I have only watched the 30 minute highlights on Sky, but it seems to me that Charlie is fitterand sharper than he was. He did one or 2 decent touches and he was prettysharp getting in front of the defender when Bertrands cross came across the box. Okhe didnt quite get there but he got in fromnt of the defender. Good sign IMO

Havent you yet realised that so many football fans are solid bone from the neck up
-
You have come back Mack, have you been away somewhere or the peg factory doing overtime? Enjoy your trip to Wembley, and we wont mention your sneers at the Paintpot trophy you used to make. Oh and I saw the dive your lad made leading to your first goal, shameful bit of cheating.

I have looked through the posts and that a lot say we were poor , but what nobody seems to have taken into account was that the team were under extreme mental pressure. They have messed up so many times and this was the biggest must win since Swansea last season. You cant expect free flowing football with that on y0ur shoulders. I notice Mosin mentioned that JWP is on 45k a week and he is the 15th highest paid at the club, how could we be so stupid to pay those contracts. Sir Les and co , are they buffoons of the highest order or were there more sinister reasons? That is the reason we cant buy players in, why we had to let Gab and Cedric go on loan I suspect. The finances must be under a massive strain.
-
fair comment, but I dont count JWP or Matt Targett really as youngsters. Stephens was bought not a graduate
-
Agree with what you say. I have no problem having academy kids in the squad if they are good enough, but sadly it seems they are not. It is criminal how Les or whoever gave out those contracts. If players only want to join us if we pay well over the odds they aren't for us anyway. The long contracts will burden us for a few years and the few good buys we had, we wasted the proceeds on too many mid range players who are never going to put us up a level

The Championship IF we are doing well holds no fears for me either, proper football that reminds me more of the game when I was growing up. The vanity of being in the PL is only vanity, we had a few seasons where we looked pretty good and we rode the wave, sadly Sir Les influence still hangs over the club and we have a squad similar to when we went down before. Lots of middle range players who have straw hearts. It is not only annoying that Les kept his gravy train working here for so long, (a person in life who gets a good job and you dont know why. IMO he has the art of making himself look better than he is and ingratiates to the right people) Now he is at the FA, there goes our improvement. Leicester has a poisoned hanging room, they got rid of the manager who helped them win the title FFS. Chelsea the same. Puel is obviously not a great man manager, but we have tried that and where did that get us. Modern young footballers are just getting worse, and that is some of the reason I rarely go now. SFC is deep in my soul but that doesn't mean I worship every thing that goes with it.

Well if we are languishing in the Championship next season you will have time to dwell on finishing 7th and getting to a cup final. You can snipe, but at the end of the day, the manager was only given a season, and not able to buy players in.He has been sacked by Leicester (a squad who like Chelsea are poison) but they are not in the relegation places and have the start of a decent squad again. Now Rodgers is now there he will bring them on again Iam not unhappy with Ralph, and will support him, we already have fans starting to doubt him, it is ludicrous.
-
Looking at the fixtures now it seems to me that it is only us or Cardiff. Brighton will get enough from their games , Newcastle and Palace will walk safety.
-
who will buy a player like him on nearly 50k a week? Les and co gave him a ridiculous contract.
-
Yep lets get rid of another manager, gawd we have a lot of mad fans. We are where we are as we couldn't be happy with a top 10 finish. It looks pretty decent to me to where we are now.

Fair point Mack, to be fair you are punching above your weight as a club.
-
Fair point but it is Saints related,

The Irish have a unique corporation tax that is there to draw employment and business. It is an unfair advantage against all other EU countries. Their argument is that they only have a few million people and so cant do industry and so need this tax break to bring investment in. Once the EU dont allow that anymore the big companies will move again. Perhaps when we leave we will do the same. If only all this had been clear when the vote was made, but even if there is a 2nd referendum the damage is already done. It is death by a thousand cuts.

Just listened to the VVD interview on BBC podcast, apparently he came back in August and gave hos all for the club. That Henderson has the same agent as him,and was on the phone everyday saying he should join them. The conduit between them and to VVD it may seem.

3 nil and they Cox-Ed it up lol

Disgraceful, why should a Nante lose out. Pay up Cardiff, after all they are using the tragedy for their benefit
-
may as well replaced him with Will Young, he missed a couple of easy chances the other night

Being balanced here Ford moved the Transit from Southampton to Turkey when we were fully in the EU. Some of it is posturing to get money from the Government to keep them here, surely. I was told by someone at Fords 20-30years ago tht they didnt pay the NI as they threatened to leave if it was pushed to payit. It maybe bunkum but these big companies do know how to get financial payments.

Either we are getting so old that Gordon Banks mean little, but isn't it interesting that there are only 4 posts on here regarding his death but a footballer who never set foot on a pitch here has 7pages of posts.

Is there also a minutes applause at 28 minutes

Whilst i have been quite cold to the Sala incident , I feel sadness to someone who really did make an impact on my life. I still think his save against Pele in the 1970 world cu is the greastest save I have seen in my lifetime. I also recall seeing him concede a funny owngoal at the Dell when he was lobbed by his defender. A great man and seems to me a gentleman and role model. RIP

Be careful I was told off for saying something similar earlier in this thread
