The United Kingdom and the Death of Boris Johnson as we know it.
OldNick replied to CB Fry's topic in The Lounge
If we go out, to get back in will meet the EU telling us that we have to have the Euro etc etc. We wont have the same terms as we left, we will be weak and have no hand to play. Once out we have to get on with it, stop moaning about the rights and wrongs and fight for our future. It will be difficult but the options are limited. The opposition to Mays plan may regret not voting for it perhaps. -
I think that is a bit unfair. The French voted a No but were walked over roughshod and it still went ahead. So why wouldn't the same happen with our establishment doing the same in lieu with the Burocrats in Brussels. I recall when Edward Heath was challenged in a pub locally by somebody saying 'We voted for the common market, not to be integrated in the EU' Heaths reply was ' it was all there written in the Treaty of Rome, you should have read it Old Boy' That is the problem IMO only a few would ever read what we were signing up for, its the devil in the detail and the majority would only skim read or just the headlines and make a judgement from there. That is why we are where we are.

Could you trust the population to get that referendum correct? lol
-
This is becoming ridiculous and scaremongering IMHO. Surely any proper civil service implements safeguards for all foreseeable problems. If there are no school dinners I suspect that will be the least of our worries as schools will not be open.
-
Arrogant to believe that we can go and make them an offer and they will accept it even though it is different to the negotiated deal. They have said it wont and cant change, surely what you propose is different? Thank-you for your reply btw
-
Ok perhaps in future you can show some respect and rather than try and be offensive ( not that it worries me) and actually come back and give a reasonable reply I notice you kind of back the soft option of another form of soft Brexit if I read that correct. That would be fine by me. Of course are we being arrogant to believe the EU would vote to allow us that??? I would have thought that May would have come back with such a plan if it was on the table.
-
The question was In or Out. The majority voted for the Out.
-
'Apart from the name calling on here, what can anyone sensible come up with to get the nation back on track and trading normally again? ' Tell us your plan then? Tell us how we can find a way out.
-
Apart from the name calling on here, what can anyone sensible come up with to get the nation back on track and trading normally again? We cannot stay in limbo and sadly pushing the nuclear option is the only way for the nation to move on it seems. We cannot rely on MP's as they are looking for their own agendas not really what is best for the nation. Having a 2nd referendum will just add more division. At the end of the day, the question was in or out and the majority said Out. If we believe in democracy then we should wave it through as much as we dislike it

Well I thnk they were concerned that the event was the only thing likely to be Victorious today
-
on the match thread I read a couple of posters sying that Redmood nearly made a hash of his goal, it seemed pretty good to me. That tackle was diabolical and we are fortunate that Valery is not seriously injured. As for the Brighton fans booing him!!!!
-
I assume that Brighton have had a good start to the season and we are pretty nervous due to us needing to get some points on the board. I cant see us holding out as we are edgy it seems.
-
I did wonder if like Clough was not the same without Taylor, perhaps Ralph is lost without Rohl?? Sometimes a partnership just gels and is successful
-
I noticeIvor Toney has scored his 4thgoal of the season. I feel he could make the jump up to our level....what level that is. Al so Todd Cantwell another Imentioned last seasonhas scored today. About time the club had a new scout lol
-
Is Bertrand injured???
-
I cant ever get a gauge of the game by looking at this feed, the other day it was said that the Burnley game was dire and then it ended up the game of the day on Sky. Funny old times. I do feel that there are not 3 teams worse than us and we are in trouble. There again a good win and performance will change my opinion im sure
-
were those all leavers who were telling us or in the remain camp??
-
lol
-
I voted remain as Ive stated many times before but at no time did any side mention that Ireland would become the central issue.
-
I assume the whole of Ireland would et to vote on that? If only NI then no probs but
-
you cant close the borders of course as they are porous. Perhaps we should make NI a state like Vatican city ( perhaps not the best example with the religious aspect)
-
That's a bit unfair, he must be pretty well off as I was told he had a millionaires shortcake the other day. Only teasing Heis, lol
-
not as much as if we try and let the South take over the North.
-
:)Apparently once we leave the EU all our imports are going to cost a lot more according to the people who know and so our manufacturing costs will go up therefore the goods we try to sell to Eire will be a lot more than the EU ones. Problem solved lol
-
I assume that is a joke? If you want to see a civil war like non before you will get one trying to do that.
