  1. If we flop back into the EU, how will the rest of the world judge us. A trading nation that cant keep its word will be a humiliation, forget the economics of this but we will be harmed in so many ways. Once back we will be treated with disrespect imo
  2. Id have got 6m electric gate and a gateman lol. Only teasing UJ
  3. Probably more like me Jeff, but I will say you couldn't even negotiate people to stop parking in front of your gate and so perhaps you are on soft ground there.
  4. I am sympathetic to the deal but it is bad as we will still be under the jurisdiction of the Eu as the deal supersedes anything our law. The backstop if I understand correctly will stay in place until the EU decide to drop it. In that time we have to abide by any regulation/law that the EU puts in place even if it is against our national interests. In theory they could make always saying we can only fish cod to a certain size but everyone else bigger, far fetched but Im sure you get the drift of it. We wont have any say at all as we have left nd our veto lost. Revoke Article 50 and flop back in or leave without a deal that really is the option. Half baked deals will leave us very unhappy and we will have no advantages. I always respect your posts as you are well gemmed up on the subject and I only skim over it, but I do believe Iam more experienced in negotiating (sometimes you get it wrong of course) but giving away a bargaining chip as much as the EU pretend it does not matter is not clever.
  5. That is not necessarily the point. Both sides will be hurt and whilst near term it will hurt us more, a terrible deal will hurt us much more as it is forever. The 39b may also be reduced. I dont advocate leaving without a deal but if we have to we must. The deal as it stands gives us nothing. I voted to remain but also understand that in democracy the result has to be upheld.
  6. It may be a vacuous gesture but so why the big talk about it? The deal the EU have given us is terrible, notice how they are all united, its because they know they are having their gateau and eating it. They realise that by not budging many are losing their nerve over here and we are divided.
  7. I suspect Shurlock has never had to negotiate anything meaningful if he believes that not having the no deal is a bargaining chip. No deal is also a disaster for the EU and they really dont want the thought that the 39 billion they would be getting with a deal is potentially off the table. Ireland is totally stuffed if we have no deal, and the fishing industries for Spain and France are in peril. Macron veiled threat re our food supplies (he didnt mention medicines) did not take into account the massive damage that will do to France Spain Belgium, Poland and Holland. Whether the disaster is worse for the UK is greater is obviously an issue, but the deal at all costs could be greater. Remember the deal we sign up to is forever, not short term, we all have to live with it for the rest of our lives and so taking anything off the table for free is not in our interests. As for the flights, I think much of Europes flights rely on our air control so that also could be brought in a tit for tat scenario. If we do 'crash out' we can say that we will not put borders up to stop the flow and it would be up to the EU to enforce it their side, would their businesses be pushing them to let that happen. Yes there will be a lot of uncertainty but watching Wedgewood Benn and his take on the Euwas enlightening, I have never rated his opinions much but his words did ring true
  8. Can I point out that you were telling us that JWP was better than Redmond and that JWP should be playing in front of him. Now you have moved to Lemina, I suggest in a few weeks it will be in front of Foster. I want JWP to flourish but it is slow in coming. Against Derby he drove through the centre and was going in on goal but lost his nerve and passed to Long who had drawn the defenders away. He rally does need to take his chances and become 1st on the team sheet for his position. Take a leaf out of Redmonds book, I have always seen Redmonds ability but many did not, he has now in the main proved those doubters wrong and so there is not Reason JWP can do the same if he starts being a positive player instead of a very safe dull footballer
  9. If they go up I doubt they will have all those loans and so they will have a pretty poor squad. The loan players are better than Championship quality, so having them makes Frank look better tan he is .The centre back from Chelsea was superb.
  10. Its so depressing when someone really in the know has such an opinion
  11. trouble is that YouTube could make Mo look good!!! Not really the place to see. To be fair if Ralph rates a player I have more faith than Les's opinion
  12. "I can tell you very solemnly that in the framework of this future relationship, the interests of French fishing will be defended and we will have to negotiate a transition period with them anyway because the British can't afford not to have a plane taking off or landing in their country and 70% of their supermarket supplies comes from continental Europe." Macron. So our friends in Europe are threatening to starve us and not let planes fly, Nice
  13. Thought for a young lad he did ok. Slattery looked pretty good to me, Id never see him before.Looks as though he has something about hm
  14. All the cards were always in the EU's hands. You only had to read the terms of the treaty of Rome about leaving. A complete stitch up. They are united knowing they have us. If they dont cave in they know that a 2nd referendum will be most likely and they we will stay in. The gravy train will be opened again. The damage to our nation will not be healed and we are worse off than we were 2 1/2years ago. If the 2nd ref does come and we vote to stay in, then we must make sure we are still at the top table. Im not sure if it was in the British press but Latvia had told their people that if we go out without a deal a lot of their benefits will be cut as they will not be getting so much money from the EU.
  15. Really!!! So if a non league club go through the rounds their players have played more and so will have more cards potentially. Theirs should be wiped then?
  16. He was poor last night. He really is lacking in confidence and a goal may kift him, but the club did waste money on him
  17. As for goalkeepeing coach, it was interesting to see that the Derby coach was going through where we took pens in the past on his ipad, wheras I assume was dishing out bottles of drink and Gunn was left to his own devices. The Derby keeper kept going the wrong way and so perhaps the info was rubbish anyway
  18. My take is that both goals came from Cedrics side. McCarthy is our no1 keeper Stupid free kick given for their first goal Having only a 2 man wall when we know the loanee always shoots was a mistake. When we are in the lead our defensive midfielders cannot keep the opposition at bay. That the pundits know sfa, if a player is offside he's offside no matter how close, similar to goal line technology the ball is either over or not. May as well say 'well it nearly crossed the line and so its a goal' Of course the media love Frank and so they want him to win. Overall we had a very weakened team, something that was not really pointed out. Wheras they had a full team out, if they go up what are they going to do to get a team together!!!!! All their stars are from other clubs. Disappointed in losing as we had a 2 goal lead, but as always we just seem to let the other side in with a soft goal. I think appoint against Everton is the best we can hope for
  19. why breach trust of people I know or knew at the time.
  20. well Im sure we will be able to live with your thoughts on him diminishing a little. Having a full back who is knee high to a grasshopper and unable to put in a decent cross is nota loss. Use the money on someone more suited to what Ralph wants
  21. I know some stories about him, Id like to say they were good
  22. yep the list of spurious ones that some kind of pretend to leak out out as ITK lol
  23. Totally agree.Idont think fans on here are really a fair cross section. There are few I would back to judge a decent player, and when the howls go up of disloyalty when a player leaves they fail to give credit to ones who show a little bit of loyalty. It was interesting to Long on interview after Saturdays game where he said that it was nice to be appreciated by his teammates and Ralph. (words to that effect) but failed to mention the fans.Yes he is supposed to score goals but any defender would hate to play against him as he doesn't give any peace. I do expect him to start scoring a few more now, under the new regime.
  24. Interesting. Listening to the podcast that was not apparent but he wouldn't be drawn on it. He did admit to going to Pompey with his mates and so perhaps that made him more keen to support them. He did say his wife is a big saints fan and he still goes to SMS a lot
