Man u pulled out of the FA cup, Arsenal/Man u/Chelsea have a history of playing weakened teams in the League cup etc etc We are not world beaters and do not have the luxury of not needing to go up. I agree that winning breeds winning but at the same time I believe that the cups became a distraction this season and the FA and League cup (trophies we could not win) it would have been better if we had gone out early. Then we may have gone on our league run a tad sooner and the players would have been a tad fresher.

I haven't seen the vat reduction for the wealthy. I thought everyone paid 17.5% vat. VAT is a fair tax as if you spend you pay a tax. What it might be is that low earners have a bigger proportion who smoke aqnd drink heavily and so that is where they pay more in vat of their disposable wealth. I dislike vat like anyone else but tax has to be raised. The only policy I like of the libs is the no tax on earnings under 10k a year. I wish we could chose certain ideas and vote on those but is of course impossible.A type of mix and match.

So AP has applied the pressure but also heightened the fans hopes. If we are not in the top 4 after 5 or 6 games the fans will turn from their supportive selves to frustrated and turning on the side. It will be the first season in the CCC all over agin. We were well capable of making a charge that first season and wedre there or there abouts but the fans desperation for us to be in the promotion places added intense pressure. We need to remember this season where Leeds looked odds on favourites, but form expectation and nerves got to them. We must keep our nerves and even if we are only top 6 with 10 cgames to go realise that a good end of season run is far more important than a fantastic start. I hope we cruise to the title but I doubt we will unless we get a couple more quality players, to put us ehad and shoulders above the rest. Look at his recrd since he took over last season. It is unbelievably good. Add to that the size of his squad and the embargo. They aslohad Charlie Austin to be signed but due to the embargo couldnt and so he went to Swindon. Howe is a top manager and if he keeps it up will be a top division one at another club of course.

The answer to the origianal question is that we lost any future transfer payments when we had to go cap in hand to get the transfers paid up early. It is sickening but that was the consequence of getting into serious debt. the same will go dfor any player we have sold uin the past I suspect.
