id put him as a far better Eddie Howe, given he took RB Leipzig, who despite their money are practically a new team in Germany and took them to 2nd place... although tbf it is probably far easier to do that in Germany than it is for Howe (or any other PL manager for that matter) to break the top 6.
-
zidane to spurs, surely not... his stock is unbelievably high after what he did with RM. reckon he'll wait and play his cards right.
-
maybe we should just scrape 17th place for the rest of the season on purpose then Utd and Spurs can fill their vacancies up and not touch our Ralph because of this season... and then 2019-20, Ralph leads us to the PL title in a (not so) massive shock

Cedric for now when he comes back, Valery in the long-term!
-
in the league, yes- but we won with 2 games in a row earlier this season when we beat Brighton away in league cup and then Palace in league a couple days later ;) Think he means 2 centrebacks rather than 3 centrebacks, so a back 4 with 2 cbs.

Saints 3 - Arsenal 2 - I should start threads more often

literally on the drive home now- that was amazing! The last time I came home this happy was the 4-1 win over Everton, so well over 12 months ago! My ratings, if 6 constitutes average! McCarthy- 9 Valery- 7.5 Bednarek- 9 Yoshida- 7 Vestergaard- 8 Targett- 7.5 Romeu- 6.5 PEH- 7.5 Redmond- 8 Armstrong- 7.5 Ings- 9.5 Austin and Long- 8.5 (both did what was needed!!!) That does so much for confidence and momentum, let’s go and get 6 more points versus Huddersfield and WHU and really get ourselves out of the bottom 3, lots of work to be done still. Cannot wait to go watch our next game now, jealous of anyone going to Huddersfield! -
"The guys have invested a lot this week; we are talking about a style that has many new things for some of them and it is a process that doesn't change just from one day to another." More when he said this! I do admire Ralph’s optimism though- he knows he has a challenge and is truly embracing it. Feeling weirdly confident for this one- just wish it was a Saturday 3pm

Is it me or does Ralph look like he has just realised he was sold a dream by Krueger and in reality he has been dealt a very sh*t hand with the personnel we have!
-
more due to his Europa League rotation policy.

yeah it was a pi** poor amount, but didn't he break the Dutch transfer record anyway? dutch clubs are known for paying notoriously low amounts- i think him or daley blind might be most expensive dutch transfers ever!
-
clickbait.

i feel like with the wages we pay, most players are just happy on their contracts that they no longer care... if i remember correctly, wasn't Alderweireld on just 40k a week with us? Clasie on £30k? I think Fonte was highest paid with £50k back in our 2014-15 season... now even the average ones like Shane Long are on that, as is Jack Stephens etc etc...
-
in a way, I think this could be a positive we all know he needs a run of games before he is up to speed and decent- he starts for Japan I think so maybe putting him in a competitive environment in tournament football when games come thick and fast will do him some good.

Southampton’s Chinese video campaign nets 68m impressions

the Chinese do have one of the strongest defences in the world... it could be our new tactic -
Possible re-siting of away fans at SMS

but that is the thing though- it is almost 2019 now and our days of hooliganism is over (minus the Sterling debate), so logistical problems should be almost redundant I feel we should move them to a corner, a bit like Leicester, somewhere maybe in the Kingsland corner... it isn't like by moving them there sees an increasing in stabbing is there? s mind you though, we weren't having these discussions 3 years ago when we were actually any good.... it all seems to have gone wrong when virgin decided to subsidise the away fans/starting sponsoring us. -
well the end of the 2016-17 season saw us use Cedric, Stephens, Yoshida and Bertrand... it wasn't amazing, but it did a job. and if rumours are to be true, then Bertrand aside Stephens and Yoshida are certainly likeliest to show the 'passion' that we all want... I always like to see how a team does after players or managers leave, and Vestergaard's former team now sit in 2nd position this season... so what does that say? I also always had my doubts of buying someone who cannot even make Denmark's national team, given Kjaer was there I do not particularly rate... again it is a hope he comes good, but I do not have faith he will. Wesley Hoedt was bought in to play with 'VVD' and he is the one who I think can still come good, maybe if he was to get on the weights some more to have that stature that he lacks. Bednarek came in towards end of last season and actually played decent at times, so much so that he ended up starting for Poland in the WC. I have a feeling that it is a confidence issue for a lot of these centrebacks, just need Hasenhuttl to work his magic in restoring this and actually drilling some defensive nuance into them

I would move away fans, to where block 45 is all the way up to block 1/block 2. the issue there of course is hospitality I believe, and I'm sure there are other logistics. -
according to the Daily Mail, Victor Moses is available for £12m. that could potentially be decent, versatile as he could replace Cedric or even play as a right winger with that much needed pace. if Cahill is also available on loan, then I wouldn't mind that.
-
in our 2015-16 season think we were on a run of 5 without a win before we beat them on boxing day 4-0. wouldn't mind a plot twist like that again on Sunday
-
McCarthy Cedric Stephens Bednarek Bertrand Lemina PEH Redmond Armstrong Elyounoussi Ings Honestly how I miss the likes of VVD, Fonte, Tadic and Mane...
-
we should not be 5 points behind Cardiff, yet we are. awful, awful and awful once more. honestly if I had foresight then I wouldn't mind going down and getting promoted again the way Newcastle did in 2016-17...
-
woeful defenders, woeful attackers. Ings, Bertrand, Cedric really need to come back in. Redmond shouldn’t be more than a sub, Austin too. Ralph you have your work cut out.

Unforgivable

my guess is that it is a 433, that's what he said in his presser on Thursday that he can play a 433/343 if his preferred 4222 isn't ready. Lemina likelier to be the more advanced of the midfield 3 too probably.

Mario Lemina after Hughes got sacked posted on his Instagram saying 'thanks for everything mister, I wish you the best for your future'... and he on paper is arguably our best player
