Footballers rarely take a pay cut, much like many workers. Look at Adebayor he rather make loads surplus to requirements at Spurs than leave for first team football for less money.

On his current wages, I'm sure 100s of clubs arounds the world would happily have him, if they could afford him. He'll likely have to take a cut in his next contract but for now he is earning a lot more than anyone else is willing to pay.

Get him on the new contract! Just means we can demand obscene amounts for him, look at Sterling and De Bruyne, prices are going to go up and up. A lot depends how well these two wingers fare IMO. Saw some reporter who's probably a spurs fan say that the club/Poch has brought in those 2 wingers as Strikers and they have been seen to be 'devastating upfront' even though they've played most of thier career out wide Their defence should be sound but if Harry Kane and Eriksen aren't scoring, who is?
