I don't know the lad personally but can't see him wanting to move abroad after getting homesick going to London a few years ago.

He wanted to go back to Spain after he'd given us years of service and there were visible signs of decline in performances. It was fair enough in my book. As usual though we failed to replace him adequately.

Doubt it's true in any way but we probably do need another CM this season. Aribo going, Smallbone might be moved on. Would leave us with Downes, Charles and Sesay.

Exactly. It sounds like Saints have put a very good contract offer to him. There's nothing stopping him signing it and helping us get promoted this season and maybe help us stay there before moving onto a top 4 club if he excels. He's still very young, there's no massive need for him to jump ship now.

Tend to agree with this. £40m plus a 20% sell on clause would be a decent deal. What happens if it gets to deadline day and we end up selling him without a replacement?

One report claiming Everton are prepared to walk away if our valuation doesn't drop. It'll be interesting to see what happens next as they desperately need signings. We also need to sell Dibling really to stop him leaving for a low fee next summer.

I was thinking the same about Fraser. He isn't the best player in the world but he does have a good cross and also works his socks off. He was certainly better than Armstrong today. Don't like him at a false 9 or a 10 though. His best position is out wide.

First half was dire. After we scored we created a few chances and decent situations. A mixture of us bringing on more forward thinking players, a change of system and Brighton tiring.

I agree - don't really like 5 at the back but it kinda suits.

Bazunu; Welington, Quarshie, Edwards, Sugawara, Downes/Sesay, Charles, Armstrong, Robinson, Archer, Downs. Obviously Fernandes plays if he's available.

My take on Quarshie is that whilst both goals were probably his fault, he does have some very good attributes. Great in the air, quick, powerful, loud. He's a bit raw in his actual defending though. He was a bit unlucky with the second one because he blocked off the left side of the goal but the ball went just past/through his leg. The first was totally on him, he showed Minteh way too much of the goal and gave him too much time.

Charles is clearly more of a box to box midfielder than he is a DM. In theory he should thrive next to Downes.
