  1. So you don’t think that the stubbornness is on both side of the argument? Have we established that every premiership player has to kneel whether they want to or not? If so, why didn’t Zaha get the memo? I assume the players Union don’t have a problem with it. Wouldn’t they kick off if their member were forced to do something against their will? There has clearly been a decision made by PL clubs to carry on doing it. Instead of complaining on here to people who don’t give a damn, why don’t those who are against people kneeling for a couple of seconds take it up with the EPL?
  2. I think the only people making tits of themselves are the ones who think they know better than those being abused.
  3. You’ve not read supersonics posts or listen to other BAME’s people’s experiences then. Can you imagine who you would feel having people constantly picking on you because of your colour or religion. Hate crime figures are on the rise. I am used to the usual suspects playing down the problems of racism because they are ignorant and have nothing better to do with their times than attack people on social media who speak out against racism but to come along and say that the “reported examples of racism in this country seem to be largely confined to a few nasty social media posts” takes ignorance beyond the level of Turkish and hypo’s tiresome crusade against anti racists.
  4. I’m not sure how a few blokes kneeling for a few seconds before a game of football can be seen as counter productive. It is hardly going to turn people into racists is it? And as we keep saying, the point is to keep the issue of racism to the fore. It is also hardly lecturing or preaching at people. It is not as if we have to deal with an hour long speech about the evils of racism before every game. For those who are kicking off at being “lectured to” about something that doesn’t apply to them, why not just look at your phone for those 15 seconds instead of getting yourselves wound up about it and let those who want to make their point about something that is very clearly a problem in this country make their point without adding to the problem. Whatever a non racist thinks of kneeling down for a couple of seconds, if people who are on the end of abuse want to do it as a form of protest, that is their right. If you can think of a better way perhaps go and talk to them about it instead of polluting a football forum with negativity every single bloody day.
  5. So that encourages rape and murder too? If people have a problem with being told that racism is wrong, what would that tell you about that person. It might be obvious to most of us but clearly not all. We are lectured because there are people in society know need to be lectured. There are still people who text and drive, drink and drive or don’t wear seat belts. Should we stop telling them it is wrong just because it is a minority? People get lectured when there is a need. Just because it doesn’t apply to you and others doesn’t mean to say that there isn’t a need for it. This post will be followed by the usual gang of suspects who will try and find anything to discredit the campaigns to deal with racism. They are part of the reason the lecturing needs to continue. Don’t take a knee because it could make things worse. Seriously? God forgive that we should stir up the poor racists. Best not do anything about it and hope it blows over.
  6. Exactly right. No one expects racists to change their attitude just because some professional footballers kneel down for a few seconds before a match, but the whole point of the exercise as you say is to keep the issue to the fore. To that end it is clearly working because we are still talking about it. Sadly some people want to muddy the water by either trying to pretend that it has Marxist undertones or diss it because it isn’t going to stop racists being racists. Of course it isn’t. But what it does demonstrate is that there is no room for racism here and it will not be tolerated. it wasn’t that long ago when the Maohetson report concluded that the Metropolitan police were “institutionally racist”. Some reports from BAME police officers say that they still receive racial abuse from their colleagues yet there are those who know better and play down the problem even when they are told that people are suffering this abuse on a regular basis. To tell BAME people that White Privilege does not exist is not only deeply insulting, but it is extremely ignorant. Some people will use it to their advantage, it is just human nature, but to pretend it doesn’t exist is clearly ridiculous. Taking the knee, the Kick It Out campaign, Hate Crime laws and all of the other measures against racial (and religious) intolerance will not stop it alone, but they are all are part of the push to show that racists and racist behaviour has no part in our society. It isn’t going to happen overnight and at some point Taking the Knee will have to be replaced with something else, but eventually we will get to the point where these morons will learn to keep their abhorrent opinions and attitudes to themselves. Future generations will hopefully grow up without casual racist comments in their homes and eventually we will reach the point where we don’t spend hours discussion it on Internet forms because it really will be a very small problem, which it clearly isn’t at the moment.
  7. Hey supersonic! You have my utmost respect for sticking your head above the parapet on here. You must find it bizarre that a very small but depressingly persistent bunch of white blokes know more than you about racial abuse. Apparently you shouldn’t worry. The UK is the most tolerant place on the planet. We have laws to deal with racism. There is no point in people making a stand against the almost non existent racism because it will never go away, not that it is a problem. BAME people don’t know what it is like to be white. It is only a very very very small minority of people so not really worth worrying about. The usual suspects are all over anybody who dares to speak out against the problem we have about racism and now they are all over you, a poster who has first hand knowledge of this deeply unpleasant problem. Still, they know better than you (apparently). I am sorry that you and your family have to put up with this crap. I am also sorry that a small bunch of very ignorant posters on here feel that they have the right to lecture you about racism. This place used to be a haven for a lot of far right wing apologists but it is good to see more and more posters getting fed up with them and calling them out. Thanks for having the balls to front them up but don’t expect them to give up. Good luck mate!
  8. What you mean is if you are prepared to pay the asking price. Would you pay twice as much for a car that you thought was worth half as much or would you haggle?
  9. Are Villa “higher”? Judging by the way we played when we were firing on all cylinders in 2020 I’d say that it took a lot of intensive practice. Also given that we were defensively very poor for half a season how so if 50% of the training was spent of defence? Finally how on earth could you keep this so quiet for 3 weeks? I’m not saying it isn’t possible but it seems highly unlikely.
  10. Who’s to say he won’t be fighting relegation with Villa?
  11. If you don’t support anti racists what exactly are you? Forget the actual gesture, it is the meaning behind it that is important and if people can’t support that you have to wonder why that is. Seriously, just think about it. Why on Earth would someone boo people who are making a stand against racism?
  12. Absolutely right. It’s over in seconds so why make a big deal about it and why does it bother some so much? Those who suffer abuse first hand feel that it is worthwhile and it is certainly better than doing nothing. It’s amazing that people spend so much time out of their life complaining about something they say they say is inconsequential. The fact that it is still winding these people up shows that it is still having an effect. Why on Earth would people who claim not to have an issue with racism spend so much time and effort complaining about those protesting about racism? It really is very strange.
  13. Why talk about transfers when you can spend time slagging off your own players? I really don’t get the negativity around JWP. Whilst he certainly isn’t the best midfielder we have ever had, he really isn’t that bad. He was our player of the year last year deservedly and has earned the captaincy with consistent performances. It seems almost as if some people get some perverse pleasure from dissing our own players, management and club. No one and nothing is perfect.
  14. We had to sell Surman. Apparently we don’t have to sell JWP. He also has a long contract and as many have said, if he doesn’t want to go he isn’t going. Also as many have said, he is a key part of the squad (no matter what Duckie’s opinion of him is). I don’t believe he is going anywhere no matter how many bids Villa make.
  15. If Villa were going places surely they wouldn’t be looking to sell their best player? The established wisdom on here is that we are not going anywhere because we sell our best players. Why is that any different for Villa? With Grealish they were average. Why should they be any better without him?
  16. We are the only club to make an offer for Armstrong so far apparently. Can’t see JWP going to Villa unless silly money is involved.
  17. Indeed. You would need to be criminally incompetent to allow your main striker to leave on the last day of the window without sorting out a replacement. Ings has behaved like a model professional (unlike certain other players who have fancied a move to a big club) and to infer that his form has dipped because he wants out is utter nonsense. Any professional athlete who aims to perform to the best of their ability is bound to look pissed off if it is not working for them. The PL is a very demanding platform and players need to be in peak condition to perform at their best.
  18. He can reassess Spurs all he likes, but if he wants CL football that certainly ain’t happening next season and is no certainty the season after either.
  19. My exact same thoughts when I read that story!
  20. Stealing a living? Turning up for training and being available to play is stealing a living? I think you’ll find that is called doing your job. As for freezing a 19 year old out of the club. Perhaps it was just that he thought the kid wasn’t ready yet so didn’t play him. 19 years old. Think about that. Certainly his brief appearance against United seem to indicate that Ralph was right not to play him again at the time, but does that really equate to being frozen out? The guy wants to progress and play football and clearly isn’t going to be a starter in the first team for a while so it seems like the club have agreed to let him go. Why make it sound like a drama? My wife was bullied by her boss a couple of years ago and it seriously affected her mental health. What made it worse was that she and her partner were friends of ours and drank in our local. Bullying in the workplace (or anywhere for that matter) has no place in a civilised society.
  21. Still stuck in the mid 20th century I see Duckie. How do you think that would play out in any other workplace in the country? It is not his fault that he has got a decent contract so why bully him and make his life a misery? I’m sure you would be delighted if your boss decided that you were surplus to requirements and treated you like crap to try and get you out. The world has moved on thankfully.
  22. I haven’t chased you anywhere, I have simply replied to what you have said in one thread. You also said that you wouldn’t reply to my posts several posts ago so why are you? (By the way, that’s a rhetorical question). As for saying that someone is living in someone’s head, you honestly believed that there is no implication of some kind of mental deficiency? And I thought hypo was bad. Let’s just go our separate ways Egg. It’s bad enough being trolled by Turkish and hypo.
  23. You say “keep addressing you in posts”. I think I have done that twice. Hardly excessive is it? This is the third so I apologise for that, but I think your post deserves a response again. Most of my comments are directed to the odd people who seem to have nothing better to do than jump all over my posts and are guaranteed to kick off the minute the issues of racism or Muslims arise. I don’t think I have called you anything have I? Your remark about having people live rent free in my head would indicate some kind of mental health problem would it not? Getting stuck in these ridiculous spats is not helped with this daft 3 post thing so responses are neither timely nor covered in depth. I refuse to pay £5 for a forum where WUMs are allowed to routinely infect threads with their nonsense and their need to feel superior to others so I am limited to what I can say each day , but trust me, I have no intention of stalking you the way that some here stalk me. Have a good day snd enjoy the sunshine! This is for Duckie re the penalty discussion. They weren’t my suggestions. The newspaper asked it readers how they would replace penalties as a way of deciding the winner at football matches and I posted some of the responses. Thanks for the credit but I can’t take any, I was only reacting to what I read. Oh, and you can’t replace penalties with penalties so you might like to think of something else.
  24. I said that I had some people on ignore (not including LD, that was your assumption). You said that I didn’t. I have and the fact that I may have read 5% of the posts on my ignore list for the sake of continuity in a thread it doesn’t alter the fact that I have an ignore list of which the vast majority of posts don’t get read. That, in any reasonable person’s book would be ignore. I am sure that you can grasp this very simple concept but in your rush to try and make yourself look superior you have once again failed. Yes a few people on here mock me. We all know who they are and we all know what they are about. Frankly, you are no better than they are. Egg, I really don’t know what you are talking about re “expectation”. I suggested that you put me on ignore if you didn’t like my posts, you said you wouldn’t. I responded to something you said with no expectation whether you would bother to read it or not. That was your business but why try and make out that I am mentally deficient just because I responded to a point you made? I was not aware of hypo’s comment, which is well out of order, as you are for repeating it.
  25. Like Turkish you clearly do not understand how the ignore function works. You can chose to read individual posts if you wish at the press of a button. In answer to your question, one on your list has been on ignore for some time, one went on yesterday and one isn’t on it because it is funny reading his posts as he is clearly still stuck half way through the last century. You also managed to miss some names. So yes, there is a bunch of usual suspects on ignore and your attempt at smart arsery has back fired.
