Recently on Bbc south or Meridian they did a piece on the Portsmouth/Pompey pals battalion and so I suspect there was one. I am not going to deride the Pompey lads who gave their lives just because they came from. Pompey, brave people. I think it was pointed out on the other site that many of the Southampton people were on the merchant ships, now that was a lot braver than being stationed at Haslar or on many of the warships that were well protected.

Twitter etc are just becoming 1 great big advertising platforms. The mugs just lap it up. I have a twitter account just as it supposedly helps lift your Google rankings.all it seems to have on it are posts of people with links to items they have just put into stock. -
Got a Jaguar XF sport, superb, all the others mentioned on here are either taxis or fleet cars lol

i will bite Dalek. yes there were some real pearlers 7-1 away to Spurs 4-3 against Tranmere after being 3 up. The way he walked on us as we were preparing to go to our new stadium, when we needed stability. He gave us the end of one season and part of the following one, therefore it is hard to really quantify how good he really was. i do recall he left just beofre a really difficult run of games. Anyway i am very glad he did what he did as we may not have had the years that followed and not the Liebherrs

"It has come from right across the spectrum of our community, not just those in decent jobs but from schoolchildren, students, the unemployed, pensioners. " Im confused, is that quote regarding the Trust or all the poor souls who have been owed money in the past

the trouble is there are so many keys to be given out to the heroes of the saga the councils locksmiths can't keep up.

funnily enough I think Chinny would have been a better bet for them as he would need them to climb the leagues to get a proper payday.

How he paints over how he left MLT out is incredible. If he believed what he said there Matt should have at least 50caps. Hypocrite and sadly there are still people who think he should manage.

Bearsy has come out of puberty now and can talk to adults, Tokes still is a wannabe teenager and is envious. Phil is a wannabe middle aged bloke but can't get over being an OAP, although he is still able go down with the youngsters (oooer misses)

That is the most novel idea yet. Pompey pay some debt, and add to that someone else's !! Mack you normally put an un-usual almost fantastical ideas but. Pompey actually coughing up lol. If. Pompey coughed up Phlegm they'd expect someone else to swallow it

I would always wish for pace in the team, but they have to have a brain and skill. Puncheon was decent in the Championship, but he is not a team player IMO

Just as the nonsense after NCwas sacked we had nearly the same regarding puncheons loan. He did not fit in with MP's plans and so surplus to requirements. I don't think he is even in Palaces first 11

Global warming really is happening... (well, duh!)
OldNick replied to 1976_Child's topic in The Lounge
watching the BBC last night summed it up for me.There we are talking about global warming effecting the weather and there were at least 5 crews flown straight in. The final sentence of the report said 'and scientists say that we may have more regular storms like this' MAY ffs ,nothing like sitting on the fence and not being categorical. -
A very thought provoking article by a war veteran

of course it would be oh so different if we had revolution. The top party members would live in the social houses and run around on a pushbike I assume, we would all take it in turns to live in the stately homes. Steak meals for everyone each night and there would be nobody needed to do the menial jobs, and everyone would be equally paid and there would be no division.Lol Politics of envy have never changed and never will do. Get the revolution and the majority would be no better off, just a cosy life for the agitators and loudmouths who would gain, and they would be the ones dishing out the orders, never really worrying about the ordinary person. We in the main are very fortunate, and yes there is some awful corruption etc going on, but I dont think a change of our society and pecking order would help us at all -
You really missed out if you were not into football when you were 13. Football was my love for as long as I remember. It was the only thing that the teachers could use as a weapon as a punishment. 'No football for you, detention'

I was thinking earlier how the club now have a strong mental belief and the last few years have given them a winning mentality. Somehow the fan base (especially the fans who have been going decades) need to find a confidence in the team.I remember in the 80s where I'd go to a match expecting to win, slowly that feeling is returning. It will take a lot more than flirting with the top 4 for a few weeks for me to get into the airy fairy we are unbeatable like the CB Frys of the world

Funnily enough there were nut cases who thought we could make the. CL as well. It must be great in your world where everything is so sure, nothing can be ruled out mathematically at this time. Yes the probability is that we will not be relegated, but also probable we won't make the CL but let people have their beliefs or opinions

When was that? It must have been the early 80s. If you were getting 6 quid a week paper money ,you must have been delivering to Sandbanks and Kensington lol
