A lot worse for pubs though, and on the way home the train is usually full when it gets to Woolston
-
Just noticed there are rail replacement buses from Woolston to Central, for anyone arriving from the east
-
He's actually looked surprisingly good for Derby. I think we just massively misused him. He seems to play more the Azaz role for them, not stuck out on the wing
-
We played at Wembley on the same day as the London marathon in 2018, when we lost the semi final against Chelsea.
-
I especially liked how fussy he was about the correct position of free kicks and throw ins, which both teams would then totally ignore. And giving their player a warning after two fouls, then letting him do several more without ever booking him.
-
And yet our goals per game has leaped up since his last game for us, from 1.4 to 2.7
-
We've scored more goals this season than 4 of the 6 teams above us, and more than anyone else in the league since Eckert took charge.
-
I could see us getting to 70 points, that's basically a continuation of the points per game we've achieved since Tonda took charge
-
He's right though, it's clearly not a 4-4-2
-
Actually more surprising than that, he's not been sacked he resigned.
-
Maybe I've missed it, but not seen any talk about the horrendous tackle on Scienza just before half time. The referee didn't even give a free kick at first. Can't even see it mentioned at the time it happened in this thread.

There was one glaring one in the first few minutes. Received the ball facing our goal, no-one within 10 yards of him, passed it straight back. He has no spacial awareness at all.

Just in time to wear it in the cup match

As the post you were replying to said, we did change the formation. Fellows in particular was playing far higher up the pitch, with Stephens covering the right side of defence. Also, it's not the height of our centre backs that's the issue. It's the rest of our team, which we are trying to compensate for by playing three centre backs. Even then, Millwall had a significant height advantage over us. Outside of those 3, I'm not sure we even have anyone else that's much taller than about five foot ten
-
If have thought we'd be very unlikely to change the formation in the middle of such a busy run of games, even if Tonda wanted to. First chance to try anything different would likely be the FA Cup match.

Scienza on the bench, Robinson in
-
Fairly certain his shot just on half time (about 50 seconds in the video above) would have been a penalty if we had VAR. His foot gets kicked as he's shooting. He was telling the ref as they walked off.

The 5 yellow card deadline was match 19
-
They've lost 6 in a row away, although they've mostly been quite tight games
-
It might not be pretty, but the results would indicate it is working. I strongly suspect we aren't too bothered about teams chucking in loads of crosses from 30 yards out. We've got 3 fairly big centre backs who are decent in the air, and we've been soaking up the pressure quite effectively. It's notable that the Millwall winner came from a cross that was much closer to the end of the pitch. I think we'd rather our wing backs stood off a bit and let them cross from a long way out than risk them getting past them into more dangerous territory.

I guess he might have been on an individual training plan up to now, getting him up to full fitness

One interesting thing we did on Saturday, which I don't think I have seen before. We had a corner and pushed all ten outfield players up, with Bazunu on the half way line in case it was cleared. Not sure whether it is a good or bad tactic, but we'd never have tried that with McCarthy in goal
-
My dad is a season ticket holder and he didn't even know until about Thursday 😂
-
McCarthy would have saved that Doku goal.
-
If McCarthy was playing he wouldn't have come for that ball at all, and their player would have had a one on one from about 8 yards.
