Yup. We were mentally weak today - what struck me when Mane missed the attempted lob was that our heads dropped. 2-0 up at home and our heads dropped! We let Leicester come at us, let them build up the head of steam they've shown in every game this season and didn't show any authority on the ball. Plus point for me was Ward-Prowse standing up to players who would have brushed him aside in previous seasons. He's clearly been working on his physical strength because he was getting stuck in - at least in our better periods.

Jose Fonte signs contract extension until 2018!

Wasn't it because Adam had a better connection to the academy and could act as a role model? -
If anyone has a ticket going please let me know!

His very dodgy knee.

Think Lallana suits his style nicely and Clyne would be first choice under any manager. Whether he can get Lovren back into form is a whole other question!

If we do sell out I don't think it will be before the 16th

Can't wait for this. Klopp is so much fun

Gary Neville's spoken about this quite a lot over the last few weeks. He said compalcency could creep in with some United teams in early games but it would be stamped out quickly by Ferguson. That may have been Chelsea's problem a month or two ago but I don't think anyone can accuse them of being complacent this deep into a bad run. The Secret Footballer can't like us that much - or can't watch us that much - if he thinks this was the first time Pelle pinned down defenders and laid the ball off.

Schneiderlin started (and won) a Champions League game last week and has started most of their league games as well. Out of all the players who left, besides arguably a fit Shaw, he has the most secure position in any team. No one's a mind reader but I'd be surprised if any so-called defector regretted their move more than a little. Lambert will be upset by how it went but will know he could never have turned the move down. Lallana's had injury problems which would have hindered his progress had he stayed here, but he's played Champions League football and is doing well when he does get on. Shaw and Schneiderlin are obvious successes, Lovren is perhaps in the same boat as Lambert. Chambers may well feel he made the step up too soon, to be fair.

Our best player so far this season by some way.

Really? Can we sign them?

Expect there's gonna be a squad clearout next summer. Anyone we fancy out of those who may go? I suppose wages would make it impossible but Markovic was tragically misused and could make a good replacement if Mane leaves.

United. Well as we played, a lot of teams could have (and some have) beat this Chelsea side. That performance at Old Trafford took steel.

Jan Transfer Window One Realistic Signing Who Would You Buy
DuncanRG replied to ally_uk's topic in The Saints
Agreed. Unless we have a big injury (where a loan would come in useful) I don't think it's worth paying an inflated January fee. We'll have some work to do next summer though. -
Chelsea look far more beatable than normal. They may come out all guns blazing after the weekend but you'd have expected the same after previous poor results. Get in their faces and spook them with an early chance/goal and we could wrestle our way on top. Might be wise to play Romeu alongside Wanyama, not least because their midfield isn't ticking properly at the moment and those two could stamp them out nicely if Chelsea don't get themselves into gear. Other than that the only selection problem is whether to play Davis or Ward-Prowse in front of them.

I'll never understand why people get upset about this. We all want to see our team discussed but the big clubs and relegation fighters are the most interesting to the most people. I'd certainly rather watch City or Arsenal than West Brom. We'd all be bored if West Ham or other clubs similar to us were artificially pushed up the running order.

Ah, true. Bet he'd have liked to be on the bench though. Really miss Pochettino's attitude to the academy boys.

Where's Reed?

Hard to tell what's going on in the United dressing room at the moment but this game all of a sudden has 'bounce back' written into the script.

Gutted for Luke, what an awful thing to happen when he had finally got a run going in the team. He was playing really well, too. No consolation he won't be playing Sunday either, I was looking forward to it.

Nigel Adkins Interview (Saints YouTube channel, Monday)
DuncanRG replied to jawillwill's topic in The Saints
Assume this will be uploaded for good at some point and wasn't a one-off broadcast? -
I suppose Romeu does take the ball forward a little more than Wanyama but his instinct is still to drop close to the back four off it. Early days but he's not zipping the ball around like Schneiderlin did, and that's what you need next to Wanyama.

Playing Wanyama and Romeu together seems far too defensive to me, especially for a home game.

Not the greatest afternoon, but away draws are okay if you're not at your best. Especially since (from where I was, yet to see replay) we should have conceded a penalty and red card for that Targett tackle early on. Biggest problem for me was the tempo - we passed around them with relative ease but couldn't move the ball fast enough to draw defenders out of position and exploit the gaps. Ward-Prowse was the only one who seemed to grasp the need to up the tempo and had a really good spell in the second half where he was spreading the play and dictating nicely. Shame he ruined it with some mistakes late on. Van Dijk looked the business, but West Brom didn't really test him. I hope you weren't the guy booing and making w**king gestures at our players at full time.
