  1. Norman Tebbit has the definitive list. I think that supporting the English cricket team was one of the criteria.
  2. When he first looks up he is looking to play a cross, but watch what happens next. He looks towards the goal. I think it was a shot.
  3. There is nothing funny about the orange, strangely coiffured haired one (apart maybe from his hair). If the media are getting "in a tizz" it is because the most powerful man on the planet behaves like a delusional petulant child and who has no idea what truth is. The frightening thing is that there are millions of Americans who actually fall for his ****. No Batman, there is nothing funny about any of this.
  4. Oh the irony. Batman using the media to have a dig at the media.
  5. Spot on!
  6. Apparently the rumour about the bid for Amat wasn't true.
  7. Apparently the rumour about Amat is not true. Still, why worry about all the good that has happened when you can did up the few mistakes? Try looking at the bigger picture, I don't think you will find it is that bad.
  8. If Bertrand shows signs of leaving we can always send Nordic round to threaten him!
  9. Just think of the fun you could have had on here if we had lost! We won away from home and scored 4 goals. What's not to like? Cheer up for goodness sake!
  10. I think that you will find that plenty of people who invest their money in the club also criticise the bedwetters. Anyway, back to the point of the thread. It looks like Reed has unearthed another gem. Does it really make sense to kick him out?
  11. Thanks to you and others for your support. It is a nightmare getting anywhere from where I currently live but there are numerous reasons why I don't get to live games very often nowadays, and I really don't feel the need to justify them to anyone else. We are all entitled to an opinion, and as the Club Historian has said himself, play the post, not the man!
  12. You have no knowledge of my situation so I don't know why you feel qualified to make a personal judgement. Is my opinion any more biased than yours Duncan? You can probably see more watching the match on TV so I don't see why you think being there makes an opinion any more valid? I also don't know why you get so upset about it. There are plenty of Saints supporters who don't go to games very often for a variety of reasons. Anyway, this thread is about sacking Les Reed. I really don't think that you have to go to every match just to have an opinion about the job he is doing for us. The reason I "lecture" as you put it is because invariably a number of people on here are only to willing to jump to negative conclusions without any facts to back up their posts. I am not the only one on here who gets fed up with the negativity. I didn't aim my post at you but perhaps I have touched a nerve? And as someone said earlier, you get upset when someone has a pop at you, you even started a thread about it, but you feel more than happy to have a pop at other people.
  13. "You don't bother going to games." So that immediately invalidates my having an opinion does it? Would it do so if I was to share your glass half full attitude Duncan? As a historian I find your attitude rather odd. Should we dismiss everything historians write because most of them weren't there at the events they write about and form opinions about? You only have to read the match day thread on here to see that people who "bothered" to go to the match differ enormously in the way they see it. There are many people on here who also do not go to matches but form a view from their armchairs and our view is just as valid, even if it does differ from yours. You have no idea what my circumstances are yet it doesn't stop you making a judgement. Don't you think that is a bit hypocritical, afterall, isn't that what you are in effect accusing me of? Well done to going to lots of matches but sorry, it doesn't mean that your point of view carries any more weight than anyone else's. At the end of the day, it is just another opinion. And you pontificate as much as any one else on here.
  14. There is nothing I hate more than the "I am a better supporter than you" mentality. I am a Londoner born and bred. I have never lived in Hampshire. I started supporting the Saints in 1966 and they have been my only club. These days I am mostly an armchair supporter. It doesn't make me any less passionate or committed to the club than someone who goes to every game. The same can be said for those who live overseas. What exactly is a "real fan?" There are many on here who would call themselves "real fans" but spend all their time slagging the club off or picking holes in everything they do. I think it is great that the club has a fanbase outside of Hampshire and outside of the country. Long may that continue and grow!
  15. Is it just a British trait I wonder, but many seem to have a need to find fault with everything. I could understand it when we were on a downward trajectory, but we have had a wonderful 7 years, have a cup final to look forward to and are still mid table despite a poor run, so why the need to find blame and pillory people? It happened last year and the year before that too. Not always Reed. Kat Liebherr and Ralph Krueger have been slagged off too. The club has been very well run so what is the problem if Reed enjoys some of the plaudits? Surely that is better than people wanting to talk to him because we are rubbish and there are fan demonstrations every week? It must have been manna from heaven when, after signing a striker after being slagged off since last summer for not buying another one, that VVD got crocked and gave the moaners an opportunity to berate him over not signing a new CH. I guess if Caceres does sign and is a success, the pitchfork brigade will find another reason to attack Reed, or find another target at the club.
  16. There is a story doing the rounds that things changed and Puel decided that it was best for all that Fonte moved on now. I don't know if that is true but it would explain a lot.
  17. As I said, he may well have thought that Fonte would stay until the summer. If you believe some rumours we were looking to replace him then with Fabien Schar. Things do change you know. Reed gets slagged off for not saying anything and slagged off when he does. If you have ever worked in any sales situation there is no such thing as being damn sure about anything until the ink is dry on a contract. As for not getting as much stick, I think you will find that he would have got stick for something else by those who want to believe that the club is badly run.
  18. Excellent post. Whatever you think of Les Reed, he is not stupid. When he said that we wouldn't release Jose until a replacement was in place he probably thought that he would knuckle down when the window was closed and we could replace him in the summer. Something has clearly been wrong with Fonte since the Euros and it would appear that it came to a head recently, prompting a shift in the management position to move him on. The situation obviously changed big time when the extent of VVDs injury became known. If it is true the price of our main target went up by 5m Euros after we had agreed a deal then I don't blame the club for pulling out. Once you get a reputation of caving in, there goes your negotiating position. Other targets didn't work out either leaving us high and dry at the end of the window and leaving us with out of contract players as our only option. Out of the very few available, there is one who has clearly been a quality player in the past. If we can get fit and stay fit he will be a decent signing. I don't believe for one minute we are paying this guy a fortune, we just don't operate like that. Yes you can call it a panic buy, but rather than a total **** up, I think the club have gone about their business in their usual way and were left short in the window because they don't bend over and get shafted.
  19. You posted several times suggesting that Always should be banned permantly. And you call me a liar!!
  20. If true Reed has seriously lost the plot. Giggs would be a crap centre half.
  21. I don't recall him saying we are better and more intelligent than the rest, just that we have a way of operating that works for us. We are also working for the long term rather than the short term, a point that seems to be lost on the knee jerk reactionaries. Many people said a good cup run and a mid table finish would be fine this year. We are having a good cup run and could well finish mid table, but hey, let's sack Reed and Puel anyway.
  22. Yes he did. On several posts he asked that you should be banned permanently. I think he may have some issues!
  23. Chased off with ridicule? Not really as I still post here most days. What I haven't done is renew my membership, and that is because the place is populated by ****s like yourself. What was ridiculous (and embarrassing) was your childish posturing in trying to get a fellow member permanently banned. A bit like a petulant Premiership prima donna waving an imaginary red card about. Anyway, back to business and Jack Schitt's info. He was very detailed about the injury and I haven't seen that elsewhere. If that is wrong I was say that was more than an indication of the veracity of his information than the timescale of the lay off. He said that VVD (if all goes well) "could be back in training in to around four to six weeks or so." Or so would take it into two months and you wouldn't expect him to be back in the first team until he has put in several training sessions, so out of the first team for between 2 and 3 months isn't miles away. The other stuff was also very detailed and if false could soon be disproved. As far as I know the only info that he passed on that he been proved wrong was the Pellegrini rumour and he did come back to explain why that happen. You believe him or you don't, which comes back to my original point which is that the same people who say that the JS is rubbish are often the same people who believe or repeat other, more negative stuff, about the club which has the same level of providence i.e. these people have heard or have been given the info from someone else who may or may not be kosher. Whether the JS info is correct or not, do people seriously believe that the club didn't try to bring in another CH in the last window? It makes no sense to anyone with a modicum of common sense, unless of course you want to believe that Reed is doing all he can to sabotage the club.
  24. Why would anyone want to believe in what Jack Schitt tweets? It would mean that the club have been working hard to support the manager, that they don't pay over the odds for players, that they don't take crap from players and that Les Reed is not a total idiot. What can't have that can we? We would much rather believe that the club we support is badly run and has only got here by luck. I bet if Jack had slagged Reed and Puel off and had said that Fonte had been badly stitched up it would be quoted on here as gospel.
  25. And yet people believe the nonsense written on here on a daily basis. Go figure!
