Wow, you are such a better fan that you wont to beat a League 1 team more than anything else. I couldn't give a flying f@@@ if we ever played them ever again. We have nothing to gain apart from the billy big boots bragging, whoopee, they have everything to gain. I dont believe our team have the balls to take the game to them, and like all derbies how good you are mean nothing on the day, they will raise their game and we could well wither. When they were struggling in the PL we went there and them beating us 1-0 gave the whole of their dump was given a lift and was the flux to help them stay up, we dont want something to like that to happen again. I was there in the Pompey crowd at Fratton in 74 on our first competitive match with them for years ( no segregation that day) and singing OWTS was perhaps a tad foolish but I was naïve. 84 probably dwarfs 76 for the life experience. PS I was born in Southampton and proud to be so, and at a game with them am as passionate as most but looking at the big picture we have it all to lose, and whilst as you say losing is not an option it is a good possibility. I assume you are going???

I agree but of course if the outflow starts to gain too much the Government could slash corporation tax to below the Irish level. Needs must I suppose. There are some good brains making strategy behind the scenes I should hope, surely we wont just stand back and let it go too far down the drain... but who knows. I notice someone mentioned Trump and not trusting him, Im suspicious kind of encouraging us to leave and once we have and vulnerable we are then left to the wolves of wall street.

I listened to the Saints podcast and it was interesting to hear Adam Leitch rightly say that the fans really excited by this tie are the ones ho wont be going. I think the last time we played an evening game there, we won and their fans smashed up their own city, lol

Lol, only in your puny brain.

fair point and the massive market of the EU was the reason I wished to stay in. We are also a large market of 65-70m people who the EU would like to deal with of course. I remember the UK before it had membership and it wasnt utopia I can promise you that. Membership of the EU has without doubt made us a more affluent society.
-
Have you?? I havent apart from the highlights. We are a big project and it will take 3 seasons for Ralph to turn it around, whether he will stay that long is another thing!
-
I recall all the Les men who backed him to the hilt on here!!! To think he has a top job a the FA!!. All the VVD money has been wasted, a similar situation as Spurs when they sold Bale. How much Ross Wilson has at his door is hard to quantify but I hope his judgement is a lot better

In my general business life I deal with seriously wealthy and successful business people. The majority voted out and are very calm about our future. I mention my concerns but they believe it will be ok, but at first will be an initial mess. Generally I feel most of the general population are sick of Brexit and want a resolution and get on with it so that we can get on with our lives. At present if No deal doesn't happen we are going to go through another 3-5years of the uncertainty of politicians arguing for their own personal means. They are on indexed linked pensions and good salary so they dont care if it takes years, its a game to them not their business or job at stake. I respect Shurlocks knowledge on the EU as he does seem to be on the ball with the info, but the country is slowly bleeding to death and we need a resolution soon so that we can actually move on. Either we tear up the decision and flop back in( national embarrassment and disgrace, where we will be treated appallingly as we have lost our standing) or leave whether we have a deal or not. It is with trepidation I accept leaving but the population had a vote and that if you believe in democracy we have to do. There is no deal that all would be happy with and so we have to take the best that suits most.

hopefully when they reply against Southend they have got themselves together and are starting to hit some form.
-
Not hard to follow. If they had voted yes the first time would they had a second vote? SO the Irish were kind of bribed. Perhaps there is hope we can be given some morsels and the no deal is avoided. Had the EU been a bit more helpful Cameron may have back with a better chance of avoiding this mess
-
Lol that needs to be sent to Sky and the like
-
e Fair point but it still doesn't gloss over the case that votes have been made by the people and then it is forgotten. Ireland voted out one time and so they had another vote to get the decision changed. Its all cr@p anyway whoever runs the shop doesn't suit all.

The United Kingdom and the Death of Boris Johnson as we know it.
OldNick replied to CB Fry's topic in The Lounge
If we go out, to get back in will meet the EU telling us that we have to have the Euro etc etc. We wont have the same terms as we left, we will be weak and have no hand to play. Once out we have to get on with it, stop moaning about the rights and wrongs and fight for our future. It will be difficult but the options are limited. The opposition to Mays plan may regret not voting for it perhaps. -
I think that is a bit unfair. The French voted a No but were walked over roughshod and it still went ahead. So why wouldn't the same happen with our establishment doing the same in lieu with the Burocrats in Brussels. I recall when Edward Heath was challenged in a pub locally by somebody saying 'We voted for the common market, not to be integrated in the EU' Heaths reply was ' it was all there written in the Treaty of Rome, you should have read it Old Boy' That is the problem IMO only a few would ever read what we were signing up for, its the devil in the detail and the majority would only skim read or just the headlines and make a judgement from there. That is why we are where we are.
-
Could you trust the population to get that referendum correct? lol
-
This is becoming ridiculous and scaremongering IMHO. Surely any proper civil service implements safeguards for all foreseeable problems. If there are no school dinners I suspect that will be the least of our worries as schools will not be open.
-
Arrogant to believe that we can go and make them an offer and they will accept it even though it is different to the negotiated deal. They have said it wont and cant change, surely what you propose is different? Thank-you for your reply btw
-
Ok perhaps in future you can show some respect and rather than try and be offensive ( not that it worries me) and actually come back and give a reasonable reply I notice you kind of back the soft option of another form of soft Brexit if I read that correct. That would be fine by me. Of course are we being arrogant to believe the EU would vote to allow us that??? I would have thought that May would have come back with such a plan if it was on the table.
-
The question was In or Out. The majority voted for the Out.
-
'Apart from the name calling on here, what can anyone sensible come up with to get the nation back on track and trading normally again? ' Tell us your plan then? Tell us how we can find a way out.
-
Apart from the name calling on here, what can anyone sensible come up with to get the nation back on track and trading normally again? We cannot stay in limbo and sadly pushing the nuclear option is the only way for the nation to move on it seems. We cannot rely on MP's as they are looking for their own agendas not really what is best for the nation. Having a 2nd referendum will just add more division. At the end of the day, the question was in or out and the majority said Out. If we believe in democracy then we should wave it through as much as we dislike it
-
Well I thnk they were concerned that the event was the only thing likely to be Victorious today
-
on the match thread I read a couple of posters sying that Redmood nearly made a hash of his goal, it seemed pretty good to me. That tackle was diabolical and we are fortunate that Valery is not seriously injured. As for the Brighton fans booing him!!!!
-
I assume that Brighton have had a good start to the season and we are pretty nervous due to us needing to get some points on the board. I cant see us holding out as we are edgy it seems.

I did wonder if like Clough was not the same without Taylor, perhaps Ralph is lost without Rohl?? Sometimes a partnership just gels and is successful
