Strangely enough I thought the same last night after reading the FT article telling us Labours thoughts. The retraining of the civil service to be more in line with their theories was most alarming. No more non political ideals similar to how the civil service was manipulated by the Nazis in the occupied lands.

to be fair yours is a one sided criticism. You should be even handed if you want to keep the moral high ground. IMO there has been far too much name calling on both sides.
-
your complacency is surprising

I saw the BBC and there was a Labour politician who said the 'a woman was marched out of Downing street at gunpoint' Chakribati? When further questioned it was she sescorted out by a policeman who had a gun. I suspect all of them in the area are armed and so difficult no to be armed, but a lie as it was not at gunpoint. All MP's are shameless in their lies and fake news.

I suspect you are correct but mainly due to the shortage of labour. We are basically fully employed Ihave read. You seem to be missing my point though (easily done with my construction of posts) increasing the MW does not mean people are better off,all it does is make the bottom line of the product higher and so the manufacturers employers have to put their prices up, so that eats up the increase and potentially more so. It is a delicate balancing act.To me taking the low paid out of tax altogether would be a better way. If it meant putting 2pon the higher rate tax to do so that would be fine by me to see those hard working people have some more. I dont employ per say and so it is not self interest that I dont wish for a hike in the minimum wage(although I suggest there are at least 5 families are totally reliant on my success however poor that may be) The grab of shareholders and business assets by the guise of 10% must go to the workers is a blatant sham and vote buyer, as it will be capped at £500 maximum the rest going to the exchequer. **** Turpin would blush at that

I agree, but we can recover from No deal. The pound is falling on the fear of both and the added scare of Corbyn will really shove it down more. It is carnage and will only get worse. The flow of foreign companies leaving the UK will increase dramatically now I feel. Any company that was borderline whether to stay or leave will IMHO go , they cant afford to wait for the change of government. As in all things there are winners and losers with the change, some I will be very happy to have had an upturn in their lives. Increasing the Minimum wage is of course a double edged sword, the wages go up but of course that means costs and potential inflation taking away any gain and perhaps more for the extra money earned. I personally dont thing a minimum of anything helps as that is where the employer will start, much like building standards they are at the minimum as that is where they all head rather than grade upwards.

To a;ll the rabid Brexiteers Id just like to say that you may have just destroyed everything that you beleive in. Reading the FT article on Corbyn and McDonnels vision for Britain sent chills own the spine. By weakening and dividing the UK your actions have opened the door for potentially the governemnt that will destroy the way of life we see now. The policies are there that will drive any hope of investment out of Britian, it will destroy theCity (60% of our national wealth) steal from shareholders, and will be basically stealing for the state. Leaving the Eu will also allow them to nationalise many industries, something they would be unable to do now. You may feel this is knee jerk but when some of you were bragging that they had joined the Labour party so get Corbyn in as their leader I said they were fools, but was told he would never get near No.10, well I suggest he is very close to doing so. You will reap what you sowed and sadly people like myself will also face the same consequences. I truly hope Im wrong and you can scoff at me,but read the article it was pretty sobering.

I was told 2ooo but not sure. I do hope there are not many fans taking their young kids as it will be frightening for them as both sets of fans will be pumped

Lol. I think there are valid posters on both sides. I can see both parts of the argument and jump from one fence to the other depending on my mood lol

Is that set in stone? Now talkagain of a sanp election, oh dear god no. Time then to turn off my social media, I cant stand my champagne socialist friends sending the links to left wing stories while their children go to public/private schools and have Waitrose home delivery
-
But I thought we were going to keep this the same initially, anyway? so that things could be smooth. To a layman like myself the conflicting stories can muddle, yourself and Shurlock seem to be at a better level of understanding on this but it all seems up in the air to all of us

Im sure this maybe the case, but once realism clicks in the Europeans will want it to speed up, all their produce sitting at the ports rotting will focus minds. It is a disaster but I have a faint hope that it may get sorted a tad for everybody. All I read is panic and negativity which in turn is self destructive. That is why I now think we need to jump off the boat and hopefully swim to safety, the constant bickering is driving the majority mad. As for American immigration, that is very annoying but even with a couple of planes going into Florida at the same time it never has taken us more than 2 hours to get through. Very annoying though

Im sure you wont be going.

Wow, you are such a better fan that you wont to beat a League 1 team more than anything else. I couldn't give a flying f@@@ if we ever played them ever again. We have nothing to gain apart from the billy big boots bragging, whoopee, they have everything to gain. I dont believe our team have the balls to take the game to them, and like all derbies how good you are mean nothing on the day, they will raise their game and we could well wither. When they were struggling in the PL we went there and them beating us 1-0 gave the whole of their dump was given a lift and was the flux to help them stay up, we dont want something to like that to happen again. I was there in the Pompey crowd at Fratton in 74 on our first competitive match with them for years ( no segregation that day) and singing OWTS was perhaps a tad foolish but I was naïve. 84 probably dwarfs 76 for the life experience. PS I was born in Southampton and proud to be so, and at a game with them am as passionate as most but looking at the big picture we have it all to lose, and whilst as you say losing is not an option it is a good possibility. I assume you are going???

I agree but of course if the outflow starts to gain too much the Government could slash corporation tax to below the Irish level. Needs must I suppose. There are some good brains making strategy behind the scenes I should hope, surely we wont just stand back and let it go too far down the drain... but who knows. I notice someone mentioned Trump and not trusting him, Im suspicious kind of encouraging us to leave and once we have and vulnerable we are then left to the wolves of wall street.

I listened to the Saints podcast and it was interesting to hear Adam Leitch rightly say that the fans really excited by this tie are the ones ho wont be going. I think the last time we played an evening game there, we won and their fans smashed up their own city, lol
-
Lol, only in your puny brain.

fair point and the massive market of the EU was the reason I wished to stay in. We are also a large market of 65-70m people who the EU would like to deal with of course. I remember the UK before it had membership and it wasnt utopia I can promise you that. Membership of the EU has without doubt made us a more affluent society.
-
Have you?? I havent apart from the highlights. We are a big project and it will take 3 seasons for Ralph to turn it around, whether he will stay that long is another thing!
-
I recall all the Les men who backed him to the hilt on here!!! To think he has a top job a the FA!!. All the VVD money has been wasted, a similar situation as Spurs when they sold Bale. How much Ross Wilson has at his door is hard to quantify but I hope his judgement is a lot better

In my general business life I deal with seriously wealthy and successful business people. The majority voted out and are very calm about our future. I mention my concerns but they believe it will be ok, but at first will be an initial mess. Generally I feel most of the general population are sick of Brexit and want a resolution and get on with it so that we can get on with our lives. At present if No deal doesn't happen we are going to go through another 3-5years of the uncertainty of politicians arguing for their own personal means. They are on indexed linked pensions and good salary so they dont care if it takes years, its a game to them not their business or job at stake. I respect Shurlocks knowledge on the EU as he does seem to be on the ball with the info, but the country is slowly bleeding to death and we need a resolution soon so that we can actually move on. Either we tear up the decision and flop back in( national embarrassment and disgrace, where we will be treated appallingly as we have lost our standing) or leave whether we have a deal or not. It is with trepidation I accept leaving but the population had a vote and that if you believe in democracy we have to do. There is no deal that all would be happy with and so we have to take the best that suits most.
-
hopefully when they reply against Southend they have got themselves together and are starting to hit some form.
-
Not hard to follow. If they had voted yes the first time would they had a second vote? SO the Irish were kind of bribed. Perhaps there is hope we can be given some morsels and the no deal is avoided. Had the EU been a bit more helpful Cameron may have back with a better chance of avoiding this mess
-
Lol that needs to be sent to Sky and the like
-
e Fair point but it still doesn't gloss over the case that votes have been made by the people and then it is forgotten. Ireland voted out one time and so they had another vote to get the decision changed. Its all cr@p anyway whoever runs the shop doesn't suit all.
