  1. Ah, so the sh*te served up against other teams when we won is okay then? Do you really know anything about football? Even the greatest teams have days when they play poorly. The best teams lose to the worst. There is no way in either of our lifetimes that the Saints will go through a season without playing badly and without losing. That is a reality, why can't you deal with it? Most teams will not get promoted every season. Most teams will not win a trophy. We have already acheived more then most teams will. A good thing? No? Lat Sunday was a great advert for the club and a day that can be used to build on. The players, if they make the play offs next season will have the experience of having been there and winning. They have a taste of success, how can that be a bad thing? There are many positives to be drawn from this season but it appears that some people wear sh*t coloured glasses and can't or don't want to see the progress we have made. Yes, wouldn't it be great if it all happened over night? But for most it doesn't. It is probably better for the club if it happens in solid and sustainable way. Many sides have had some short term success only to fly too close to the Sun and come crashing down with a bang. McMenemy was anything but an overnight success. After going down and struggling to come to terms with the 2nd Div, it took a trip to Wembley and a fw more inspired signings to get us promoted and several more seasons before we really started to compete..and that was before the ridiculous transfer window so you could rebuild through the season if you wanted to. Ferguson struggled until he got it right at MoanU and they still lost the other night despite all of his knowledge and the talent on the pitch. This childish petulance is very tiresome. Look up the word "support" and give it a try. You might like it.
  2. Indeed. Yet there is another manager who managed just 3 wins in 13 who got a much easier ride from the Wrist Slitting Brigade. Go figure. Probably as well that they don't support Leeds right now. Any league is tough to get out of and it doesn't help that we started the season in total rebuild mode. But without the -10 we would be strongly in with a shout and have already (and finally) won something. Of course we can do better and with more rebuilding in the summer hopefully we shall. But to call for Pardew's head and to rip him to shreads just because we draw is plainly ridiculous - espcially less than a week after the great day on Sunday.
  3. Could say the same to you Alps. After every match you find something to complain about. Your constant moaning and negativity is draining and after the last few seasons we really don't need it now we have something to be optimistic about. You really seem incapable of finding any joy in supporting Saints, so why on Earth do you do it? FFS, we won a trophy on Sunday and picked up a tough point away last night..and you are still in Victor Meldew mode??? It is not that people can't handle you opinion, it is just the way you have to find a cloud to any silver lining. You really can't wait for Pardew to be sacked can you? You will be in your element. Instead of this constant whinging and griping, why don't you try and support the manager and his team. They have a tough enough job to do without doom merchants like you getting on their back after every game. If you can't handle the fact that we are NEVER going to win every game we play you had better start stocking up the Prozac.
  4. Vendetta? I simply pointed out that you used to cream your jeans over him and he only won 3 games in 13 matches for us but that seems okay in Alpineworld. If you can't see that both Burley and Pardew have excellent points per game record for us then I would suggest that there is little help for you either. I am sorry that you didn't enjoy the season we made the play offs and that you can't seem to enjoy this season either. No doubt you were slagging McMenemy off when we came second to Liverpool in the old Div 1. Still if Pearson goes to Celtic perhaps you would like to support them? I know how much you love Northernerss/Scotsfolk and Celtic are expected to win every game so you would be in your element. PS. We won a trophy less than a week ago. Sorry that that hasn't made you happy either.
  5. Ah that explains a lot Alps. You borrowed his dummy to throw out of his pram at fulltime then?
  6. If the negative brigade on here get their wish then Pardew would be gone. I can't believe some of the nonsense on here this morning.
  7. Poor tactical choices? We shall park the fact that you didn't see the game for a moment... So what about Sunday? What about away at Norwich and home to Leeds and Huddersfield? I would argue that Pardew gets it right more than he gets it wrong. I see the best manager in Engalnd lost in Germany the other night and another very decent manager drew at home and conceded 2 goals. Should they be sacked because they apparently "got it wrong"???? Take away the -10 points and look again. We have had a good season, fantastic in relation to the last couple of years. But you will never be satisfied will you? Even when we tool Wolves apart and stuffed them 6-0 you found something to moan about. All I can imagine is that after years of pleading your wife finally gave you a blow job only to tell you later that she has written off your car!
  8. Actually it is nothing like it at all other than in Alpineworld. It is caled sport. You know where people go and and compete and anything can happen. We won something at last and we got an away point at a tough ground. Grow up.
  9. Clough workd wonders with so called "lesser" players. I wonder how he would have fared with the more gifted players? It didn't work well for him at Leeds but he did work wonders with the resourses he had and it would have been great to see him ruffle the feahers of the Establishment. But as has been said, they were afraid of him and it was never going to happen.
  10. 2-1 down with a minute to play against a team that ripped us part earlier in the season and who are doing well right now....hardly a disaster unless you believe that we are going to win every single game we play. Remind me again? How many games have we lost in 2010 so far??? I seem to remember you singing the praises of a manager who only managed 3 wins in 13? How do you square that arguement?
  11. Where exactly do you get the "lack of ambition from"? Just another one of your delusions. As for inconsistancy. Most clubs suffer from it, yes even those that have spent millions.
  12. Feel free to point out where the ref has been blamed for the result Alpine.
  13. I agree with you. Sadly there are a number of "utter zoomers" on here who seem to think that the way forward is to sack a manager every 6 months if they don't win every game! Pardew is doing a good job and should be given time to complete that job. Yet every time we get a poor result (and every team gets poor results) then his job is up for grabs. It is beyond stupid.
  14. The only way to "cure" a hangover is not to drink too much Im afraid!
  15. Blimey, if all you have to do to win people over is to give them a coffee whilst they queue than Max Clifford would have been out of business years ago! The problem Mr Cortese has right now is of his own making. Yep the media have drummed it up but the facts are simple. He did throw his toys out of the pram over the Echo story and he has not been 100% supportive of Pardew in public no matter what has been said behind closed doors. He could have made both things go away by holding an olive branch out to the Echo and by stating publically that he is pleased with Pardew's work. As far as I can see hehas done neither. I don't begrudge him his arrogance- goodness knows we have had enough arrogant CEOs over the past few years - but I do hope that he learns about positive PR and quickly. Pardew will not be short of job offers and if he doesn't feel he has the confidence of his boss I can see him leaving for a club where he will feel supported. LIke others I did feel that his demour was a little odd at Wembley. It was almost like he was saying take a look around you and see what I have delivered this season. THis far outweighs some poor results against Brighton and Tranmere doesn't it? All conjecture of course but I don't think I am alone in thinking that Cortese expects too much too soon and might make the mistake of ditching a decent manager because (like many posters here) he thinks the grass is greener someone else. There is an old saying abourt learning to walk before you can run. It is all vey well to dream of being a force in the Prem and moving to a bigger ground, but we have to get out of two divisions first and that will take time and patience.
  16. We could have ended up with Pinnacle!!!
  17. Surely the fact that it has spread over 9 pages shows that it is an issue. Whether he was booed or not, the reaction here shows that plenty of people can see reasons for a booing. Pardew has the support of a large section of the fan base and has done well for us this season. Cortese has hardly been fulsome in his praise. In fact if anything he has not been very supportive and have been a bit hyper critical. He has shown that he thinks that splashing a few bob should guarantee success, and it doesn't. There is a lot of hard work to be done on the training ground and more players need to come in. We are far from the finished article for an automatic promotion place next season which is no fault of Pardews. These things take time unless you come down and play with pretty much the team you had the previous season. Pardew, like Burley, has to build from scratch and that is not an exact science, no matter what those posters here with no patience would have us believe. Give him time, that goes for Cortese as well as some of the impatient fans.
  18. A third tier level attempt at Fergie mind games?
  19. Durham and his other half are usually given conflicting sides of the argument to try and genrate phone calls. It is very rare that they will agree with each other and what would be the point? They need to get the listerners involved and they do that by being "contraversial". Having said that, Durham could start and arguement in a morgue.
  20. This is what makes the rules of the game so stupid. No consistancy. Why is is ok to send someone off for this in the 50th minute of a league game but not in the first few minutes of a Final? If Vidic had gone the other week it would have been a different game. Surley cheating is cheating, whenever and whereevr it happens? I agree about the "spectacle" etc...but really, is that enough reason to let cheats off?
  21. Yes cheating does matter. If you are going to win, win fair and square. Otherwise what is the point? Maradonna and Henry have both marred great careers with cheating and that is what many will remember them for rather than the skills and excitment they brought to the game. I am glad he wasn't sent off as that would have taken some of the gloss off of the win, but he should have gone for what he did.
  22. God knows there have been enough threads about other things just as "important". For example, even though George Burley left a long time ago and we hve had 4 managers since then you can bet your bottom dollar that someone on here will drag him up again for some spurious reason. Cortese is still relatively new here and people aren't sure what to make of him. He hasn't had the best start what with his childish spat with the Echo and his unfortnate lack of nous when dealing with the press. Hopefully he will learn from these mistakes. The last thing we need is anothre arrogant "non-footballing" CEO with no idea about the media
  23. No doubt DD. Now that Cortese has had a taste of sucess/the limelight perhaps he fancies the job himself? It would be good to have someone take the pressue off of Pardew though. He has a tough job if he is still her next season. He is expected to take us up and if he doesn't he will get the same scorn that some still like to heap on Burley. It doesn't help when the CEO joins in!
  24. I agree, we were strong at the back and up front but weak in the middle. A better side than Carlisle would have exploited that more.
  25. What evidence do you have Weston? And what experience does Cortese have in this department exactly? Isn't this what Lowe was pilioried for? Running a football club with no knowledge of football? Strikes me that Cortese has a lot to learn in this department - backing his manager publically being top of the list. After the last year most of us would have been delighted at a Wembley win and a decent showing in the league. So what has Pardew done to deserve such scant respect exactly???
