I can remember the last few tournaments where we have been "building for the future" none of those previous next best things have really lived up to the billing so I am a little sceptical myself.

I think they just didnt have a coherent plan. What is the deal with all the fowards and no strikers. There was often no one in the box, and with no one in the box there was no one too pass or cross too, or to pull away the defenders for the fowards to have space.

Lallana looked effective when he ran at them with the ball. However he couldn't play his usual roaming game because Rooney was doing that but was fairly ineffectual. When ever I watch England I don't see what Rooney brings. Johnson didn't look like a player of the caliber needed for an international team. Central midfield looked pretty solid but the defence looked shaky detailing with through balls and had no pace to recover. And one more Johnson complaint when he got beat the central defender came out to cover and instead of dropping into the central position continued to pointlessly follow them wide, leaving a massive space in the middle, kind of like a reverse Danny Fox.

Before we were in the EU we had an Empire, but the people living there decided that they didnt like living under a system where people a long way away told them what to do and wanted to do it for themselves.

If they want to help sick kids in NHS hospitals maybe Portsmouth could have played up HM customs and excise when they asked. Or handed over fratton park to cover the bill.

Watching us play seems that we have to work a lot harder for each goal we score than the opposition, plus when they score we seem to give them an extra one straight away on many occasions. As if letting in one shatters their confidence. We looked great until west ham got a lucky break and then after that I knew we were in for a difficult afternoon and maybe the players have fallen in to that mentality too. We dont seem to have a game changer in our pocket either, as when we are chasing a game we often seem to shoot ourselves in the foot and let them double their lead.
