Why do seagulls have wings? To beat Pompey fans to scavange the dump
-
I thought he came to do a trial with us?? Die hardmay be a bit of a stretch. If JWP plays for us , Bobby Stokes as well Im sure a Chelsea reserve would if he was paid well. They are all mercenaries. I would have played for Pompey if they had wanted me to.

Women only have to play the best of 3 sets in tennis and men best of 5. The difference between the top 10in the womens game and the rest is massive, with many games going 6-1 6-1.No competition. At the end of the day, when womens football command 60k attendances week in and week out, that billions watch it, then their wages will go up accordingly but there is no way they deserve to be anywhere near a mans wage in this sport at this moment in time.( not that I believe many of the male footballers deserve the pay)

with their transfer ban Id be surprised if they lt him go, but.....

So whats the answer, make everyone the same? There is no law as far as Im aware of being self employed. Start your own business and see how easy it is to survive that way. I agree with Shurlock that there are many who have had the luck of being born into wealth and opportunity, but there are swathes of people who miss out in many parts of life to succeed in business. Sacrifices have been made, missing the kids growing up, not able to commit to social events, sleepless nights concerned that the staff were not going to be paid or where the next customer was going to come from. A lot of people who are successful now have put in the hard yards to get where they are, and so are rightly protective of that. Food banks area double edged sword where they were there to help the very needy I read somewhere has now become the norm and so people spend their money elsewhere and not on food as they have this free. Hence the food banks becoming more important. I dont have the answers to make society fairer ( whatever that is)but stop the wealth creators creating and watch how the rest fall quicker. Tax the top earners much more and the tax revenue will drop and you will see many leave to other countries where they are more welcome. France had a leader last time and he crucified the wealth creators and the French took a hit as their wealthier citizens upped sticks. We are heading for a big recession now anyway and so the wealthy will be poorer and the tax take will be less to share out with the poorer in society.

If everyone increases their wealth by 10% does it not mean someone on a million have a larger amount added to their wealth than someone on 10k ? If im right in that it stands to reason that the wealthier you are your pot grows bigger as time goes by. I agree that there should be ways to stop the superrich having tax loopholes but until we accept that it is better they pay some tax here rather than transfer it to another country we will always have this problem. The super rich are able to be mobile and so difficult to pin down. I think you will find that there is a meeting with the revenue where they sit down with some people of extreme wealth who negotiate how much they are going to pay, rather than get nothing.

A very good balanced post.

If your wife asks you to do stuff around the house...
OldNick replied to doddisalegend's topic in The Lounge
Hes a big tough guy by tryingtobeef upbut then runs to the Police. Its pretty pathetic. Anyway whats wrong with listening to the wife, I do but I dont listen in the true sense. I know that to be true as she tells me -
you may not worry about the excess of waste on the BBC ,you may not pay for a licence as you may be over 75 and so not concerned but I detest the excesses. Why the fck do we need to have a helicopter landing on an oilrig platform in between programmes as a link, tht is just one example, hiring Kylie and the like advertising a programme . Imagine what those cost to produce. A few years ago they presented Top of the Pops from a European country that was staging the World Cup, I cant recall where it was now but again an absolute waste as you had the whole lot over there on a junket.

Abslutely bonkers how much these people are paid. Shearer is an ok pundit but 440kreally, Vanessa Feltz who listens to her. There are not lots of people knocking on the door for these people and so there is no need for these high salaries. I doubt the quality would change if the BBC hired unknowns on 100k Also the bloated BBC employing 1000 more staff with a lower amount of money in.

Stevie Wonder is the mechanic, so as usual all the bits will be there but not put back in the right places, and a load of crap left at the end that you dont know where it was meant for

I was having a chat with a barrister (social lol ) and he told me that London was the centre for corporate law, the French are now setting up their own courts that are English speaking so that they can woo this business away from the UK post brexit. All the UK will be fine and the City will be safe before the vote is becoming as true as the 350m on the side of a bus

What people seem to have not taken into account at Derby is that he scraped into the playoffs and that was with an array of loaned talent worth £150+ m . He had a few standout results and n the cups, but to be truthful against us we should have buried them. In the playoff game against Leeds when they were losing and looking out, he as forced to bring on a sub due to injury who changed th game, not due to managerial brilliance

Purchasing a Tesla through a limited Company...
OldNick replied to Unbelievable Jeff's topic in Motoring Forum
Im no expert but I didnt know you can allow for the car to be put through the business. Unless of course there is a allowance as it is electric. -
lol

Lol, I suppose all are invasions, some of privacy, and some territory

Im with you to a degree, but modern day agents seem to prolong the deal and put it to the media and other clubs hoping to get bites elsewhere In the 2 cases you mention Spurs and Liverpool were better options for them. I liked NC how he wouldn't let agents do this and perhaps the club should put a cut off and walk away, if this is indeed the case
-
There you go showing off with your big words again, Dodger. You are sounding very Del boy lol. Whilst the situation is different the mindset should be the same, if you go into an area where in the main you are going to upset or likely to disrupt an event, you are obviously going to be subject to aggression (to me anyway) Pushing the lady was wrong, but I cant feel any real sympathy for her. Now if he had punched her that would be totally different
-
Its easy , other clubs players good, our players bad
-
I always wondered why a man who made his name playing the long ball system was left in charge of a team that is supposed to play with passing football. Now his team have made to look proper duffers and are on the plane home Boothroyd is not going to resign. That puts our Under 21 prospects back IMO. The squad he had should have done much better and his tactics were woeful. Bringing on 2 centre forwards against France which then made the defence to start pumping balls long and we lost possession so easily. Apparently it was not much better last night
-
No not similar but if I went into the oppositions section I would expect aggression, go into a private meeting that is quite important I would also expect aggression. If he had punched her then I would expect correctly real outrage but being shoved is hardly the worst someone could expect
-
I do get that, but when you become the PM and have to be responsible for rash decisions the finger doesn't press the button quite so hastily. I may be misreading the situation but Boris has always believed he is Churchill and will want to go down in history as a PM that is revered, being totally reckless is not the way 'to go forward together'
-
If you read between the lines Johnson is not likely to go for that type of exit, he will play with Mays deal and make it look like he has got concessions. Its always a play on words and making the new deal seem better than the old one even if it has only just been played about around the edges. The 39bn is peanuts btw as Europe can make it cost 3 times that by adding extra to any transactions by the City of Lndon hen they are trading in Europe. They only have to add .000002to the charge to deal in Europe and the trillions traded each day will soon rack up to many billions

Ive seen opposing supporters in the home end treated much worse than that. It was a bit too rough, but I assume he had had a few glasses of wine and so common sense had left him a bit. As for environment lobbyists, I would think that ANY who go on foreign holidays by using air or sea travel should take a good hard look at their own lifestyle before lecturing anyone else. Its always easy to blame business but if people didnt have ther holidays abroad that would lead to massive reductions in air travel etc etc etc
