Seen someone saying it's THB RB, Downes and Stephens CB and KWP LB. Surely not..
-
Can you imagine Victor Wanyama playing for RM. Well that's the problem - he wouldn't get in the side. Appalling passer of the ball but for two seasons dominated some of the best midfielders in the league due to just how bloody good he was as a destroyer. He left Schneiderlin and Davis to do the pretty stuff.
-
Manning was terrible last season and seemed to play all the time but oddly he's defended better this season yet is brought in and out of the side. Who knows with RM.
-
Yeah he hasn't been seen for a while. Can only assume a falling out - performance wise he's been pretty solid.
-
Ryan Fraser playing LB when we've got Manning, Sugawara and Taylor available. What the actual fuck?
-
It'll be interesting to see how season ticket sales go next season if we are as good as down by Xmas and RM is still in charge next season.
-
No one will be able to keep us up now. The board have made their decision and the blame lies solely at their feet. Anger should be directed at them for the rest of the season.
-
Yep, seems better at the off the ball stuff (no use for a RM side). Just seen that statistically he's been the best CDM in the league so far this season.
-
Arne Slot has said that Saints are "a joy to watch" and should have had points in almost every game this season. So that's now the two best managers in the league praising Russell and his style of play. The bloke must be absolutely loving this.
-
Well yes, if we are sticking to the same course then it does seem like it.
-
Martin: "[A result] can change everything, give the players big belief. I don't think they're lacking in belief but it gives them confidence. We'll keep on course, trust the work and each other, at some point it'll come." Trust the process.

No issues from me. You'd like to think him removing himself from the situation for a few days might help him realise how bad our current plight is and come up with something to help improve it. I'm expecting the complete opposite.
-
Not sure but I've heard he's due back in about 2 weeks.
-
Taylor for me. The thought of Wood coming up against Salah, Diaz etc. Terrifying.
-
Far too pally with the players. The best managers are respected by their players but not best mates with them. This is the Premier League not Sunday League football.
-
It's looking tight in race for the champions league places. Big game this weekend and a chance to overtake our opponents and move into the top 3. I've got absolutely no doubt Russ will be able to pull it off. UTS!
-
Clearly by "outside" he means people in football but I can tell you one thing, literally everyone I know who isn't a Saints fan thinks Martin's tactics/style is a load of shite. Also... the players haven't been good enough. The same players that were signed by SR themselves!? It's really quite amusing.

His distribution is better than McCarthy's (hard not to be) but I agree it isn't great.

I'd be over the moon with OGS at the minute.

We did play some decent stuff against the poorer sides in the division (as you'd expect us to) but against some of the better sides we looked like we do in pretty much every game this season - awful. The Sunderland, Leicester thrashings coupled with two defeats to Ipswich, a pathetic away showing at Bristol City, another terrible one at home to Hull. There's probably more. How we have started this season is no surprise what so ever.
-
Exactly. I said on another thread the other day that it's different from when we sacked Ralph - although things were heading in the wrong direction we were still outside the bottom 3. This time around we are rock bottom of the league having made the worst start in our history. It can't get any worse.
-
Tbf they planned to hire Nathan Jones. Obviously not the case with Selles.
-
🚨⚪️ Postecoglou: “Inconsistency this season is down to me. That's my responsibility”. “The inconsistency we're having this year, ultimately it comes down to me and my approach”. “It’s something I need to try and fix and see if I can help the players in that area”. That's what Ange Postecoglou said after their loss today. Shows strong leadership and awareness that he may have to adapt as a manager. The total opposite of RM.

It was easy for the fans to voice their displeasure over Jones because some of the stuff he was coming out with in the media. Russell talks just as much shit but gets away with it as people think he's a "nice guy" when to me he actually seems very arrogant. I guess having a promotion under your belt helps too but that doesn't wash with me (we were very lucky to go up IMO). No doubt SR would've stuck with Jones for longer if the fans hadn't have turned. Sadly I just can't see this happening to Martin. As you say, a fair few still clap the bloke at the end of games as if he's the messiah.

I don't trust them either, doesn't mean I back Martin. I'd have anyone in charge over him at the moment.
