PHIL MERSON: Cardiff 2-0 Southampton There's a new man at the helm at Southampton in Ralph Hasenhuttl but I must side with Cardiff to win this game. Saints are bringing in a manager who has never experienced the Premier League and I think there's a rude awakening coming on Saturday. Southampton may have let slip a two-goal lead against Manchester United last weekend, but they did play well, don't get me wrong. However, with the new manager coming in this weekend I think it's going to be a difficult afternoon for them. I'm backing Cardiff for a win that will put Southampton in big trouble. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- LAWRO: Cardiff 2-1 Southampton New Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl was in the stands to see his new side get comprehensively beaten by Tottenham on Wednesday night, and it will be interesting to see what team he picks after spending so little time with his players. Hasenhuttl will get a reaction, because suddenly everyone is playing for their place now Mark Hughes has left. But I don't think he will know too much about Cardiff, and I am pretty sure he won't have crossed paths with Bluebirds boss Neil Warnock before. So this is a case of 'welcome to the Premier League' for Hasenhuttl and this is going to be a tough test for him. Cardiff have won three of their last four home games, and I can see them getting another victory here. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Honestly the signs are there with these 2 predicting Cardiff wins, Hasenhuttl is the one and we're gonna win 3-0!

Dont you mean Moechengladbach rather than Dusseldorf?

I now believe Hughes didn’t save us from the drop...’Not Pellegrino’ saved us

maybe... but I do think that 3-0 defeat to Newcastle took the stuffing out of us... something had to give and it was Pellegrino of course. Honestly, under Pellegrino I don't think we would have won anymore. -
^^ Jan: boss that is it I have reached my limit Hasenhuttl: that was just the warm up! squad: *SH*T*

disagree with that he has gone backwards... id say last season he hit rock bottom, and whilst he hasn't reached the 2016-17 standard we saw (which wasn't all that anyway), the only way is up... i don't think he'll ever be a top 6 player, just lacks the brain and decision making for me

honestly i haven't been this excited in a long long time, more excited than when Poch and Koeman came in recent years! speaking everything that we have all wanted to hear 'if a player can not go past the limit i want we will fall out'
-
'I can play 433, 343, main goal to be proactive, press very early, also depends how much quick players you have, but need to find formation that suits and fits the players'.

Is there any one you would rather have got than Ralph?

you might be smoking some herbs son -
it is harsh when you consider our attackers are all pure sh*te
-
there isn't though... the same way us fans are annoyed when a good player/manager leaves, we fans are equally dismissive of sh*t players and willing to let them go after a season!
-
ah sh*t in the sense that I went there during pre-season... and we got smashed. However good in the sense that despite our struggles, they are a Championship team and secondly, they might see promotion as the bigger target and so give this one up.

it's what i call a space.

is it plausible that we announce him thursday, but he actually starts training with the boys tomorrow?
-
when was the last time we drew a league 1 team? and wigan last season doesn't count because on paper, city were overwhelming favourites to be our quarterfinal opponents!
-
meh- Sky most likely causing drama so they can make money through Sky Bet!
-
sounds good As long as he is no Felix Magath that Fulham had!
-
Yeah there is an element of this- he is not a top 10 PL player like Mane/Tadic was- best he’ll ever be is for a PL team fighting relegation- like us now and Norwich a few years back. However, his dribbling has improved marginally but I still don’t think he has the brain to be a top 6/Leicester/Everton level player He was meant to be our Juanmi replacement ffs- shows how much Boufal flopped and Elyounoussi still not ready yet
-
Reminds me of us a bit under Pellegrino now- pulling out a ‘good result on paper’ which extends Hughes tenure that extra month more- This will finish comfortable 2-0 Spurs- could hr any of Kane, Alli, Eriksen or Son

I think everyone has already predicted this game tbh... we will take the lead, Ings to grab a goal around 30th minute. but then the inevitable happens as we reach minute 70, we tire out and Martial scores their equaliser, completely swinging momentum before Lukaku bundles home the winner for them in the 86th minute... we appear to wake up after this and best we muster in a JWP cross that Yoshida doesn't connect his head properly to and it's game over. Hughes standard that we are 'ruing missed opportunities again' and that the 'boys are trying'.

That’s us a lot of the time though. :/

unfortunately football doesn't work like that... a 3 year contract offers a safety net for any prospective manager and equally we are in desperation mode pretty much with terrible form and no Director of Football. that said, I'd offer a 3 year contract- but offer really high incentive based rewards- maybe something like a £4-4.5m per year contract, going up to £7m for a top 10 and £10m for the year for any sort of Cup Win/European Position... wonder if anyone would accept that? tempt Jardim 4.5m per year works out at around 87k a week- we don't offer that much to any of our players do we? but again- suppose my above is just wishful thinking

hughes has to go... but our next two games in the league are united and spurs could have been handy to get someone in monday and bed ideas in for leicester game
