I said only a Wembley appearance would make up for our Europe exit. Job done. Tactical masterclass from all involved. Presume we now just let the kids run out against Arsenal and focus on the league for a bit now that the schedule has relaxed finally.

Liverpool vs Saints - EFL Cup Semi Final 2nd Leg - Match Thread
GarrettIvo replied to Dalek2003's topic in The Saints
Tadic's shot was on target, and but for Karius coming right off his line to block it with his arse it would likely have gone in. You mong's complaining about how he should have chipped it would just complain about Karius clawing it away anyway. -
At least two that I can remember from right on the goal line. Can't remember which games, but I don't think we won them.

Well played.

Depends if they get 2014/15 Saido, or every other season of his career so far Saido. Potentially very good business for Stoke. Or a total disaster.

It's hard enough watching Saints in Australia these days. I'm not losing more sleep to watch Spurs too. If Rose has improved recently I'll accept I'm wrong. What I do remember is he was woeful at the Euros, and in other England appearances.
-
At his best he - like Bertrand - would be a vast improvement on Danny Rose. Let's hope neither of them end up there.

Also, I apologise for the abuse. I tend to agree with others that the time to have looked at these issues was during the summer, but the club chose a direction they thought would work. Turns out it didn't quite. People will argue Austin was always an injury risk, but noone would have expected him to do his shoulder. So be it. And I don't think it was wrong to expect Long and Rodriguez to score a few more, backed up by our midfield. We have ****ed away a lot of chances this season in all competitions, which goes someway to explaining our position. Also, our goalkeeper has turned to ****, which has cost us points. I'm still most annoyed about our EL exit. A failure entirely of our own making, and one which only a Wembley trip will put right in my opinion.

You didn't get drawn into anything. You willingly chose to participate. You claimed CB Fry was hearing voices in regard to the manager and board sutting down to discuss possible signings, and suggested he imagined a day it might happen, ie Monday. The information about said discussions came upthread, via a tweet by a journalist in discussions with Puel, presumably post Norwich. Not that CB Fry needs anyone defending him, but he made the reasonable assumption such a talk might take place on Monday. That's when most post-match discussions take place. He also correctly (again) points out the people hired to deal with scouting will have been doing their jobs behind the scenes, and there's no reason for the manager to be hands on with this until such time as a deal is almost over the line. Any deals are again almost certainly going to be in the last week of the window. That doesn't mean approaches haven't been made. Why do you assume the club isn't doing all it can behind the scenes to address our issues. We've all been around long enough to know the club does its business with cards close to chest. Why do you think they'd change that process now? Or would you rather we whored ourselves out like West Ham. I too will be annoyed if some reinforcements aren't found by the month, but I am prepared to wait till the end of the month. Relegation is the least of my fears. I would love to debate more but I'm not inclined to pay my subscription for another week or so.

Can you change your name to Give it a rest by any chance? ****ing loon.

But all the mongs on the mongboard don't think it's occured to anyone on the board to consider adding some firepower this window. And the mongs are never wrong.

What if we finish 9th/10th and get a Wembley day out as well?

Maybe Les didn't hug him enough?

I would hate to go through life without a glowing endorsement from Steven Gerrard. Seriously.
-
A million years might be a bit late for this season, but you are probably right.
-
More or less the sole reason Sunderland has avoided relegation the past two seasons. Can score from others work, and create a few himself. Also better on penalties than anyone in our squad IMO. Would happily see him swap their red and white stripes for our slightly different red and white stripes.
-
Yes that is EXACTLY the reading I would put on this situation.
-
Jay Jay Jay. That was it. They will win this now.
-
We really need to avoid doing anything stupid here. Long lucky.
-
Agreed. Be much nicer to still be in the competition in the lead up to those matches though. Let's all give up now.

Saints 1 Hapoel Be'er Sheva 1 - Match & Meltdown Thread

Pretty much. We had the players out there capable of doing the job, and they bottled it. Moan about the lack of end product, but who was making an effort to create anything? Bertrand's crossing was garbage. Cedric put in a few but otherwise average, and we didn't seem to want to run at them through the middle. **** it. No point crying now as it's done. Move on to the next disappointment. As for the manager, he was brought in to guide us through this competition, and he has failed. Going to have to put together a pretty decent league campaign from here, plus hopefully a League Cup final at least. We shall see. -

Pretty lame. At least Redmond will run at them, but aside from that he's been not good. Sims possibly worse. Would love to see them stop turning backwards with the ball. Hojberg seems to do it all the time. I think we miss Tadic really. At least we're comfortable defensively. -
We can all flock together on this?
