Interesting copper's view on the situation. http://inspectorgadget.wordpress.com/ He points out that officers asked for assurance that they would not be "served up like PC Harwood" if they charged the rioters and a rioter was injured. Senior officers would not give that assurance.

Just after the game started, probably about 5:20 ish. He did look as if he'd been hurrying.

Saw him at the Rose Bowl on Sunday. He got a round of applause as he made his way to his seat.

I used to be involved with marine trials work on fast craft on the Solent and some of the yachties are a menace. They still believe in "sail before steam" regardless of the fact that a tanker can take miles to stop and many minutes to change course.

Times have changed since the days of the "gentleman" directors such as Alan Woodford, Basil Bowyer and George Reader. You need a hard-nosed businessman at the helm and that's what we've got. He doesn't need to be popular - he's judged by results and he's doing OK so far.

As someone commented on the Echo website, any liner calling at Liverpool will be found up on bricks with the propellers missing. -
Has he been seen in Sainsburys yet? Or would he be a Waitrose type?

I'd agree with that, along with Marion's goal against the Skates.

Don't let them fob you off with "it's the manufacturer's responsibility". Under the Sale of Goods Act the retailer is fully responsible for getting it sorted.

Got a radio/cassette from about '79 still going strong. At work we've got an HP Laserjet 4 from '94 in daily use - just never goes wrong.

A good choice. I found Tony Adams autobiography a good read. He comes across as an intelligent, thoughtful bloke and he doesn't shy away from his past problems with booze. Doesn't try and blame anyone else although it did seem to be a bit of a culture at Arsenal at the time.

Anyone ever used it? I'm in dispute with a company over a service that they cocked up. They're refusing to refund me and even contradicting their own literature. The amount of money in dispute is relatively small, it's more a point of principle than the money. Is it easy and, in the unlikely event that I lose, how much could it cost?

In his later years, Benny had a house in Westrow Gardens near The Dell. When my nipper was young, we were always on the Common with a kite or football etc and often saw Benny out for a stroll.

Bought an LG 37" last year. Pleased with it - good picture and loads of inputs (USB, ethernet etc). Comes with software to run on a PC so that it acts as a media server so you can watch films or look at your holiday pics. Or you can just stick them on a memory stick and plug it in. You can buy a dongle for wireless connection to your router but it's about £80. I just ran an ethernet cable. Also has NetCast which gives access to Youtube, Facebook, Google Maps, BBC iPlayer and other stuff. One drawback, and common to many flatscreens, is that the sound isn't brilliant. External speakers will fix that.
