  1. I like the new sunny optimistic Alpine that actually think we have a manager worth poaching!
  2. That's probably more realistic he earns good, but has plenty of spare time to go down the boozer with all that time off he gets.
  3. There is a bit of imposed group think around here, if you don't have the same view point as a certain group you get hounded till you give up. Then you have those irritating trolls who believe so much in their freedom to spout off, but forgetting just because you can doesn't mean you should. But most significantly its probably because we currently suck and what new people are going to get drawn in discuss the misery that has been watching the last season and a half!
  4. I now see our problem. Only Bednarek is happy to be here!
  5. Roy Keane blaming "weak players" on the BBC. Who didn't predict this is how it ends with Mourinio? Maybe they should make sure to hire "strong players" as money isn't really a problem for them unlike us, or find a manager who can take these delicate modern players and mold them, as all teams are working with the same raw material its a cop out when you pull this stuff out. As you are judging yourself on a relative scale (league position) not an absolute scale this stuff is stupid pointless and misses the point.
  6. I could not resist sharing this with you guys [/
  7. I have never really been convinced by Cedric as a defender, and going forward he has blown hot and cold. What I have seen from the youngster so far makes me want to see more, and I expect him to grow as a result.
  8. One key provision of democracy especially the form that Britain has is that no law cannot be overturned by the passing of a new law. So if people choose to have a new vote and there is a different outcome that is consistent with the way it works. Just because we at some point in the past voted to allow slavery didn't mean the country could not change its mind and vote to abolish the same for example. Similarly by voting again at some point people could change their mind on this action, so this whole nonsense of we can't vote again is ridiculous, now how that works out in the end is probably going to make a bunch more problems. But it is not like everything is running with out incident right now. If for example the original referendum had gone the other way do you think UKIP would have been like "fair enough we will not voice any opinion or run for office we were wrong, and we won't ever ask to leave again" I doubt it.
  9. "The new boss was joking when he explained what a training bra is!"
  10. If the problem was really Puel, the players demonstrated it the following season when they all knuckled down and showed us what they could do right? Oh we actually nearly got relegated so.....
  11. I bit the bullet and stumped up the extra $50, hopefully they are a bit more entertaining this year.
  12. Fellow US based saint fans, how are you getting ready for kick off? Any notable changes in the TV arrangements for this year that anyone has seen? Recently had to pay a little extra a month to get the games in HD to make the games watchable (hopefully game play will be superior this year too) All ready to go?
  13. I think this year the benefit of the doubt period will be quite short, they are going to have to deliver quickly after what they put on the field last year.
  14. Nice idea, poor execution, and with real products (cars, blood testing devices) you cant BS like in software until you have a working product.
  15. From my time living in Southampton I found the attractive women tended to pop out on Southampton Common when the sun came out. This leaves me to believe that they must hibernate under the grass only to appear when the temperature reaches 26 C. As you are currently experiencing a heat wave I suggest that you head there. Football is not that complicated. You have to hit the round ball thing in to the rectangular netted thing. It seems to be basically understood by men who can no longer walk straight due to excess alcohol consumption. I am sure the woman can cope.
  16. Yes but the brutality was done very efficiently!
  17. I was amazed by the number of terrible penalties and the ones put down the middle. Once apon a time players aimed for top corners because the keeper could never reach it no matter which way they leapt (but risking embarrassingly ballooning it over), then it became all about game theory and right-left out thinking a goal keeper, aiming for the bottom corners, because that way you won't miss. Yesterday was all about putting it down the middle and hoping the goal keeper jumped far enough away from the ball to let it slide in where they were previously standing.
  18. Who was the last saints player that was brought in (that wasn't a youngster) that did not have a good first season and then suddenly became brilliant? If nothing happens after 1-2 seasons safe to say it is not happening. Potential and moments are all well and good but have to lead to delivery and with the premier league competitiveness for survival (Or is that their are a lot of terrible/average teams of similar dreadfulness) you cant wait that long for someone to deliver if you are paying good money, because you can use that place, wages and transfer fee on someone else. If you are wanting to use patience for players to develop it should be the ones coming through our academy. Its not like every player we sign is going to be a Mane or VVD, but we have to accept that some are going to be an Osvalso and move them along instead of waiting for them to "come" good.
  19. Well England cant lose to Germany on penalties now, we have a chance.....
  20. Was Mexico inflicted with the English curse of "only needing a point" setting up to draw and then getting smashed with no way to respond?
  21. I still do not understand the foul awarded to the Tunisians for the penalty. The ball is being crossed in, neither player in the box has control of the ball, the defender is penalized for holding his ground. How is it Walkers fault that the guy tried to push him and fell over because he was weaker? If this was a foul, then every time a player is sheepherding a ball out that the other team touched last, the player trying to get the ball should just fall over and win a free kick. Can someone explain the specific offence here I don't get it.
  22. This is why we watch world cups not the crap served up earlier in the day. I was expecting a nervous affair with both teams more worried about not losing than trying to win, boy was I wrong, yet still ended with a draw! If you up the number of teams you will get more crap and devalue the thing. I am for alowing people to compete but they have to be close enough on ability to create an intresting contest, although as watching Morocco v Iran proved it is still not great to watch if both equally bad. I suggest some kind of pre tournament to sort out the teams that should go, maybe speead across multiple countries, and divided into sections possibly by continent, and then into groups, with the best teams advancimg to the main tournament, oh they already invented that! Maybe some of the worst teams should have to pre qualify for this to make fewer lopsided match ups.
  23. Iran are terrible, Morocco only slightly better and have the goal scoring ability of Southampton except creating clear chances to waste. Now Irans turn at comedy shooting. Bofal must have taught them this way to play when he got his last cap.
  24. The Saudis have Clattenburg to teach them the rules of the game now, how can they fail!
  25. Which players coming from relegated teams have really lived up to the hype over the years. Roy Keane from Notts Forest is clearly one, but I struggle to think of many over the last few years.
