So your understanding of science is to read what they are saying and take it chapter and verse. There are 2 parts to the thinking. Remember the Professors from Southampton University about 10-15 years ago where they unveiled years of work showing the world they had found how to produce energy from nothing. It was world news lol. They missed a basic theory in their calculations. I was told by another scientist about 40+ years ago that it was impossible to find more elements, that has been proved bunkum, the expensive space project that sent a probe to (?) mars and it ran out of fuel as they had calculated in litres when another had calculated in gallons. Dont believe all you read, take into account self interest, the amount of jobs that climate change has provided in the media and elsewhere, and its big business worth billions of dollars. That even on Attenboroughs programme about the seas that 70% of carbon dioxide comes from the seabed, that we are living in the times of social media where hysterical reactions are whipped up, by 24 hour news programmes that need something for the masses to watch. Yes there is a change in the worlds weather, well so it seems but in 1963 (56 years ago and we have not had anything like it since) it snowed for months on end with no sign of it ending, can you imagine Greta and in that situation she'd be putting on her gasmask and marching with her hoards telling us we are doomed. I want things to change but not at the panic rate that is being demanded by those self righteous people. We are due a very cold winter and the timing is about right for the protestors to say 'we told you so'

60 in November, depressing but the alternative is worse. I would never think of smacking my grandchildren and would protect them to the end. I can understand why smacking is now frowned upon, although a light tap to show what is right or wrong may do some good. I must say I would love to do a running kick to these people glueing themselves to roads buildings etc. It may be best to leave them glued and with a bit of luck they will get hypothermia overnight lol

No, because most homes have 2 cars or more, that the young generation think that if they have a birthday, squeeze a spot or have a stag do they must go to Magaluf/ Budapest / Barcelona perhaps both, hence travel fuel usage has grown. The tax was always low on airfuel
-
well others think you may be wrong, but I see it that way as well.
-
But carbon zero in 11 years!!!
-
just because they didnt vote doesn't mean they wanted in or out. Why not wait to do the referendum in 10years time as another 2or 3 million will be gone? The problem is how can you appease the 17.4m people who voted leave and then betray their wishes. It is a problem we can fix IMO
-
yep if you totally believe in the science. At the same time not costing your economy and normal people great inconvenience, depriving people who have worked hard and want to break to Europe or hardship for businesses that a lot are really suffering at present.
-
yep, but that was nearly 50 years ago, show the younger generation what they are asking for, it seems easy to some but they dont understand. As I say it is fine if done over a long period but it cant be done in 11 years.

Yes, I agree but the 'must do it now' is a nonsense and the whole thing puts peoples backs up to make them detest these people. Yes lets start with bottled water, takeaway plastic containers, burger polystyrene packets and plastic wrapping. Perhaps we should give the nation a dose of electricity being rationed for halfa day and show us how difficult it will be to live the way these people areasking

wow, were the topman at the debating society? Of course only the Guardian reports anything honestly. That the internet does not have other peoples/scientists views.
-
I doubt you have many who will argue against that, but you cant do it so quickly. You of course used the word 'eventually' these people want it done now.

All that face paint and the palm oil used for it. 'Chop down some more trees we have an environmentalist who needs lipstick'
-
but that is the crux of the matter. everybody in the main has their own work/life commitments. Hence you have 2 cars. Having a good train service would help but again to get to the 11 year thing most transport is off the cards. Transport is major part of our lives whether for leisure or business, all those container lorries going up and down the country, how are we going to get rid of that, where are their jobs?? It is a mammoth task that can only be done in time as technology allows. Im not sure what exactly the government can do, who in their right minds will ban fossil fuels although I expect Labour may say something to be a vote winner for the unthinking

Lol, I assume the next thing will be that the clothes industry will only be allowed to produce all the same coloured suits for us all to wear. The lunatics are really going to take over the asylum

What car do you drive. Before I go to that nice shiny place in hell I think you are a 2 car family. What are those? Afterall being the saviour of the planet and all that, you most surely now have cut your cars down to just the one and that being low powered hybrid engine
-
and you have now???

The protestors are not helping as they are annoying people not educating them. I dont care what they are telling me as it is impractical and impossible to do in 11 years. I read sometime ago that the increase in heat was not as much as the computers had predicted, the information was incorrect. I do not have a closed mind to it, and as I say I have made changes in my own life to help. There are people who have a different opinion in the scientific field and are shouted down, sometimes with fact other times with predictions. We should all be aware that there are forcesout there who are using social media to create fear and panic for different motives. The money that can be made from this is eyewatering.

I have read about the science, but I have an open mind and read the counter as well. It is not 100% agreed and there is much self interest going on. I recall the images of the polar bear staving to death, and the one on an ice flow. People were up in arms. It turned out the polar bear was seriously ill and the other was a case of normal life of polar bears where they move around swimming from ice flow to ice flow.

That is fair, but until we change our need for strawberries in the winter etc Nolan is providing a service that the people desire. To me the biggest thing we could do is reduce the use of plastics, not only for the enviroment but of course the energy etc used for something this is not always required. It is essential in many areas but I feel the packaging industry is going to be difficult place to be in the near period.

Does it matter what industry people are in? Why not tell us what your line you are in. It wont be customer services, that's for certain lol Only teasing
-
Im not a brexiteer thankyou. You are a fine one talking about your brand new car and what shall you choose, a gas guzzling BMW at one time, then you played with having an electric one as long as the tax breaks were good lol, HYPOCRITTTTTTT

Iam sceptical that it is ALL man made, I cant get round my head that we had the medieval warming period, the little ice age and the Romans growing vines in the South, all before we have been driving around in cars. The climate business is a trillion pound industry with thousands of jobs tied to it. I dont travel abroad/fly more than once a year and am very careful how I use energy. My business is basically recycling and a very green product. Iam in business and can see what the climate change people are asking is impossible to apply, unless we change our lives beyond what we know now. It will mean massive upheaval the loss of many jobs and hardship. Yu and I will have to forgo much of what we know and the economy will grind to a halt. Fine if you like anarchy but for the main person inthe street it will be terrible. I have grandchildren and dont want them to have and so make constant tweaks to my lifestyle but what the protestors are doing is a nonsense
-
Yep its just the companies who rely on fossil fuels. Tell me how many times in the last year have you flown, or travelled more than 25 miles by car, or watched motor sport, driven instead of walked, left the lights and any other power in your home on when not needed to, bought clothes, furniture, white goods, food originating from countries far away from the UK. The companies need the fuel to make the items that we use in our homes, they dont use it just for the sake of it.

I dont count right wingers as racists, those are extreme right wingers. Also the far left are racist as well. Uncle Joe being a fine example
