X= The number of transfers for 10-20million pound players since Mitchell left that have become successful (Criteria for success being sold for more money than purchased, playing regularly and having positive impact, not being put out on loan) Y= Total number of players in the10-20 million pound range since Mitchell left. X/Y=p I think you will find that "p" has not been so good recently, so if we have not seen something yet, we are probably not going to. If we apply Bayes theorem this will give us our prior probability as the reference class (portion of successful transfers) then we combine the posterior probability (anything that Salisu has done, which is currently nothing to indicate either way) therefore we can deduce that it will more likely be a non productive transfer. And anything Salisu is capable of does not figure in to the prior probability, but if it did you would have to remove it from the posterior probability thereby making no difference.

That was a long 4 years. Back home you still get to figure how Brexits going to end up, but for me I am ready for some normal boring politics for a bit.
-
On the balance of probability over recent times, it is more likely that this will have been a non productive use of 10 million quid than a productive use thereof.

I liked Bad Taste, thats a classic.

I think the men of Kent were famous for rebelling and marching on London during medieval times. Including probably one of the best known, Wat Tyler, although he started in Canterbury not Maidstone.

When the hero is being framed for something, 50 cops show up instantaneously instead of them being told sorry we do not have enough officers to deal with that right now, and the person reporting it should come to the station in two weeks to fill in a form "when someone will be available"

Left protest a few years ago with the occupy wall street movement and this summer's occupation in Seattle does give some cover for the Trump nutters, at the time I thought them stupid because the occupation of the territory ends up becoming more important than any message or policy that was originally being sort. Trump had managed to turn every leftist complaint into a Trumpist cause, repurposing the fake news from Russian troll farms and click bait story mills for advertising revenue to being leveled at the mainstream press, and the pushing of Russian election propaganda converted to made up Democratic election fraud. I am very much a centrist, and the Republicans have moved far of to the right at this point and I am not sure they will be back for a while.

In a rational market the value of good and services would adjust to the available income streams to cover it. However football is never rational so we are probably all f......

Despite agreeing mostly with the Democrats position I would not use the words courage or principles to describe either of them. Pelosi should have been replaced after the 2010 mid term defeats and let someone else lead them. To keep the same people in charge for so long has made them look stale and bereft of talent and ideas. It is styming the next generation of leaders that they can run for the top job. When you look for who they might go to after Biden, there is no list of competing candidates waiting to give it a go. For all the craziness on the other side you can point to a list of potentials waiting to give it a go.

So in the US they have felony murder laws, that means you can be held responsible for murder if you are a committing a crime and in the course of this someone is killed, normally this is used in things like armed robbery, where the getaway driver gets convicted of murder while remaining outside the store. This has included when people defending themselves or the police have shot people perpetrating the crime and the other group members get charged with their death. So what we have is 10,000 people commiting a crime where there was a death, so that would make them all murderers by laws here, as long as they are not police officers of course.

My concern right now is what we saw yesterday was like the failed Beer Hall Putsch in 1923, which will fester and embolden people in a few years to do something more. The way this went down makes me think of some of the way some police officers in Northern Ireland were involved in loyalist paramilitary groups.

When he crosses the Rubicon for his attempted coup, he expects to find Rome waiting for him!

I have a 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid with active cruise control and lane keeping assist, for those long distance road trips on the Interstate it is not very mentally taxing so you can drive for hours without feeling it.

I think its important to understand there is a difference between not liking an outcome, but accepting it and believing it to be illegetite and trying to stop it by force. And there is a difference between trying to overturn a vote that has been held and working for a different result next time by persuading people to vote differently. If an effective authoritarian comes along, the game is over for the US being a liberal democracy, it has been shown that the system could be easily kicked in.

And I thought it was a Democratic hoax, now the conspiracy will be that it was engineered to target Republicans (or Old white men)

They did such a good job of stealing it they left no trace to find. The fact that there is no evidence is clear proof it happened, right? Because how else would they expect to get away with it!

Well they are in the process of finalizing administrative rules that will allow firing squads for death penalty (because they are worried about the availability of chemicals for lethal injection) . I wonder what the statute penalties for treason currently are?

Single best comment I have ever read.

If you have Audible and would like to learn more about you can listen to... The Beautiful Brian by Hanna Walker-Brown, which goes into this in detail, covering the science and the personal stories of footballers. It is not just about death, it's about the quality of life of the people affected before they die, their mental decline and the effects on those around them. Once upon a time we were ignorant of the consequences, now we are not, at that point we should be duty bound to do something about it. Various forms of tackling were outlawed because of the damage that can be done, it does not seem unreasonable to amend the rules in other ways for less easily visible harm to the participants.

There has been extensive investigation into this and many documented cases (famously Geoff Astle amongst them) In the past balls were heavier but the on going danger that is up in the air as the balls are different than in the past, but the power that modern professionals can achieve is greater than in the past through advances in conditioning. What causes the damage is the brain sloshing around in the head, caused by sudden energy transfer (Therefore helmets are not really useful). I think they have restricted heading in younger age groups, but it's definitely a problem that needs to be addressed.

The next would be authoritarian is taking note and getting ready. We have seen how easy it would be. All they need is some competence and patience and the system can clearly be broken. The much vaunted checks and balances would not take much to breach, if you can move the right people into the gatekeeper positions, and with the way the system works here that is possible, all sorts of stuff could happen. This is definitely the D-list of operatives running this thing, I worry about what an effective group of people could achieve. The latest nonsense coming out is an influence peddling plot by Venezuela, Iran and China, I thought at the time Republicans had a self interest in securing the country from foreign election interference, because one day it might be turned against them, but they choose short termism instead. Until they need an argument. The other conspiracy theory doing the rounds is the voting machines. Back in the 2000s when electronic voting machines were being introduced with federal money after the debacle in Florida in 2000, there were arguments over whether they should have paper back ups or not for auditing purposes. At that time Republicans opposed that idea which Democrats were pushing for (and with Republicans in power at the different levels of government at that time, they held sway). Now after the election they lost some of them are crying foul. Seems ironic if you remember the history of how this went down.

On the topic of ID, I have been attempting to get a new west virginia drivers license as I recently moved here, Iowa by comparison is very straightforward. First I had to try to get an appointment, there were none available in the county I reside in till mid January, so i got one in a town 1hr 20 min drive away on very twisty roads which induced my dog to start puking. When I get there with my bundle of paperwork from my just purchased house, I do not have the right paperwork to prove residency (because I dont have 2 utility bills yet or some such) So the next appointment I can get is in a different location still over an hour away in late December. Now I am not trying to vote, I am not a citizen. But if you have to drive to out of the way locations to get ID, and you don't have a car you are unlikely to bother.

This is what seems to have happened in America. Once upon a time people agreed on the objectives, but disagreed on the way to get there. Now they also disagree on the objectives. Biden does not come out of this election looking strong. This election has moved the overton window, the fact that after all that has happened it was still this close suggests that people have a tolerance for incompetence and dishonesty, as the only thing important to certain sections of society is to make liberals cry. Next you need to understand that what the word liberal means in america does not cover the same territory as the word does in the UK. Liberal basically means not conservative, and american conservatives start a lot further right than the Tories. Liberal is used to encompass socialist and moderate conservatives. Harris is not very liberal, she is generally disliked by the social democrat part of the media. She is a main stream corporate democrat like Biden. I am just glad it is nearly over its been exhausting.

Its more that some state legislatures refused to adapt to the prevailing circumstance for whatever reason. Other states were able to process ballots earlier and reported results sooner.

That cartoon is probably the best commentary I have seen on the election. I admit I got the result very wrong. The problems seems to be the democrats bet the farm on Hispanics, In the process they turned off those white voters, but the Hispanics were not as loyal to the Dems as they expected. To be so close when running against this shower of garbage, who mishandled a crisis show just how bad the democrats are at picking good candidates for president and how shallow the bench was for quality. When watching the debates Biden could never actually deliver a clear reason he would be better, they just played it low key.
