Well my thinking at the time that it was madness for a team just finished 2nd and heading to the CL to be buying a 32-year-old centre forward in the twilight of his career ahead of a major European campaign. But then his signing for them was never about football as we discovered afterwards.

I may be proven wrong but that seems highly unlikely. They wouldn't pay him THAT much more than we are, and it would virtually guarantee he doesn't get another chance at any Euro club competition as Everton aren't qualifying anytime soon based on their current situation, and I reckon this will be our one genuine shot for a little while. But I thought the Lambert to Liverpool rumours were absolute rubbish when they first appeared, so what do I know.

What's wrong with that. If we know they're going why not get rid at the earliest convenience? Why should the club waste its money paying a player for an extra few weeks, paying a team of people to support and train that player for that time, and paying to move that player from place to place for pre-season activities. Let their new employers pay that. How much was saved by offloading Mane, Wanyama, Pelle et al early in the window? I'd say a million at least. Yes it's a pittance in the overall scheme of football finances, but a penny saved is a penny earned.

Two points. 1) Can he do it on a cold Saturday night in Stoke? and if so.. 2) I am so jealous of Stoke's transfer dealings.

It's a big wrap but to suggest a year ago he was better than Erikson seems a bit rich. Erikson has been superb for Spurs. But he's young and apparently talented. Just our sort of thing.
