VVD will not be match fit to play for a month. We cant risk playing him until he has had some match time, at the same time if he is not fully match fit his injury could play up. Imagine if we played him not fully match fit and he gets injured
-
Jamie Redknapp says on Sky that VVD wants to go and so we shouldn't stand in his way, doesn't his misses want to do the same? Let her go Jamie

its Chewbacca without the hair

I'm n longer a S/T holder but the games I went to I was well entertained. Some of the football was as good Ive seen for 20years. The home game in the EFL cup was fantastic, WHU away again there were periods of sublime stuff, add to that the Everton game at home. Games always seem better if you score and that was the problem, we sold our main goalscorrs from the previous season and didn't replace until late in the season. I don't hold to the fact that Austin came as Pelles replacement as we were short up front when he arrived anyway.
-
It is not retrospective as far as I'm concerned, it was shameful the way he was sacked.I would be delighted with us underperforming Puel wise. 8th and a Cup final would be fine by me again. Come back and give me a told you so post in 6 months and I will be delighted to say I was wrong and it was right to get rid of a pretty successful manager considering the squad he was given. Of course he was rubbish at interviews which seems very important it seems
-
I agree what you say, none of us know what we really get but in principle if we had bought pre the VVD saga the asking prices to us would be lower. I don't see how the club needs to sell before buying. I was making the point had we bought earlier that clubs would not see us cashed up and so ask a lot more than they would have done 6 weeks ago
-
I suggest most businesses that are not export driven, are noticing the lack of footfall. A friend in estate agency told me that they are down 65%
-
So if we sell £70m for VVD , we then go out to replace and any player that would have cost £15M will now be £25-30 to us. So instead of doing the business before selling we lose what we gain.

Pompey shirt surely???

I'm not Reeds greatest fan at all but he is given his remit and has followed it best he can. Buy cheap sell dear is the Southampton Way. That's all very well if you judge it right. The black box spews out names ,its whether the people who look at the info can work out the best.If we gave the info to 20 of the judges on here I wonder who would you want to analyse it ?
-
I was going to post something similar but it would only go to his head, and his little brain can only take so much info at once
-
oh dear Mack are you now nearly 14, that's the life expectancy down there isn't it? Cholera and Ricketts are names they have on the back of their shirts, not players names but prognosis
-
Lol another injury prone forward, lets get Sturridge as well
-
of course he was sacked a large part due to the fans. Watch the EFL cup final again and see how good our team played. The difference was that we had a goalscorer who knew how to put the ball in the net. That changed everyones perception of the team. We created loads of chances but didn't have anybody to finish. A dull 0-0 draw becomes a good game if the ball goes into the net. The board not buying someone last summer to score was patently obvious to most on here. The same is happening this summer and the chicken is running back to roost.
-
I suggest that fans at present would snatch peoples arm off for a top 12 finish
-
Puel did wonders with the squad. After watching a re run of the EFL cup final where we were superb. The difference a goal scorer made to us. We have a change of manager who has to try and do as well as the last man, not a hope in my opinion. The spine of our team is poor and sadly it is going to be a tough season. Unil we find some midfielders who can add goals to the tem to take the pressure off the forwards we are in the mire

All the replies to me are fair, but we are known as a selling club that allow players to prove themselves in the PL. If you all are saying no we are not a stepping stone club, then why are we fretting we VVD? the club have no reason to buckle and can wait for the window to close just like Liverpool will re Coutinho or the Italian cub with Kietha(spl?)
-
The clubs mantra is to get players to sign for us using the stepping stone scenario. If we then are seen to stop these players to do so some players may not join us because of this. Should we have really believed that no player was going to be sold, as this breaks with our business model? The 6year extension of contract thing is to the advantage of both parties, as it gives a player more wages but gives the club a stronger hand in getting a better price. The big thing about selling VVD is that the fans are tired of us bending over to Liverpool again and perhas are misjudging the strength of the fans resentment to Liverpool and then in turn could turn on the board
-
I will add that if there is no interest from any club and no offers are in why he is he causing this fuss. He must have some kind of contact with a 3rd party or he would not be downing tools.

Nothing publicly
-
I was listening to the Monday football cluband they mentioned Coutinho to Barca, and said how Klopp said no is no. Theythen said that VVD to Liverpool but didn't see the hypocrisy of their stand that Liverpool were right to stop him as it derailed their season, but never gave it a thought re us
-
The club should never have said that no player will be going when they did, as it is patently obvious that they will sell by blackmail. We are now in a Catch 22 situation.
-
I still don't get why we cant do that without selling
-
no doubt they did, as they were never around when a labour party like the one now was in power. A generation that gets excited watching Love Island , Big Brother and the Kardashians shouldn't be allowed to vote, lol I find it amusing that so many think the Yanks are thick and then fail to look at our own society.
