So Gove supported Boris then, after shafting him, supported Leadsome and now said that he will give his full support to May. Hope she wears a stab-proof vest when Michael's around.
-
I see that Leadsom's had to re-publish her CV after she claimed that she had experience of managing "hundreds of people and billions of funds" and “managing the investment banks team at Barclays”. In fact she never managed any funds and, according to one retired senior banker who worked with her, she didn't manage any teams, large or small.
-
You certainly put forward a lucid and cogent argument. You're not a past President of the Oxford University Debating Society by any chance?
-
If you work in a small business, you'd better hope that Leadsom doesn't get in. This is what she said in Parliament in 2012: “I envisage there being absolutely no regulation whatsoever—no minimum wage, no maternity or paternity rights, no unfair dismissal rights, no pension rights—for the smallest companies that are trying to get off the ground, in order to give them a chance."

Who said in 2013: “I don’t think the UK should leave the EU. I think it would be a disaster for our economy and it would lead to a decade of economic and political uncertainty at a time when the tectonic plates of global success are moving. “Like the rise and fall of the Roman and Greek Empires we are seeing the rise of the Asian and South American economies at a time when our own future is less certain. And to be honest economic success is the vital underpinning of every happy nation. The wellbeing we all crave goes hand in hand with economic success.” Another opportunist jumping on the Brexit bandwagon.

The "other" is a homophobic welshman. So, as the Daily Mash put it: "Two half-baked Thatcher clones, an evil woodland troll, a Welsh Christian homophobe with an untrustworthy beard and the creepiest man in politics since Norman Tebbit."

Glenn Hoddle has invented a new word: fatigueness - as in "The Iceland team look to have some fatigueness".

Claude Puel (edited) interview video and communication issues

Eric Black spent 5 years at Metz and speaks fluent French. -
But Gove has said on more than one occasion that he didn't want the job and "If anyone wants to get me to sign a piece of parchment in my own blood saying that I don't want to be Prime Minister, if that's what it takes, then I'm perfectly happy to do that." Surely he wouldn't lie, would he?
-
I don't know why you're so worried. Once the Brexit lot has published their plan, everything will be sunshine and light. They do have a plan, don't they? Surely they wouldn't embark on such a momentous change without first drawing up a detailed programme of how do deal with the hundreds of strategic issues that will need to be addressed? Or am I being naive?

Can you give us some numbers to back that up bearing in mind that the club owes her £40m? -
A Tory lesbian Prime Minister? All the old retired Colonels in Tunbridge Wells would have apoplexy.

France score 2 in 3 minutes.

He's probably holed up with Michael Gove saying "What the f*ck do we do now?"

As someone who would vote Labour in the right circumstances, I found it amusing (and a bit depressing) to see John McDonnell talking to Andrew Neil and saying that they should all unite behind Corbyn as there may be a General Election before the end of the year. Corbyn hasn't a hope in hell of winning an election. Don't these "activists", Union leaders and party members realise that you can't change anything in opposition so you need a leader who will appeal to a broad spectrum of the electorate. Tony Blair may have turned out to be a bit of a tosser but he won 3 elections by getting the votes of middle England as well as what used to be Labour's traditional support.

This is where problems could arise. About 75% of MPs are pro-EU and there is also a majority in the Lords. Any new legislation will have to get through the Commons. At that point, the referendum is irrelevant. The Government would have complied with the result, but we may end up with new laws that aren't a lot different to the present. I see that the backtracking has already started. Farage has disowned the "£350m which will go to the NHS" claim and now MEP Dan Hannan and MP Nigel Evans (both from the leave campaign) have said that they couldn't promise that immigration will come down.
-
Reminds me of a remark made by Nigel Farage when asked why UKIP*always did badly in London despite it having very high immigration. He replied that Londoners were generally too young and well-educated.
-
No, but with all the lies and deception put out by both sides and papers like the Mail and Express, it needed a fair bit of digging to find out any reliable data. The Independant's sister paper, The i, adopted a strictly neutral stance and did a good job of trying to present the facts behind the various issues as well as having contributions from both sides.
-
Seeing that Ashcrofts's survey showed that remain voters tended to be younger and better educated, you could be right.

Leicester have decided not to sell their best players
ecuk268 replied to Nordic Saint's topic in The Saints
So, in Victor's case, we keep a player who doesn't want to be here until his contract runs out next summer and he walks away for nothing. -
I heard an interview with him just before the final game of the season and he spoke about the situation when he was at Feyenoord. He had a 1 year contract and simply renewed it at the end of each season for 3 years until he left to come here. Apparently, this is quite common in Europe and he seemed a bit bemused about the practice of signing a new contract a year before the current one ends.

There is another explanation - money. Both managers have gone to clubs that have significantly more financial resources than we do. So, what are the board meant to do? Ms Leibherr has always stated that the club has to be self-sufficient and we can only spend what we earn. Unlike other owners, she is not going to throw money at the club with no prospect of getting a return. If you do that you end up like Leeds. The club owes her around £40m although that is in the form of soft loans ie. very low interest and no specified payment terms. I'd rather we were run with a degree of financial prudence than risk spending money that we don't have. Unfortunately, in today's game money talks and with the honourable exception of Leicester (for 1 season), the richest clubs tend to be at the top of the table. We can give them a run for their money as we showed last season but I can't see us having the financial muscle to do it every year and any ambitious manager will follow the money. Everton's new owner is an unknown quantity so Ron's taking a (well-paid) risk. He may manage Europa League next season, if he doesn't, I wouldn't be surprised to see him leave.

Mrs ecuk268 gave me my Omega as a wedding present over 40 years ago and I still wear it virtually every day. It packed up once when I wore it whilst swimming in the Med but my local watchmaker in St James Road restored it to full health. I have it cleaned and the oil changed every 3 or 4 years and it still keeps very good time and looks as good as new.

I was told that on a real Rolex, the second hand moved in increments whereas, on a fake, it moved smoothly (or the other way round). Is this no longer the case?
-
But will the board give him the transfer kitty that he's after if he's only staying to the end of the season? I would have thought that they may want a longer term commitment if they are to spend a substantial sum.
