Why didn't Crouch save us from administration?
OldNick replied to Nineteen Canteen's topic in The Saints
well he was right about getting rid of Jan. RL made mistakes in his time but that was a massive one, especially as I believe that Wotte has made a big difference. I doubt he would have asked them to sell share as I doubt he cared about that, and would there be buyers? -

You may be right but from my position if i was the bank and had seen the club at the start of the season 6.3 overdrawn getting that down to £5m. Then cutting it again , and the club meeting that in the short time required. That was in a time when the world finances were in a mess, unemployment going up and people contacting them telling them they were not going because they didnt like the chairman. To me if a business was doing still slashing costs with all that going on would keep them supporting us little longer. It should not have been a problem, the bank knew RL's popularity when he came back and did not pull the plug, why wait until they did? The timing is really odd and i sense something pushed them to act. What i dont know, but do you not find the whole timing and bouncing cheques so the club could not make quick contingency plans alittle strange? -
I doubt he's giving it. Bristol is a very large city and the capibility of filling a large stadium. Good business i suspect

Lol, very true

The banners about Saints being loved have been put up by Saints trust.I do not know if they have been paid for.I do like coming into the city and seeing them. You say on one hand RL was trying to freeze out players so they leave and complain he didnt sell!! the people we needed gone to get our costs down were teh high wage earners not t4rainees or the younger players on low contracts who if they had been sold would have given fans reason not to go.It was a Catch 22 situation.I just worry there was some dirty business going on and that sped up our demise. -
Whats the betting we get the worst refs and decisions that go with it leading to the end of the season.I get the impression that the sentiment in neutrals eyes is that we should be decked -10. The refs may think that way as well, we will be on a hiding to nothing if they are biased against us and 50/50 decisions may go against us.I hope Im wrong but it would be convienient for the league if we go down.

If he keeps us up it would be be just as ludicrous as getting rid of NP as it would be him.

Why didn't Gavyn Davies save us from administration?
OldNick replied to benjii's topic in The Saints
I think fans can question GD as he never quelled the rumours that he wanted to take us over in the past.It was convienient to look like a benefactor scorned and a lot cheaper to be so as well. You can be the best buyer in the world if the item is sold and another like it is not on offer. ' I would have bought that if it wasn't sold' -
Well Im glad you are hearing about some significant bids because the few people I know are saying nothing and give the impression that nothing is going on in a big way. NDA's obviously have been signed but it is unusually quiet regarding rumours at the club.Even DM is not saying much although Armstrongs campaigning on Radio Hants with him with Merrington as a managing partnership makes me wonder if they have been given the green light if a certain party takes over. the 'I would have saved us' speech by Armstrong on the radio just rang of trying to whip fans up in support, or readying the ground.

If that statement was from at the time of the club going into administration itshows what nonsense they spout. Increse attendances , sell players and get investment Lol. it's so easy isnt it. Why didnt the club build a 50k stadium if it is so easy to fill the grounds. God banks really dont know the real world. When did the bank reduce our overdraft back another £1m? As far as I can see we had brought the overdraft down to the new level of £4m and would have thought they would have been pleased with that nd so seen we were doing it correctly. To then start bouncing cheques after the club had reduced its borrowings by 2.3m is harsh and underhand IMO. i dont think I will blame the club for not selling players in that situation. In fact if the club had wished to quickly raise an extra few hundred thousand they could have done a March madness. They obviously had been under the impression that things were ok and they still being supported.I wonder who or what put the spanner in the works? -
Why are pro-Lowers MORE vociferous now??
OldNick replied to Legod Third Coming's topic in The Saints
I dont see unity on the fanbase.I suggest you wait to see what happens after administration. The triumphant Wilde bunchers were giving it the big one last time. Wilde tee shirts etc Looooooooooooool I hope we get somebody all sides can unite behind, but lets hope we still have a club -

In LC's tenure (only a short period) and he had 3 managers. Lol. Wilde and his bunch has been a massive impact on our fortunes. RL has been put in power by Askham and Wilde, they are the people who are as much been part of our misfortune. I dont know why we are carrying on with all this sham,we sdhould be more worried what administration may do to us..positive or negative? Unless we get a proper investor we will be in this position for evermore.Having people who need to buy for a knockdown price or they cant buy us cannot be the people to take us to the good times again.Beggars cant be choosers though. -
If we havent by June there is no club ..period. Do you not understand the gravity of the situation we are in.Do you really believe that SFC is so important to people not connected with it they care a damn. You may believe we are the best thing since sliced bread but people who will be putting their hard earned cash in wil want to make sure it is a bargain that will not ruin them. The club was losing 40k a week (some say more ). There are not that many people out there who after seeing how much problem it caused RL to cut costs and still have big losses, will then take the risk. Yes the stadium repayments may be gone but whoever then owns it will want a decent rent, any players of value may be sold if we dont find a buyer very quickly, the administrators fees are rising by the minute and all those people who have shown an interest whether they be contributors to Pompey on line or whereever are costing the club money as fees are raked up as they are sorted to see if they are real or fantasists. We havent got til July as far as i can see, we have got about a month or 5 weeks. You may think its fun but to me it is a rolercoaster i dont wish to be on. We now have no choice who takes the club on, none of the custodians have a say and so whether it be Pol Pot or mary poppins we have to wait and hope.

thanks for enlightening me

The lounge and muppet show seem to be in the same decline as our club. No posters , and little interest. We need some good old fashioned arguements and MB to start postings some of his more interesting girlfriends in underwear again

to be faqir much of it is correct. Im sick of them all and Askham yet again is not talked about but just the same old 3. He must be more Teflon coated than Blair and Clinton combined -
and if we had, the automatic -10 would have come into play. The accounts would have then been shown that we had funds and fans like myself and others would have said why did we go into admin when the club was still solvent. The bank reduced the overdraft (basically moving the goalposts)whe nwe had done what had been asked to do by them. It does not seem right and proper IMO

My favourite was a collegue when he was offered a low price for an item looked the lady up and down and said 'These are not the proceeds of a burlary madam.' and promptly snatched the item back and pushed them out of his shop -

Why should LC save the club anymore than me or anybody else. There was a board and many hangers on who have had plenty out of the club. They would have known the situation and as a WHOLE should have taken the measures. It is easy pushing forward the most generous person forward to foot the bill. LC I have criticised on occasions but I do not see why he should be held accountable any more than the others who have so let us down for decades. I and many others have trudged to games for 40 years , never getting as much as a complimentary cup of bovril and looked down upon from the centre of the stands as just a cash cow. A fool who had become so ingrained in loving the club and in turn treated like a mug. Yes i know I volunteered for it ,I was not forced into supporting Saints, or forced into having near fights with people who dared to question SFC's name, having heated conversations about MLT being lazy, or how our former manager had been 2nd in command and overseen one of the generations greatest players being overlooked and Carlton Palter or Geoff Thomas player in his place. LC should not have lost another £2m for his love of the club and it is wrong now genuine well meaning people are being encouraged to put their hard earned money into it now. If he was wanting to buy the club and had overseen us going into administration so he could buy it as a snip is another matter of course. -
Thats football for you Id be the other way around.Fuller and Jones are good footballers and would be a good partnership up front and I was sad they both went.Fuller was never given a chance to feel welcome here and now he has shown in the PL that he is a good forward. Dyer will turn out to be another good player and we will fret one day why we didnt keep him

Where Will the Creditors Get Their Money From?
OldNick replied to Guided Missile's topic in The Saints
If there are more than offers will the administrator be able to contact the lower bidder and ask them to raise theirs (to get an auction going)or will he just say 'you had your chance and so it's sold' -
Was Wellington in administration? What was his quote Derry?
