  1. How many other Kenyans have you encouraged to follow Southampton, I am expecting it to show up in Twitter hashtags or Facebook likes any day now!
  2. I worked with a Kenyan from Nairobi called Martin, he was a great bloke, he made the most amazing dishes from goat. Do you have any good goat recipes, I never got any out of him before he went to Harvard.
  3. Maybe this is why I shop on Amazon?
  4. Hughes has not exactly set the world on fire in the last few years as a manager. The premier league is full of examples of managers who have come in and "kept a team up" only to struggle the following year and bitten the bullet not far in to the next season. I have no input to the decision and now one is going to care about my opinion, but I think it is time to move on to an upcoming manager, not a been around the blocks a few times manager like Hughes is.
  5. We had a shooting at a mall here in Iowa a few years back. There was only one dead so it was only "local" news. But the shooter was a security guard who had been harassing a girl who worked at the mall. He walked up behind her and shot her in the back. Now tell me where are the good guys with the guns to defend against a sneak attack? It was funny (ignoring the terrible tragedy of the situation for a sec) watching the mall people talk about how to protect people on their property when the simple answer "have more security guards" was not a viable response. It gives me chills every time I walk past the spot it happened.....
  6. Absent a tonking by Man City (Who are quite good) we should stay up. That was pretty horrible sitting through just watching the score and thread updates online at work.
  7. When I brought my kids to see Blighty they were genuinely impressed by Stonehenge. As is it just up the road from most of you, it wont likely make the list, but I wanted to mention it....
  8. Is that positivity I smell?
  9. I have always thought that the point of 2 up top is to pin back the full backs so the central defenders are not left being individually one on one with the 2 strikers. This then lessens the being overwhelmed in the center of the park as the FB cannot be as attacking. (1 additional attacker removes 2 opposing potential attackers) This only works if 1) You have enough possession in the opponents half (to scare them) 2) You have strikers to exploit 1 on 1 ie very quick or 2 on 2 skilled or physically dominating. And if they do not look like being able to hit barn doors with bangos it is not going to stop the FB raiding, as even if you breach you will do nothing.
  10. I ain't hurt I am amused!
  11. Wow the stuff some of you throw around on here and then turns out you are all snowflakes.....
  12. Am I a bad person because my first thought was, "We dodged a bullet there" And my second thought was, "Actually Liverpool dodged a bullet there"
  13. My only problem with the movie was that I don't think Winston Churchill should sound like Austin Powers with out the "Yeah baby!"
  14. I always expected them to in some way make it more expensive for us to view, but with the quality on offer it makes it a hard sell when you don't expect to watch that many games because the wife don't let you....
  15. Been enjoying those revelations of that book, the number of people describing him as an idiot or stupid is amazing!
  16. Well I got back the cable, we are rarely on the regular TV so have not seen a lot of us this year, however we have been so woeful, not sure that is such a bad thing. However what I have found is that on my package the sports channels are available but not in HD. As there is really nothing I want to watch on TV and my wife wants to watch Judge Judy I will be cancelling again as soon as I get an excuse....
  17. Ok I listened to the podcast, and one he is a Wa%^% of the biggest order. Most galling was his repeated insistence that he was the best referee in the premier league. Game plan is fine, figure out who is going where and how certain players try to cheat etc, but to decide how you are going to call a game different to the rules as written is just horrible. He talked about how he was their to keep the spectacle of the game which said to me decisions go the way of the big boys because it is deemed better for the premier leagues image. He talked about fairness in a way that didn't seem very fair to me ie screw the non top 6 clubs. He talked about managing games rather than imposing rules. Your job is to impose the rules not manage a game. If the rules as written are not right, instead of individuals applying them in an ad-hoc fashion the rules should be changed. and secondly he is a Di
  18. Turns out calling people to talk about the loss of loved ones is hard. Salute the flag and screw the people!
  19. One morning while driving to work I saw a man wearing a balaclava and holding a rifle, in parts of the world closer to Britain that has certain connotations that instantly sprang to mind, and made me a little nervous. If this man was in an urban area he would have likely been shot, but in rural Iowa that was a normal Saturday morning during deer season.
  20. Actually I did buy my Saints shirt at Gatwick, when on a weekend visit to England while in Germany on business, but I might have been the only one...
  21. Well the power of tweeting has dissipated, I have been expecting this to happen so its rather refreshing.
  22. Well I think this week we might need some "presidenting" so waiting to see how it goes.
  23. I am wondering if Trumps whole stick is to just exhaust us all to the point we care no more. I have cancelled cable and stopped listening to the radio I simply can't take it anymore.....
  24. The streaming quality is always worse than watching on TV so I have never understood this big push as the "future"
  25. So I see that now nothing he does raises much of a comment anymore because it has become so ordinary.
