Trial postponed until March due to courtroom cock-up. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/9298367.Saints_player_could_wait_months_for_trial/

Small shops in town centres cannot compete with the free parking, generally lower prices and vast range of products that the big supermarkets provide. In the suburbs, small shop can survive if they stay open long hours. If I need a paper or milk or bread, I'll stroll up to the local shop. Unfortunately, the Tesco Expresses are taking over here. They should be confined to their big stores.

Sainsburys because it's convenient, but fruit and veg from the stall on Shirley High St. Miles cheaper than the supermarkets. Lidl in Shirley is a bit grotty but the one in Eastleigh is quite presentable. I have a passion for their oven chips.

I've had an Inspiron 6400 for 5 years and it's still fine. New batteries are about £40 for a high capacity one if you shop around. If I'm just browsing on the net I can get nearly 4 hours per charge. I'd ditch Vista if I were you - it's bloated and slow. Go back to XP or forward to Windows 7 or, if you want to get rid of Windows completely, try Ubuntu.

The problem with the Itchen waterfront is that it's all used. Apart from the Town Depot, the rest of it is in use as boatyards or gravel wharfs. The cost of relocating these businesses, especially Solent Aggregates which is a big site, would be considerable.
-
Well, it is a footy site. Not much interest in the old scrotum sniffers, bit too stop start for my taste.
-
That is correct but will it ever happen?

The Mirror sells twice as many as the Telegraph and nearly three times as many as the Times. The average Sun reader doesn't give a toss about it's politics as shown by Murdoch supporting whoever he thinks likely to win. What I find worrying is that the Star (is it really a newspaper) outsells the Telegraph, Times and Express. What does that say about the newspaper buying public?

There is some factual evidence to this. A recent study by the LSE using raw US data showed that IQ was higher in those with more left-wing or liberal views and fell as you moved to the right. They did the same with religion and found that IQ fell as devoutness (is that a word?) increased.

Me too. Can't beat a nice open fire on a gloomy winter evening. If the chimney hasn't been used for a while, get it checked. It may have a bird's nest in it and some of them can be affected by rain causing the mortar to deteriorate. Once you've removed the gas fire, light some paper in the hearth and see what happens to the smoke.

Interesting to hear that they had to round people up and ask them to go to the speech as the hall was looking a bit empty.
-
Some people are so picky.
-
That speech could have been written for Tony Blair. We know that Cameron's been consulting Blair on Middle East matters and is an admirer of him, so perhaps he's getting him to write his speeches.

Saw an MLT hat-trick in absolutely appalling weather (sleet and high winds) against Leicester at The Dell.

Go into PC World and have a play, and when you've decided, go and buy it somewhere else.

Died age 52. Decent fast bowler in his day. Also capable of getting a few runs. 41 Tests including the famous '81 series against the Aussies.

Once the CBI and the rest of the big companies who finance the Tories made their views known, very few Tory MPs would vote to leave.

I was also in the Chapel and couldn't understand a word.
-
Not a chance of it happening. Cameron was on BBC this morning basically saying that there was no way that we would leave the EU and he wasn't interested in a referendum.
-
I find it strange that a UKIP supporter (our good friend dune) supports a party that will never take us out of Europe because they would lose the support of big business from which comes their cash. William Hague said as much yesterday.
-
There's a lot of that sort of thing in Brighton (so I'm told)....

Exactly. Cortese doesn't need to be popular. He runs the club his own way and, so far, he's done good job. We're top of the league and playing decent footy in front of bigger crowds than some Premiership teams. If he's annoyed a few sensitive souls, that's tough. MLT is entitled to his opinion. Just accept that they don't see eye to eye, it doesn't matter.

Saudi woman to be lashed for defying driving ban

If you think that's extreme, they've just beheaded a bloke for sorcery. What a liberal enlightened country it is. -
My lad and I thought it was a good night. Paul Merson could make a living as an after-dinner speaker - he tells a good story.

Ridiculous amount of money. We had a village hall for our reception with local caterers. No honeymoon as all our cash went on buying a house. A girl at work got married recently. She was complaining about not being able to buy their own place, yet they were having 3 weeks in Thailand for a honeymoon. All a question of priorities.
