Maybe we need relegation like we needed administration...
Wes Tender replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
The solution to leveling the playing field is simple, but I suspect that the vested interests would not allow it ever to happen. Restrict teams to only 3 or 4 foreign players. The additional upside to that would be that our national team would improve too. -
No.

Cedric didn't have a bad game today.

We didn't play badly for much of the match. I'm not certain, but I suspect that we possible had more shots on goal then they did, but mostly they were tame and hit straight at their keeper, although he did make a couple of really good saves too. The difference between the two teams is that their World class players will put away a chance, whereas our players often will not. Today we missed a play-maker like Tadic. Elyounoussi was supposed to be his replacement, but is nowhere to be seen. Is he injured, or just not considered good enough? Presumably Vestergaard is either injured too, or considered too slow against a pacy attack like Chelski's. It was good to see Yoshida back, as he at least does possess the pace to get back into defence and I believe that he could forge an understanding with Bednarek. But we have already had several different combinations across the back line and a more settled defence would surely be preferable. Discounting their goal in injury time, it could well have ended 2-2, as Ings' miss for his first gilt-edged chance was criminal. It must have been more difficult to have missed than to score. He also had another chance put on a plate for him and missed that one too. Gabbiadini also had chances, but shot straight at the keeper. We were certainly better in the second half when we had four at the back and reinforced the midfield with Romeu. A midfield comprising Romeu. Lemina and Hojbjerg is a solid one and I think that we should certainly play it against the glory teams at least. All three of them had a good game, as did Gabbiadini and Redmond. Hoedt didn't play too badly today, and made a couple of crucial tackles just as Chelsea players were about to pull the trigger in the area. If only we had found replacements of equal ability to Mane and Van-Dijk, we would have a half decent team. If we still had them, it could be argued that we had strengthened the team, but without them and Tadic, and capable replacements, we are are a poorer team, off the pace, lacking invention, pace and leadership. It's going to be a long hard season. Let's just decide to replace Hughes if we are in the bottom four by the New Year, instead of playing Russian Roulette with relegation like last season.

Where did Nick suggest that these people make up the majority of Labour supporters? A proportion, no doubt, but I saw no suggestion that they formed a majority of the Party.
-
I knew what you meant and I suspect that most others did too. Shurlock probably did too, but you know how he likes deliberately to twist things. Either that, or his comprehension skills are poor.
-
It's you running around in circles. You still haven't managed to point out where Nick mentioned the poor rather than the feckless. You do know the difference between poor and feckless, don't you? I'm quite prepared to make donations to charities supporting the poor, but like Nick, I wouldn't wish to donate my hard earned dosh to the feckless. Why don't you buy a mobile with a bigger screen? Or get your eyesight checked.

Trump and JRM have also praised May. How far right must she be, eh?

So just because it's called Sky News, then everything on it is actual News, no spin at all? Next you'll be saying that everything on the BBC is also only news without spin too. I don't recall wanting to rearrange peoples faces. No doubt you will be happy to post the comment. If I recall correctly, I might have said that you were always happy to hurl puerile infantile abuse at other posters, but that I doubted that you would risk doing the same in a pub. Typically, you probably twisted it to mean that I would thump you if it were me in the pub. I am not a violent person and would probably laugh in your face instead. I never feel stupid from what you say, don't flatter yourself. I have my opinions, you have yours. Sometimes I post things that I know will get up your nose, just to get a rise from you. It's fun. By the way, why do you always edit almost every post you make?
-
I asked you where he mentioned the poor. You can't answer it, apart from waffling on about what you think he meant to say - in your opinion. Likewise, I doubt that even the hapless and gormless Corbyn has a policy to redistribute income/wealth from the rich to the feckless, does he? That might appeal to the feckless voter, but nobody else. By the way, just something that I am curious about; why is it that you have to edit virtually every post you make?
-
Where did he mention the poor? I read it as the feckless. Do try and concentrate harder.

Bolton managed by BF Sam

May is certainly the worst Conservative PM in my lifetime and several of her Cabinet are lightweight, but the Labour Shadow Cabinet is easily the worst ever in my lifetime too. When you consider how the Lib Dems have been reduced to an ineffective little rump, it is probably the poorest collection of MPs I can ever remember. If they don't deliver a proper Brexit, we won't be seeing many of them in the House after the next election and good riddance.

My God!! I can't believe it!
-
Well, I doubt that we'll win the penalties
-
Shouldn't we have Austin on for the penalties if we survive?
-
Bloody typical

Why take off Gabbiadini for Davis? Why not Romeu?
-
You really can't help it, can you? I suggest you go and get some counselling
-
So you looked him up on Wikipedia, that well-known fount of knowledge and indisputable facts, and because they say that he is hard right, that's good enough for you. Are you a sheep, or do you have a mind of your own? I take it that you'd be happier with Corbyn as the next PM, McDonnell as Chancellor and Diane Abbott as Home Secretary?

Well, Sky, The Not Independent owned by the Rusky's, and the Mirror, is it? All leftie Remoaners to a man. He didn't apologise for his opinion that the Civil Service had an anti-Brexit agenda, nor should he; they have. He did apologise for attending that dinner 5 years ago and stated that he didn't share the views of Lauder-Frost or The Traditional Britain Group. Of course the left and the Remoaner establishment will try and besmirch him and other prominent Brexiteers, because they fear him. This isn't the EU Referendum thread. I will feel free to express my opinion from time to time, providing that you don't indulge in your usual MO of puerile insults towards those who don't share your opinion (as you just done to GM, by the way). I have never lost my temper on here; it is a football forum, for Christ's sake, so not worth getting het up about.

JRM claims not to endorse Bannon's views, but he must be lying, mustn't he, because he's "seemingly" pally with him "so he swims in similar, though not identical waters" That's a pretty weak conclusion, even for you. It couldn't be that JRM really doesn't generally endorse Bannon's views, but that you have mistaken his unfailingly courteous manner towards pretty well everybody as friendship, could it? I applaud JRM for being unrepentant in attacking the "deep state" Civil Service, especially those in the Treasury and dealing with the Brexit negotiations. As for the conspiracy theories and other falsehoods, how about furnishing us with some details instead of Chinese whispers?
-
Are you sure that he possesses that degree of self-awareness?
-
I quite agree. At the very least for away matches it should be an option

If Hughes doesn't rate him, then perhaps his judgement, (or lack of it) is questionable. As we have a weak and accident prone defence who aren't capable of the zonal marking that he apparently perseveres with, perhaps Yoshida could be included in a back three to bring in his intelligence, pace and experience, as well as crucially an extra body. Yoshida is good enough to Captain Japan, who performed really well at the World Cup, so he has leadership skills, but he is seemingly not good enough to either replace Hoedt or Vestergaard, or to play alongside them.
