One thing to say for Sir Alex Ferguson was that when a player stopped performing they were out, no sentimentality about it.

Almost at the point where Chelsea have to be glad that there are 3 terrible teams, and one unlucky one below them...... When was the last time I "big club" got relegated from a top division (European included) without any financial problems?

...a team which deserves to be in the Premier League ?
Mystic Force replied to david in sweden's topic in The Saints
Fortunately they have away of deciding who is in the premier League. It is a points based system attributed by performance. If everyone who thought they "deserved it" it would be a very bloated league indeed. -
He actually played football till he was 16, when he had to dedicate himself full time to ice hockey. So I think it is unfair to say he knows nothing about the game.

I live in the US so I can offer some insight. The reason that Premier League football stands a chance against all those other sports is timing. It is on at a time of day when no other sport is on. Saturday morning is wonderfully clear of competing programming options. Similarly this is why European competition is less important here. It is on during the middle of a week day on obscure channels with a plethora of more storied European teams to stand out against. I just so happened to be listening to Ralph Krueger's Men In Blazers interview from May this morning on my way to work. And he set out their blue print for the US and it was to spread coaching football. Playing the long game, not only are they trying to develope not buy players it looks like they want to do something similar with support. Out here in Iowa there is not much support for soccer, but all the kids play it, so it will be these kids growing up looking for a team to watch that will be our future support here.

If he had asked i am sure one of us would have got the dog for him.

I particularly enjoy the personal message of appreciation of a person telling them how wonderful they are posted in a public forum so all the other facebook users get to see how amazing they are too. Thanks for that, I am not sure if they are showing off, but to see this lowers my opinion of them. Typing your own message is understandable I guess but then there are the lazy copy paste stock image type. Please I do not need to fetch up my dinner because you like someone. But then these types of people generally will also break up on social media so we get to revel in the mud slinging which can be entertaining. And the point scoring which is generally both parties racking up increasingly negative scores.

So if he thought he had been caught cheating the first time, he wouldn't have cheated the second time. Ok........

I love the phrase "top X" what that translates to is "X" here is a guide Top 7 = 7th Top 6 = 6th Top 5 = 5th Top 4 = 4th Top 3 = 3rd Ever hear someone say we are in the top 5 when they are currently 3rd? Thought not. It is like Pompey saying we are in the top 4 divisions.

Does there need to be a new European League
Mystic Force replied to Mr Biscuits's topic in The Saints
So this got me thinking, IF a European super league formed outside the existing governing structure it would be likely that those players would there ability to play in international competitions, no longer representing there country. How much would that cost? To buy someone away from the prestige of representing their country. Initially it would be a big deal, but over time it would mean international competition would be less prestigious without the best players. I can only think of one remotely similair example and that was Rugby, where amateur union players left for the money in league, but then lost out on the chance to play for country in the more prestigious union internationals. My second thought is if it was a closed shop, Arsenal say, could do a Florida Marlins and buy cheap players and just collect the money from the big TV deal, with no threat of relegation to keep them honest. And finally not all the big fish are as big in a pond with only big fish. -
As a game it has been a pretty boring to watch.

Screamed some obscenities at Pochitino when that equalizer went in. Bournemouth West ham must have been quite a game to watch even the last few minutes they showed was tense.

Attendance figure for home game v FC Midtjylland

Whats embarrassing is to say something stupid and then for everyone else to point and laugh. However we are not the ones feeling a sense of shame. -
Yay I am part of a mega thread.

I read all of consortium11's posts. It took me over an hour with interuptions, because my family wanted to know if I was still alive. Anyway what I took away from it was that we need to be like Scipio Aftacanus and burn down Singapore to remove Manchester United's source of resources.

It doesn't look bad, if you are a small buisnees from a provincial city. However if you are a professional sports club with delusions of grandeur, it kind of looks a bit pokey.

Predictions on which defector is going to be shipped out by their current club first anyone? (Excluding Lambert)

Maybe dubai_phil's golf stories break some local law, we can but hope. If i posted something in another country and then passed through UAE would we liable? A lot of posters on here would be jailed instead of banned until they got a new email address. I am not sure how anyone can be condemned for pointing out other peoples breaking of rules.

Having met some greek people and there attitude towards government i am not supprised how this went down. They dont have enough money for there country to function, so they borrowed. If they default no one is going to lend them money and they wont be able to pay for anything still.

How a Billionaire Heiress Cracked the Premier League Boys Club
Mystic Force replied to krissyboy31's topic in The Saints
Since moving to the mid west i have learnt that 200 miles is a short day trip. They measure distances in number of hours it takes to get there. As an ex pat living in the USA, and former Southampton resident I feel like I might be able to help out Californian friend with english-american cultural translation. Although somethings have occured since I was last home, I do not remember "chav" being used for example. -

So for someone who works so tirelessly to provide sources and reasoning i had to have a laugh at the hilarity at your misinformed understanding having never been to Southampton. So here are some pictures to help. Here is a seaside town called Exmouth, home of Jack Sparks. Note the sand. And here an overview of Southampton water, the city occupying the area between the confluence of the two rivers https://m.flickr.com/photos/snapperz/5037015875/ -
I wonder sometimes if we are playing fewer youngsters precisely because their heads might be easily turned and we want to wait till they are more mature so they dont want to leave after being hyped for 3 good performances.
