishful thinking; -------------Forster----------------- Martina, Van Dijk, Fonte, Bertrand ------------Romeu------------------ ---Davis,-------------- Tadic-------- -----------Redmond----------------- ------Long,---------- Austin --------

Tadic loves a wobbly at any manager, it's just him, it isnt serious even if there was truth to it. We'll know it's serious when Tadic goes spouting off in the press here or abroad, because that's his style when he is ****ed off.

So ****ing excited right now... what a child.

I was going to post this yesterday: something has been missing for me, it started last season, didn't have the urge to do the aways as much, found myself paying a lot less attention to the whole game and circus. And I was there League 1 ST's away at cold nights at Dons etc blah blah, I generally remember it as being a lot more fun than the Prem, more games, intense football with high scoring slip ups, the prem with its tedious media overhyping that goes along with it has just beaten me down. The incredible buzzkill of the Internationals doesn't help. I find the whole reactionary attitudes of both supporters and the media just a complete ballache to listen to and it drags the whole thing down. If a team wins 4 games, the 'experts' then spend two weeks telling us that team is going to win the league... similarly with supporters who buy all the boloks. It's as if memories are only a maximum of 3 weeks long in the prem circus and no proper rational thought can be placed behind it or intelligent analysis. This whole attitude of immediacy of success makes the whole thing unstable and stupid and it bleeds into the core of the game and its teams, bonkers managerial sackings, ridiculously expensive signings because X player has been good in 4 games, the international team being selected based on the combination of who the Media and pundits currently fancies rather than a season of form (Rashford clamourings at the moment for example). The dodgy referreeing from before has become so much worse rather than better as if they are playing up to the whole thing and getting kicks out of 'the drama'. It's starting to feel at times like a WWE script both behind the scenes and on the field just so it can be called the most dramatic league in the world. In short the whole thing has become a mad parody of itself. This was what I was going to post yesterday, but right now I don't feel llike anything is missing because I'm just really fecking excited to finally attend my first live UEFA Cup game proper and for it to be at SMS with Saints. Long to smash one in, Van Dijk with a thunderous free kick and Austin to get a poachers special. 3-0 annhilation by Puel's warriors as the Diamond cuts through Sparta prague. COYR's

Eventually... Over two legs maybe we would have fared better. Just in case anyone forgot the amusing variations on the fallout... http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/row-zed/man-united-lose-fc-midtjylland-7397435

This is a fair point.

Makes sense with what I heard about the recent reclaiming of owner debts too... very intewesting.

Watching the Liverpool highlights was painful again. For the first time in a while I found myself wanting them to win even though it felt dirty, getting to a point where i'm starting to feel a strange affinity for them.
-
yeah that's it in a nutshell.

What did he say?

I thought we looked pretty great for the majority of the game, Arsenal obviously would have a period of possession and we coped well with it on the whole. Clearly the Puel diamond and system has potential but its all for nothing if he doesn't have the personnel to actually win the game up top.
-
We should have had the game in the bag, Long had three glorious chances, completely ballsed up both of them. Most strikers in any team in this league would score the many chances he has already squandered so far this season. Gut feeling is that we will have to try and stay in touch with the teams around us until January and they can finally do what should have been done and was obvious to every single person that doesn't have any control of transfers.

How the **** is that Puels fault you clueless bellend.
-
joke ****ing game, joke ****ing refereeing, joke ****ing league, joke ****ing selling all our goals and not replacing them. **** off.
-
well this is kind of how things are going for us huh
-
what the **** is wrong with Long this season?
-
heartbreaker game?
-
striker Les ffs
-
brace yourselves this could hurt
-
Holy **** that is a fatal remark to make at half time. I'm tempted to bang 4-1 on arsenal just because of this comment !
-
Yeah agree looking very nice until the goal and you can see the confidence knocked. We just need a win from somewhere and we will go on and be fine. Massive concern though is crosses both making them and defending them, seems to be our big glaring weakness at the moment, can't work out if its Forster not being commanding enough or just a lack of commitment to getting to the ball first in the area, cant remember a routine clearance from a cross into our area this season.

Cedric has been pretty embarrassing so far today
