Post-Match Reaction: SAINTS 1-1 FC Midtjylland
DuncanRG replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Amazing how many people around me were grumbling about the need to buy when they'd spent the whole game moaning at players who we know are usually very good. They didn't turn bad overnight. What I'm most puzzled by is Martina and Cedric staying on the bench when we could have used attacking full backs. Perhaps Koeman wanted Yoshida on to defend set pieces, but Martina's a reasonable size too. Yoshida looked absolutely goosed by 75 minutes. The above point about cover on the wings is well made, though. Having Mane floating about the pitch and JWP drifting into the centre for tackles did leave Targett and Yoshida without options sometimes. -
Saints willing to listen to offers for Pelle?

Sam Wallace (byline on the Independent piece) is a good reporter. -
Very high indeed, if they are reporting that a move will go through. Most of the time they are reporting interest, bids, rejected bids or other steps along the way, which fans, for some reason, take as a prediction that a transfer will be completed.
-
No, they want to buy good players for their team. They're not bidding for Scott Dann so they can win headers when they go to Selhurst Park.

Happy to confirm that we are in no way ruffling Manchester United's feathers.

With all this post-defeat hysteria I'm surprised nobody has called for Jeremy Corbyn to take over as manager.

CONFIRMED - Virgil Van Dijk joins on Five Year Deal

Don't think Everton's an obvious choice there by any means. They're a bigger club but we've been better recently and have European football this year. He may also be attracted by Koeman. -
That is crazy, mostly because of how few we conceded last year with fairly marauding full backs. But Jermaine Jenas has identified an important flaw in our lack of defensive pace on MOTD. Having Bertrand back will help
-
I was expecting some hysteria on here, but bloody hell. Not watching the game but seen the goals - really poor defending for both. Romeu for Tadic is the right substitution.

ESPN - Is this really a sensible arguement.. Who are they kidding?

What's wrong with the article? Thought it was very good myself, and a point that needed making. We were all happy to gloat in 2013/14 when we had a really strong academy/English contingent in the first team. Now everyone seems to be acting like it doesn't matter. It's true that most of our best academy players have moved on, but I am disappointed we've signed someone to go in ahead of Reed. Pochettino had more faith in the young lads than Koeman does. -
Big positive for me was Pelle. He found his way around the front and influenced play wherever he went, linking up with the other four attackers as well.
-
Played there in the first half against Espanyol and did quite well. And still the club don't listen to you. We don't even need a big midfielder, just a small, possibly Dutch one will do.

Their fans made a bit of a 'zone' out of Guildhall square, though there wasn't anything extra there to accomodate them. Fantastic trip, lovely town and great weather for it too. Oddly enjoyed the pilgrimage to the ground on the flyover, though I wouldn't want to do it in the rain. Couldn't help thinking that might have been our fate if we'd built the ground at Stoneham. Did anyone else pick up a home end ticket at the ground then not get through the turnstile? Think the ticket office might have intentionally printed a bogus ticket, but the security were nice enough to let me in. Least I'd expect when a whole family in Saints shirts strolled straight in!

This is the sensible approach. Get a goal and it really is sealed
-
It's pace which is the difference, not the intelligence of movement. I suppose you could read 'relentless' in that way but Lambert was absolutely brilliant at finding space and making it for others through his movement.
-
"Under Brendan Rodgers, Liverpool had become a fast-paced team in which the forwards were expected to show clever and relentless movement, something that did not appear to be in Lambert’s armoury." Not sure I agree with that!

Post-Match Reaction: SAINTS 3-0 Vitesse Arnhem - Europa League R3
DuncanRG replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
I am only here to say that every player's performance tonight will decide the course of their season. -
We should sign Pele! If there's anyone who can fix his back problems, spin him round till he's dizzy and convince him it's 1958, it's Koeman.
-
I don't think managers have come up, to be honest.
-
Unless we get someone in the next day or two I'd rather play Yoshida, as someone who knows the team and has plenty of experience next to Fonte.

Could be worse...
