Wes: The new boss says that he is really keen for me to play Right Back for the rest of the season Lamina: Yes he told us the same thing. He said FOR THE REST OF THE SEASON WES IS GOING TO BE RIGHT BACK IN THE DRESSING ROOM

Sorry to pick on you Jeff, this is for those as well with a similar mind. 1) We didn't get relegated. So he must have done something 2) His job was to save us from relegation. We were saved from it. 3) You can't judge his tenure this season with what he did last. I'm sorry but if you employ someone to finish putting up a fence before the winds come, and it stands, they have done their job If you then employ them to put up another fence somewhere else, and it blows down, you cant say they didn't finish and save the first fence.

The thing is, and I suppose I have been in a similar sort of position except building stuff not kicking a ball around, is that you know before hand where you are going and what you are inheriting in theory so will have a short term plan to turn things around quickly, get some confidence back, and start to see some quick results and minor changes for the better, before you can make some bigger, permanent changes. I think he already has an idea on how Cardiff play, how to thwart them, and who to use in the team, and who to have on the bench. Hi target would be to stop them playing. Any goals would be a bonus at this short stage. But I am sure that Kelvin et al already have an idea on what he wanted them to aim for. Plus, I also think that he'll take aside those that lack confidence and give them some hope. He would be a fool not to. The above I have tried in the past taking over failing and dodgy sites. It has worked more often than not.

Yes, just like someone on here who used to predict 17th each year, until we got there.

I think dislike is a strong word. Better than hate to be fair. I don't really dislike any of them. Some of them I am disappoinbted with but depends on the game, their performance, and the mistakes they make and any antics on/off the field.

You really don't like him, do you?

Paul Mitchell set for Saints return...
Secret Site Agent replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
You got him there -
I am all for it. I would disagree with the above. Anyone but Captain talking to the ref is first warned, then yellow card Waving of imaginary cards by the team infringed, the free kick, if awarded, moved back 10 metres The demonstrations of the infringing team, except the captain, around the referee, the free kick is moved forwards 10 m, until it is on the 'D', then becomes an automatic penalty. 3 challenges per team per half, for any incident that has stopped play. An automatic review of all penalty decisions On Field Ref has final say Review ref team to also have 1 representative of each team, in an observational and guiding role only, in the box with them Managers to have access to screens to review incidents Put it on the big screen as well. Bring it on please

I saw Saints on the common playing football with a hedgehog. I shouted out to Hughes, 'Oi, you better stop that!' 'Why?' said Sparky 'Because the hedgehog is winning 3-0'

I'm saying the two fellers who represent Gao will have some input

I think this is a terrible thing and don't agree with it at all I think we should have a petition and mark on the club to get him re-instated Maybe we should also have a sit in at Saint Mary's. I mean, with Les gone, what will Heisenberg do if he can't shoe-horn Les into every conversation and post, he'll disappear from the board, and I quite like him and his statements. Bye, bye Les. Thanks for what you did, sorry it didn't work out in the end. Onwards and upwards.

No they wanted him to try and suceed with a budget and framework find the right person for the job. Not being funny, but do you know how hard it is to deliberatly make mistakes that cost not only your boss money, but also damage your reputation? No, he takes guidance from above and tries to do what he can with the hand he is dealt. There is no question he and the upper eschalons have made mistakes in signings, but that is the business world. If there business target is to not go bust, he has done this If the business target is to be self sustainable he has done this. If the business target is to be top 10, then he failed last year If the business target is to win the champions league, then he has failed miserably and should be sacked But he can only be measured on the target he is given. Don't get me wrong, I think he has caused us many issues and the recruitment lately has been poor. I don't know why, with what we have, they fail to score, which seems to be our issue at the moment. But Les and Ralph don't kick a ball for a living, they stop us from going bust and try and make a few quid as well, keep the brand up and make sure the club has a good reputation in the wider world. The other thing is this: In business, results are measured over time unless somethign drastic happens. If you remember the 5 year plan, that was it for the next 5 years, with the target peing back in the prem at year 5. Not promotion from League 1 to Prem in year 1, Year 2 win Premiership......etc. These things take time. What Goa plan is, we don't know, but he must have a plan. Here's a challenge, if you want Les out, list 10 good things he has done for the club If you want Hughes out, List 10 good things he has done for the club If your first reaction is, THEY AINT DONE NOTHING, they you lose the right to criticise as you don't have an open mind and are just moaning for moaning sake, because it's easy, you have an agenda, or you are led by the peer group. Anyone can sit on the sidelines and snipe. It's so easy to destroy and so difficult to create. Right, rant over, I need a coffee.

The MLS is like the Last of the Summer Wine of football You look through the list and see all the greats you knew years ago, and itr answers the question of 'Didn't he used to play for.' A nice bit of nostagia. They go here after West Ham have turned them down for being too old. I note that BWP is on juuuuuusssttt a little more than Ibrahinovich. Perhaps there are a few that could do a ...........sorry, can't say it with a straight face.

I bet he's on a bigger wedge than he ever had in this country though

Ahhh, Godwins Law strikes again and we are only at post #27

The trouble is we are not comparing apples with apples. WE can tout anyone we want, for any price, and don't have to include any add ons at all, or consider wages. Signing players in the real world isn't jst about money, it includes many things like if the player wants to join us, who is already here, what his future plans are, the manger, the part of the country we are in, family pressures. Don't forget, we have nothing to loose going on about who we want, the club this is their livelihood.

Wolves 2 Saints 0 - Match & Meltdown Thread

******. Didn't even that. Not fair -
With these two allogation against Everton shouldn't we launch one as well regarding Koeman.......and chuck one Liverpools way for VVD?
-
Same here. Hopefully with an unchanged team and no forced substitutions we can push on and win this. Like our intensity at he moment and hope Hughes has found his team and formations now.

So, which one of you wrote this? I didn't find it balanced at all, just another rant that could be made up from the posts on here. The point of Southampton Football Club is that it is a business in the entertainment industry. It's job is to provide a profit to it's shareholders. It's business is to generate an income from it's product which is playing football. At the moment the product they are producing is slightly lacking but with an upheaval over the last few years, we will only know after a few more games if the latest changes are any good for the long term product. However, I will throw something into the mix here. How may of us were afraid we would be relegated and were relieved with us finally staying up? Isn't this roller coaster of emotions what we pay for, and support saints for? On a scale of 1-10 who had the greatest emotional uplift, the Saints Fan who found we were saved from relegation or the Man City fan when they won the league by a country mile? The entertainments industry is build on emotional content. People don't watch an action film just to see the hero win in the first half hour, and then spend an hour high fiving all around. People pay and choose to be scared, frightened, feel terrible, feel joy and to laugh their socks off, and watch films where the hero doesn't even win at all.. We enjoy the highs and lows of the season, even if it ****es us off no end. But we also have to be realistic. A great manager at one team can be **** at another. A striker who scores for fun in one league can, as we know to our cost, fail to score in another. The club can only wee-wee with the phallus it has got. There are managers and players that will not come to us, and that we have no chance of signing, there are some that se us as a stepping stone, some that see us as a last chance saloon. And please, don't forget that there are some, and I like to put Danny Ings in this, that will play their socks off for a team that is close to their heart. So what is the point of Southampton FC? It gets us talking and sharing opinions on here for a start.
