Saints FC bra meltdown stories arriving from Martin Samuel and Neil Ashton in 5...4...3..
-
Osvaldo was only just out of that bracket... we've never gone for anyone this expensive so no comparisons exist.
-
Romeu does seem to have been on the Le Tiss diet...
-
It will remain to be seen if many people buy it...male machismo might well mean that the slightest chance of being remarked as being in a 'bra' will see this kit the lowest selling in our history...
-
Unfortunately we will just have to wait and hope, as the player will certainly have heard the other teams might be interested and will want to see what transpires.

On the plus side the white bit should look quite flattering on the chests of the female side of the fan base.

The Rather Previous 2017/18 Saints Kit Thread
Mallagroth replied to once_bitterne's topic in The Saints
think you can buy this one on the retro section of the site -
Yeah the first snap thought when looking at the shirt is that a white t shirt has been pulled up to reveal the virgin logo. I wonder if this was at all a thought in the design process and how much of a vote Virgin media had on the final design?...
-
Yeah the photo makes the fabric look like some nasty granny velvet.
-
would have preferred them to carry the white on and make the shoulders look like classic pauldrons (Shoulder armour) but I reckon this kit is a grower.

look in the background.

You are right but it is so crazy when the rest of the world would still take the lower values if it wasn't for badly run clubs like Liverpool immediately spunking what appears to be as much money as they can on average players. Throws the whole thing out of whack.

Boufal and Praet both believable targets, both look like they CDAJFU. Boufal I would guess is first choice, but Praet is begging Sevilla to come in/leaking that story to Saints in hopes we will make efforts for him first. If Sevilla were interested in Praet then why would his agents be working him to go to Saints...

I don't proclaim to know much but from my limited experience, one of Southampton high streets biggest problem is its business rates on units. Some of them are extremely high and unrealistic even in places not considered by the public to be prime. Consequently there are a lot of retail units sat empty on high streets with landlords struggling to find businesses that will stay in them. This is also why you see an increase in charity shops and similar because they have relief deals on these rates and landlords are better off having someone in their properties than no one. Add to this the accounts of increasing robberies. Unfortunately none of this makes the city an appealing place for Indy, trendy or upcoming businesses in retail and leisure to move into. These are the businesses which can regenerate an area and bring people in. Demanding top rent/rates in a blanket across the whole town just because Next and their ilk are willing and able to pay silly rates in West Quay isn't the way forward.

Palace have seen the writing on the wall and decided to do something about it, they don't want to get left behind and are throwing money to make sure it's not them.

To be honest I think i've had enough of gurning media ****s, giving the cheeky smiles etc. If Puel happens to be a miserable bastard but is going to deliver us a decent European run and exciting football then crack on, hopefully he tells the media where to get off en route.

This is an assumption that is probably wrong. Don't be offended by this but the manufacturer will do it's research and it's design department's ideas are likely to be a lot more progressive than your own (or mine for that matter) and their opinion and research of what's modern, 'trendy' and wearable is their job day in and day out. They also have to keep up with what other companies are doing and overall industry trends. However as with everything in 'fashion' it's a matter of opinion and the bodies it goes onto. Primarily the shirts are designed to look good on pumped athletes and that is their first concern.

Shaw, Reed, Chambers, Ward Prowse were all talked up. Shaw and Chambers got in down to a bit of luck because we desperately needed them both in at the time. Ward Prowse is where he was expected to be at his age with more to still come, Reed has been shut out by lack of opportunity from a host of fantastic midfielders that Saints have had over the last few years so we don't really know how he would fare. Under Poch when he did get a chance to play he looked very good.

thanks Ron

Just bumped into this again... was just as good second time around.

Can you give a run down/summary of some to watch out for and their positions as I'm well out of touch with the academy teams.
-
This is one of the most genuinely interesting posts i've read on here in a while. Definitely something in the theory and the argument for 'carrying' each academy player for one or two games. Finding that 1% is only going to happen by playing them, and as you say we may get lucky and they have a good couple game and we are quids in.

I'm informed that Kat has now had roughly 100Million back from of the club. I've heard it from someone reliable in finance. Take that info as you like, i'm not going to have a pointless argument about it's veracity with anyone.

Useless striker (not true), ****s it up for Italy (Zaza did the damage), the sooner he leaves the better (stupid), not being able to hit the target is criminal (no its just unfortunately something that can happen in a penalty shootout). I reckon those bits.
