The thing is that is has been ingrained over the centuries. Internet porn and Take Me Out are very recent affairs. Porn has been around forever too but it is different to not allowing women the vote and treating women like second class citizens. Many women enjoy porn too, Sex is natural and it is natural for both men and women to explore their sexual fantasies. This usually involves consenting adults and privacy. This is very different to a bunch of blokes embarrassing a woman going on with her professional job but chanting for her to expose her breasts. When the worst name you can call someone is the same word used for female genitalia, what does that tell you about the division of the sexes?

Yep you said that before, but why do you think that is? Why do some people think it is acceptable there but not elsewhere? These same blokes have read the Sun for years and watched Take Me Out yet they know that in certain circumstances they need to moderate their instinct to make offensive chants. That says to me they know it isn't actually acceptable yet put them in a football ground and it becomes perfectly acceptable?

Okay I am sure we get it. Although I still don't think the show is particularly a good example can you explain to us why there seems to be more racism, sexism and general discriminatory behaviour amongst blokes who go to football. If we all subjected to this kind of stimulus why do so many men not behave this way? What makes a bloke at a football match think it is ok to sing get em out for the lads at a football match but the same bloke at a cricket match or tennis match in the same circumstances wouldn't dream of doing it?

I really don't know Batman but cannot recall anything. Hypo - I am not saying this attitude doesn't come from somewhere, but there is a certain type of person who thinks it is ok. I agree that papers like The Sport and Sun have fed into this. I am not sure a show like Take Me Out is sexist in the way you mean or causes this behaviour though. It is wrong wherever it happens and it may or may not be more prevalent amongst football crowds. I think we are talking about it here because it is a football site and that is our point of reference. We have also discussed Page 3 on other threads. Yes I agree there is a problem in society and yes it needs to be dealt with (and The Sun have covered up their "lovelies" so that is a start) but it needs to be dealt with as it happens too. Big strides are being taken to kick racism out of football. That needs to apply to sexism too. If someone is thrown out for making a racist comment throw them out for singing GYTOFTL too. Every journey starts with the first step.

Buy you say there is a link between the two. There is a link between some national red top tabloid newspapers printing topless pictures of woman everyday and blokes who think it is okay to chant asking woman to expose themselves but I still fail to see a link between a really cr@p TV show (and thanks for reminding how bad it is with that clip Batman) and what goes on with the chanting. Take Me Out is about a bunch of young people gagging for their 15 minutes of fame on a purile TV show. I doubt very much if anyone holds a gun to these peoples heads and I am sure we all know people who would love to go and show off on TV like this. I would defy anyone to watch this show and then feel the need to go and shout at a woman to expose herself. Is the show sexist? Would people get upset if there was a single woman and not a bloke on the stand? I really don't think it is about that to be honest. The thought never crossed my mind - I was more thinking about who on Earth really thought that the inane phrase No Likey No Lighty was an acceptable catchphrase! Is the point of the show to use men as sex objects or it is to show up a bunch of preening narcissists for what they are and have a laugh in the process? At the risk of sounding racist, you are trying to make something that is not black and white fit neatly into a pigeonhole. You are perfectly entitled to feel offended by Take Me Out as a sexist show. The fact that society as a whole seem to think it is a bit of harmless cr*p would seem to put you in a very small minority. The fact that a larger number of people think that chanting Get Your Tits Out For The Lads is wrong makes it a bigger issue. To say that the show is the cause of the terrace chanting misses the point by a mile.

So when you make a judgement about someone that you either want to date or not - that is a sexist thing? People fancy each other or they don't. People play the dating/mating game all the time. Don't people do that all the time though? I remember many years ago speaking to a woman who said the first time she saw David Beckham she thought wow. Then he opened his mouth and said something in that weedy little voice of his and she went right off him. Both men and women make subjective judgements on each other. That is why we date. It is all about finding out about each other and if there is enough there to take the relationship further. Singing Get Your Tits Out For The Lads is something entirely different.

I haven't seen the show for a while but when I did it was about dating. I don't recall the guy asking his prospective dates to flash their breasts at him. Also why is it down to the men to decide what is acceptable and what is not. If women say that they do not find Take Me Out offensive and relatively harmless but sexist chanting at football matches is offensive why not go with that? I doubt very much if women have problems with lingerie ads or other women wearing bikinis or going topless on a beach. They take part in the dating ritual as much as men and I understand that they quite enjoy the process of dating so I am struggling to find a link between a lame dating TV show and various other displays of differences between the sexes and the fact that some blokes think it is perfectly ok to chant at a woman asking her to expose her breasts. We are talking about boundaries and what people find acceptable and unacceptable. The fact that there isn't a huge outcry about that show on here would seem to indicate that people generally find it harmless rubbish. If you interviewed all those blokes who happily sung Get Your Tits Out For The Lads I doubt very much if any of then would say that he did it because of Take Me Out. It will be because of boorish laddish bravado with his buddies.

A group of officers surrounding a man on the ground who then gets shot several times? Was there no other way to restrained the man who was on the ground without filing him full of holes? You must sleep very soundly at night knowing that you are being protected by such fearless officers. If this was a one off Sarnia perhaps I would have some sympathy for your view. Spitting is disgusting and needs to be removed from the game. I agree that 6 or 7 games in excessive but maybe that is what is needed to send out the message that it is not tolerated. Ok, it wont break your leg or end your career (unless the spitter has Ebola) but it is nothing to do with the game. Tackles are and sometimes a slightly mistimed tackle can do damage. The ref has to work out what was intentional and what wasn't. If you spit at someone you know what you are doing and it takes things to a whole different level. Physical contact is one thing, exchanging bodily fluids another.
