  1. one of my go to sites.. http://www.sportsclubstats.com/England/Southampton.html Southampton : 00.10% chance Brighton : 16.80% chance Cardiff : 83.10% chance
  2. hey, with 3 games to go, matching our season point total for 2016-2017 is still possible.
  3. no kidding. 2 more points lost from a winning position. we must be leading the league in that statistic. and yes, was thinking a point today would be a positive. Helps that Brighton didn't pick up any points either (the odds that both Brighton and Cardiff earn 38 points or more and we stick at 37 points must be very very low)
  4. Cardiff held their own today, but Liverpool just wore them down. Talent won out. But Cardiff is still playing hard and with spirit i would say, and haven't look terrible in the last 3 or 4 games. I expect they will pick up some points in the next 3 matches, but I don't think they are going to get past the Saints.
  5. me too. that will put us up 6 points above Cardiff, carrying a better GD. with three matches to go, It is hard to imagine Cardiff getting 7 points and Saints getting nothing.
  6. Indeed. 538 still has us at under 1% chance of relegation. https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/soccer-predictions/premier-league/ now they did have us finishing at 14th before today's matches, now they have us at 15th
  7. Or... just how good is Hassenhüttl? P18 W8 D3 L8 Pts 27 (that kind of form all season would lock up 7th place)
  8. even with a game in hand, i reckon Brighton is sweating it the most among the non-Cardiff teams. Bournemouth (H), Cardiff (H), Wolves (A), Tottenham (A), Newcastle (H), Arsenal (A), Man City (H) It is not such a far fetched scenario that Brighton could find themselves in 18 place by the end of the day Tuesday.
  9. ummm.. no.
  10. This. Crucial win. And remaining fixtures favor Saints Cardiff's remaining 8 fixtures are brutal (Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City, Man U) Burnley's remaining 9 fixtures included (Liverpool, Chelsea, Man City, Arsenal) Southampton (only one Top 6 club in remaining 8 fixtures, Liverpool at home)
  11. Yeah but Austin would have been 10 yards further back up the pitch. and as far as Sims, i have never understood why he has not given more chance to play in the last 2 years. Every time he is on, he has an impact. No one should be surprised today.
  12. Yeah but Austin would have been 10 yards further back up the pitch.
  13. Tadic has been directly involved in 40 goals across all competitions for Ajax this season 40 games - 26 goals - 14 assists per Squawka Football
  14. after 29 games last season : 28 points |-12 GD after 29 games this season: 27 points | -17 GD
  15. it difficult for me to to get buoyed by seeing us play really well against a really good team when more often than not we turn around & play like crap against a really bad team; They both result in f*** all. Nothing. No points. we'll likely stay up, but 17th place two years in a row doesn't historically bode well for clubs in the PL.
  16. for some reason I am quietly confident in this game. - I think the short rest after a big win is to the Saints advantage. The win is fresh in their minds. I don't think stewing on this game for an entire week would be an advantage to this squad. - Man U is due for a loss. I doubt they think it is coming from the Saints. - Man U will be looking ahead to the PSG next week as well as possibly resting players. Another advantage to having a Wednesday match last week. (are they going to want their best playing 3 matches in 7 days time?) Prediction? Hasenhuttl sets us up defensively (especially in first half). Saints nick a goal in the 74th minute, and then squeaky bum time until the final whistle. Saints 1 - 0 Man United
  17. HUGE win. And indeed, a tough 5 game stretch. If we are somehow not in the relegation zone after the next 5 games, i will be feeling pretty good about the last 5 and staying up. i think 37 points will keep us up. Need to find 3 wins and a draw in the next 10 matches. Potential wins : Huddersfield (H), Brighton (A), Bournemouth (H)
  18. Newcastle making a case that they are not relegation fodder. on their way to 4 wins and 1 draw (13 points) in their last 6 matches.
  19. we have gave away 3 precious points in stoppage time in the last 2 games to Cardiff and Burnley. It's these little things, these little moments that happen to teams who find themselves looking up at teams like Cardiff and Burnley from 18th place in early May. troubling times.
  20. Huge 3 points!! almost like unexpected bonus points, especially considering that 4 of our next 5 games are against: Palace, Burnley, Cardiff and Fulham. we take care of business in those 4 matches things will be very rosy indeed.
  21. So far, so good.. but big picture, a draw for Burnley/Huddersfield is the better result, IMO.
  22. it's a big ask....We are on 15 points with 18 matches left. the good thing is something like 34 points might be enough to stay up this season. the BIG Question : is 5 wins, 4 draws and 9 losses realistic the rest of the way? (seems daunting)
  23. a 6'-2" Cedric would do nicely. I too am sick of seeing Cedric beaten on the far post. (it's not due to the lack of effort, it's just his height limits his ability to defend in certain situations). Yes, Cedric is likely better going forward, but the priority right now is too stop leaking goals. After Varley picked up that yellow against Cardiff, it was right to pull him. His lack of experience put him in jeopardy of a second yellow. Start Valery, keep Cedric warmed on the bench.
  24. Oh? Did he score goal finally?
  25. really need the 3 points here. If not at Cardiff then where? Cardiff (a) Arsenal (h) Huddersfield (a) West Ham (h) Manchester City (h) Chelsea (a) 9 points after the holiday fixtures would get us to 18 points with 21 games played.
