Is the Chairman of Glamorgan still on the board of the EWCB? Not that it would have anything to do with Cardiff getting another Test....................

The Time Travellers Guide to Medieval England by Ian Mortimer. Fascinating look at how ordinary people lived in the 1300's. What they ate, wore, where they lived, what happened when they got ill, what jobs they had. A lot's been written about Kings and Lords but this looks at the lower classes and the types of lives they led.

Used to work with a guy called Jim Brown - middle name Charles. Inevitably ended up being called Digger.

For any locals at a loose end tonight, there's a talk (with videos) by Dave Juson on the history of SFC. It's in the Lecture Theatre in the Civic at 7.00pm.

1. Landing on the moon 2. Saints winning the Cup Final. 3. The Internet 4. Cuban missile crisis (remember someone at school telling us we'd all be dead before we went home). 5. John Lennon's death.

I see that Cork has not been offered a new contract. Presumably Katich will be the new captain although I think Jimmy Adams deserves a go.

I was at work and saw it on the net. Had a hotdog at the top of the WTC in '96 and was chatting to the young guy who served us about basketball. Hoped that he'd got another job by 2001.

Bananarama. At one time the biggest-selling female group. Absolute garbage.

An intelligent articulate BNP member? Isn't that an oxymoron?

Been there a few times for work. Much as others have said. Some nice restaurants though.

If you look at the key sequences, there is no way that a drunk person would type like that. He's a bull****ter.

Sally Taylor I try to dislike Fred "The Skate" Dineage but actually find him OK.

Didn't do history at school then? The Euphrates delta was the birthplace of education and learning. They were doing literature, maths, science and agriculture around 2-3000 BC when the natives of these shores were running around in animal skins trying to catch enough wildlife to keep from starving.

Brilliant place. New Yorkers are very direct but very friendly. The subway is a good way to get around, although walking can be rewarding. Macy's is huge, go up the Empire State twice - day and night. Boat trip to Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Central Park. Don't be worried about crime, it's a pretty safe place - just be sensible as you would in any big city. We stayed on West 35th St near the Empire State and Macys and also not far from Sparks Steakhouse where Paul Castellano was gunned down by John Gotti's men while Gotti and Sammy "The Bull" Gravano sat in a van down the street and watched.

Not quite the same, but I a few years ago I paid £1500 deposit to a loft conversion company who promptly went bust. Fortunately, I'd used Mastercard for the deposit and got it all back quite painlessly.

Would've been easier to use a boat.

The Stalls and the Circle are sold out. We're perched up in the Balcony.

Me and ecuk268 junior will be there. Not many tickets left.

There was an article in the Independent recently on how Muslim professional footballers cope with Ramadan. There's a surprising number of them in the 4 leagues. They still maintain their nutrition to stay fit but cut out the luxuries and have a much plainer diet.

Agreed. This is when tribal differences come to the surface. The rebels from the East and West Libya are distinctly different and it'll need a strong leader to hold it all together as The Colonel did.

But we are completely beholden to them as regards Trident. We lease the rockets from the US Navy. The warheads use US components and are built by Lockheed-Martin at Burghfield who own much of the critical machinery used in the manufacturing process. The targeting software is bought from the US and possibly contains hidden "worms" that give the US some control. The maintenance base in Plymouth is owned by a US company. Hardly independent. Even Maggie Thatcher's government was forced to admit that we are entirely dependent on the US for our nuclear weapons.

I would have thought that the obvious advantage would be regular attendance at St Marys. I assume that you have raised them as Saints fans.

Lurk in the bushes with a bucket of water or a hose and give them a good soaking. One of those kid's water guns are useful as they have quite a good range. Cats hate water. Do it few times and they should stay away.

We started putting it on some ancient PC's (10 years old) and using them as thin clients to our Terminal Server. Works fine. Certainly a lot faster than Windows. I've got it at home as a dual boot on my PC. It comes with a lot of software and it's quick. Compared to Windows? Plusses and minuses, but certainly worth a look.
