  1. What amazes me is that people are willing to humiliate themselves on these programmes. The producers deliberately pick a proportion of absolute no-hopers so that we can all have a good laugh at them. And as for the people on Jeremy Kyle, where do they find them?
  2. France (zillions) Holland (x2) Denmark Spain (x2) Italy (x2 work not holiday) Belgium (x2) USA
  3. The problem with foreign aid is that it's not about directly helping people, it's about political influence. Hence Pakistan can afford its own nuclear progam but will still give them loads of dosh to try and keep them on side and not becoming more extremist. Whether that's successful or not is a matter of debate.
  4. Back in the dark ages when I was at Barton Peveril Grammar, you had to do it if you wanted to ride your bike to school.
  5. My broad beans keep getting decimated by the f*cking pigeons.
  6. Sugar Puffs for me, but usually mix them with Special K so it's a bit healthier.
  7. For me, his biggest sin was getting rid of Jimmy Case, one of our best ever midfielders. He told Jimmy that he wouldn't fit in to his style of football. How right that was. Who did he replace him with? Terry Hurlock. We used to take bets on when in the match he'd get his yellow card.
  8. Unfortunately, it's also going to P*rtsmouth where it'll either be stolen or they'll all bow down in wonder at the "Magical Fire Stick"
  9. Followed by the Norwich - Saints game from '94.

It will, because astrology is total ********.
  11. Stop sitting on the fence. Tell us what you really think.
  12. I bought a 3050 for home a couple of months ago. It's Ok. Not particularly fast but fine for home use. We tried a number of Canons at work but found them a bit heavy on cartridges.
  13. The woman who'd been trained by Al Gore, Desmond Tutu and the Dalai Lama and had worked with 8 Nobel Prize Winners? Are these people serious? If they all been so successful, what do they want with a mere £250k?
  14. I don't think that Blatter is either senile or a fool. He's a very astute political animal who's expert at getting his own way by whatever means necessary (and not getting caught).
  15. Mick Channon was about to sign for Swindon when Ted Bates nabbed him on a Sunday (against the rules, apparently).
  16. Yes, we all make mistakes as parents. But I wouldn't call deliberately going out for dinner and leaving a 4-year old and 2-year old twins on their own in an unlocked apartment "a mistake". As well as the possibility of abduction, children of this age are extremely inquisitive and have no sense of danger. Anything could have happened. You cannot leave kids of this age alone. It's negligence of the highest order.
  17. Indeed. If you're interested in how the tabloids distort and misrepresent scientific studies, "Bad Science" is a good read. Even the more reputable papers sometimes get it wrong. He also demolishes the whole homeopathy business as a waste of time. Had to see my GP the other day and he was saying that he despairs over some of the scare stories, especially in the Mail who seem to think that everything gives you cancer.
  18. Is this the right plaice for this?
  19. I think that dates back to just before the '76 final. He was quite dismissive and said that we had no chance.
  20. Exactly. The CBI have estimated the cost to industry of the extra day off at around £7.5bn.
  21. No problem with the Royal Family taking a back seat as in other European countries and get rid of a few of the hangers-on, but how do you come by a new head of state. Do we want a Reagan or a Bush or some over-the-hill politician? The armed forces swear allegiance to the Crown, not the government which, theoretically, protects us from some nutty politician trying to stage a coup. I think that most peoples respect for the monarchy is for the Queen. When she's pops off I think attitudes may change.
  22. If Harry was there, shouldn't James Hewitt have been invited?
  23. His obituary doesn't mention his "fondness" for young boys. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/people/obituary-ken-baily-1467167.html
  24. I've listened to Solent at many places on the Northern French coast and also in a car park at Heathrow.
  25. Remember going to The Dell early one morning to get some Cup tickets. For some reason, although the car park was virtually deserted, he directed me to "the 3rd space from the end in the 2nd row". One of The Dell's true characters.
