It ranks us as 18th and puts West Ham first to save you the time of clicking the link.

I remember Derby away the same season, I think it was only a 1-0 win but we were superb that afternoon and I couldn't see what would go wrong...

Three very different goals from Le Tiss as well to show the variety of his skills.
-
We did beat them at home, I think in their first season up when Redmond scored and celebrated in front of their fans with some reference to Birmingham.

Relegated teams from the past few seasons (3rd from bottom): 2020/21: Fulham 28 2019/20: Bournemouth 34 2018/19: Cardiff 34 2017/18: Swansea 33 2016/17: Hull 34 2015/16: Newcastle 37 2014/15: Hull 35 2013/14: Norwich 33 2012/13: Wigan 36

We beat Newcastle last year on a Friday night to go top https://www.premierleague.com/match/58973

He left and Oxlade-Chamberlain stepped up. De Ridder was the season after.

Juanmi on the scoresheet again for Betis, that’s two in two for him this season.
-
Would they be capped at their ability while at Saints or what they went on to achieve after leaving?
-
Not unless we got new owners. The cost of a "free transfer" is just too much in terms of wages and lack of re-sale value, although, you could argue Theo Walcott is a high status player but I think that is the only circumstance that would allow it for the time being.

Looking at that article above, presumably it's because we gave him a 4 1/2 year contract on money that no other club was prepared to take him on for, hence we loaned him out, probably paying the vast majority of his wages. Tbf, if the club thought he was going to make it then it would have been justified giving him a long contract.

Well written article but depressing read: https://www.prostinternational.com/2021/05/24/meet-southampton-in-2021-the-team-that-became-bewildered-in-both-boxes/

Interesting comment in Guardian match report: : When Fulham almost certainly go down, they will sell off a number of players for a decent price. Burnley will stay up, however, and barely any of their players will attract interest. It’s a strange old world.

I wish we had Everton's 9 League titles and 5 FA Cups.
-
Even the win in that run was tainted by the VVD injury. Did we have five different managers for those? RH (0-9), Hughes (1-2), Pelligrino (1-4), Puel (3-0), Koeman (2-2).

This looks like a faithful remake apart from the font on the sponsor. Hopefully it looks different in real life. https://www.southamptonfc.com/store/hummel/saints-1989-91-away-shirt-white-retro/c-1/c-426/p-4751

He does look physically strong but I presume people are thinking he isn't up for it because of the way Calvert-Lewin roughed him up a bit on Monday.
-
Largely been terrible this season as a whole though. It's a no from me.
-
We were awful in that game against Everton. I recall Cedric Soares' "efforts" at left back being a particular lowlight.
-
The likes of Lallana, Schneiderlin, Cork and McGoldrick seemed to have gone on to do alright. Obviously last night was stupid, reckless etc. but I can't fault him for wanting to play games. I think more players would benefit from regular football at a younger age. Hopefully he'll learn from this as he appears to be highly rated.
-
Good article on his contribution and statistical comparison to other players here: https://www.prostinternational.com/2021/01/25/ibrahima-diallo-the-multi-string-jewel-in-southamptons-revamped-scouting-crown/

I don't know why nobody has ever mentioned this before.
-
There's always an assumption that player X would have made it if he'd stayed at the club but for some players being released is the catalyst they need to make them become the player they are.
-
🤣 if you're thinking of putting money on Saints to win the PL you'd be better off buying some of those smelling salts to wake yourself up a bit.

Any recommendations for 20/21 season?
