I was up on Level 5 level with the 18-yard box and it seemed quite full. It wasn't until I got home and watched a bit on the TV that I saw the vast empty spaces higher up. Yes' it's been a crap season but I'm surprised that more people didn't take the chance to see Saints play at Wembley. It might not happen again for a while.
  2. Well put. Both my dad and my brother would have been there if they hadn't succumbed to the Big C (in my dad's case, many years ago but my brother only a couple). Although we all get so worked up about it , it doesn't really matter when compared to real life. Make the most of your time and enjoy the day.
  3. Lost his dad at 18. Bayern seemed to do a lot to help him. https://inews.co.uk/sport/football/pierre-emile-hojbjerg-guardiola-bayern-munich/
  4. I think that Putin would make a quite good manager. I'm sure that he'd motivate the team.
  5. Exactly. May said that it was the pictures of the children that convinced her to go ahead. But she was quite happy to refuse to take in 3000 Syrian children when local authorities had plans to accept them and the Commons had approved it. Probably didn't want to upset the Daily Mail.

  7. Interesting to contrast the current reaction to the gassing to events in the 80s during the Iran-Iraq war. Saddam Hussein gassed hundreds of Iranians with hardly a mention in the western media. When Robert Fisk of The Times reported on visiting the area and seeing the aftermath of the gassing, the Foreign Office contacted the editor of The Times complaining that Fisk was being "unhelpful". Of course, we were were supporting Saddam at the time so the gassing was being done by the good guys which made everything OK.
  8. It's not being broadcast in isolation. There will be analysis and I'm sure, criticism. It was a significant event so it's right that those who weren't around at the time get the chance to hear it and judge for themselves.
  9. Entertaining times but I there was less of a gap between the "big" sides and the rest. Now you can predict the top 5 or 6 clubs each year because they can outspend everyone else. Back then you had clubs like Ipswich, Derby, Saints, Notts Forest all pushing for the top. Apart from the fluke that was Leicester, I can't see that happening again.
  10. As you're so certain, I assume you'll be down at Ladbrokes putting all of your life savings on.
  11. Agree with every word. It teaches them that you can't always win and, when you lose, you pick yourself up and have another go. Nothing lasts forever and better times will come eventually and, when they do, you appreciate them more if you've been through the bad ones.
  12. It depends how you use social media. If you use Facebook on a smartphone the data they collect includes tracking where you are, what applications you have installed, when you use them, what you use them for, access to your webcam and microphone at any time, your contacts, your emails, your calendar, your call history, the messages you send and receive, the files you download, the games you play, your photos and videos, your music, your search history, your browsing history, even what radio stations you listen to. Google are even worse.
  13. Which raises a few suspicions. Another defector was quoted as saying that when the Russians want traitors dead they are usually very efficient. Maybe it was a rogue element working without official approval. Another thing that amused me was the sight of men in big hazmat suits with breathing sets working in the centre of Salisbury with shoppers walking past about 20 yards away.
  14. Indeed, but he usually tweets comments on everything under the sun but has not said a word about this. I was reading an interview with the ex-director of the CIA who doesn't rule out the possibility that Putin has some damaging material on Trump hence his reluctance to voice any criticism.
  15. Strange silence from the arch-tweeter Mr Trump.
  16. Watched it again on Friday. Still one of the best films.
  17. He did present the medals at my son's Tyro League awards evening in 1999. Does that help?
  18. WGS would be good. Not keen on Silva. started well with Watford but seemed to lose interest when Everton came sniffing around.
  19. Sad news.... https://rochdaleherald.co.uk/2018/03/03/uks-youngest-pro-brexit-voter-has-died-aged-seventy-three/

Do you have to pay to watch them on TV?
  22. it says "off-pitch subjects". Does that mean that anything to do with the team or manager is not for discussion?
  23. Have a look at the traffic map on the Romanse site. it gives a pretty good indication of live traffic conditions. You can also use Google maps if you turn the traffic option on.
  24. I stopped getting it when they stopped publishing on Saturday evenings. It wasn't the same having to wait until Sunday. As a nipper, I used to go to the newsagents with my dad every Saturday night and, later did the same with my own son. Always remember Bob Brunskell's reports which were very biased. We might have lost 0-4 but Bob would write "Unlucky Saints go down fighting". It must have been quite an achievement putting it all together with all the local footy stuff and having out on the streets by 6.30 or so.
  25. Actually reading the document, I came across this statement regarding trade: “In the absence of agreed solutions, the United Kingdom will maintain full alignment with those rules of the internal market and the customs union.” So does that mean if we can't strike a deal, we are bound by the single market and customs union but have no say in any amendments?
