  1. Agree with Hutch, bloody annoying.
  2. I always thought early reports of him signing were strange. I think it was a case of him being aware we had made an approach and he was excited by it. Then we had to agree a fee with his club and then negotiate terms (which we appear to be doing now) and then a medical. I still expect this to materialise before the end of the week or it will be dead in the water
  3. Agree with you on this. We arer a Premier side up against world class players. We should not be blooding rookies from other clubs. The original poster tends to get most things wrong anyway.
  4. Why would supporters or the general public?
  5. As at Wednesday Morning the players have no knowledge of any transfer in's. Words "absolutely nothing heard" was the expression. If the players know nothing I suggest the rumour mill will equally have nothing concrete!
  6. FL - Will you be able to fulfill fixtures? PFC - Yes FL - What about Administration? PFC - We have a CVA in principle FL - Why only in principle? PFC - Because it is dependent on high earners moving on without most of the money we owe them. FL - Are they likely to take this route? PFC - No signs so far FL - So will you be able to fulfill your fixtures? PFC - Good point, we do not know. FL - Come back when you have some certainty and we will consider your prospect of cheating more players out of wages and the world out of more money and taxes.
  7. Assume so, by proxy.
  8. Representing their members.
  9. Parachute payments are to assist the club and not limited to paying wages.
  10. Looks like you are relying too much on the PFA representing the players in an Administration senario as is. If liquidation that is a totally different situation.
  11. Can you show me where PFA will agree to continue to honour contracts including future payments? I thought it was only payments to date of liquidation.
  12. The players will agree a compromise pay off and leave. There will be more pressure put on them during the next 28 days but they will be aware that if PFC 2010 is liquidated they will no longer be a football creditor but unsecure creditors like everyone else other than Chainrai. There is no money if liquidation. Forget the parachute payments if liquidation. The moment PFC 2010 cease to exist the payments cease to be due. PFC will continue under Chainrai or the Trusts hands in Div 1. If it is Chainrai it will be under a CVA and no points deduction. If under the Trust it will be with Birch going to court to take away Chainrai’s charge and the new CVA vote will fail. PFC will carry on but with a points deduction All in my opinion, of course.
  13. Interesting interview with Dawson on Solent Sport this morning. He does not expect to open again this season. He has rediscovered his bowling and is first choice 2nd slip. With that the pressure of opening becomes too much. He and the club see him as an established all rounder and he will now bat at number 5. Makes sense. Now scored a century.
  14. If the club are liquidated then Birch is correct, the creditors (excluding the players) will get nothing. The club has no assets. The parachute payments cease. All players contracts revert to Football League. The ground will have a land value but without any planning permission likely at the time of liquidation it is virtually worthless. HMRC will likely contine to reject a CVA but everybody else, less football creditors, are likely to accept. Prediction - PFC will continue to limp along with or without CVA approval, with or without points deduction BUT only if Chainrai can get rid of the big playing contracts. No mention of the gun running son's property!!!!
  15. I know nothing about this sport. I do know that Cook is one of the best in the world and has already beaten many opponents who are representing their country in the olympics. If the governing body insist on leaving him out (and they have done three times now) we should let them have their way. If their choice fails then they will be proved incompetent as a selection board and Sport England should withdraw future funding in the sport.
  16. I tried twice to renew on line by credit card but it rejected payment. Expiry date on card is 7/12 so that may be the reason. Used my debit card and accepted. Very easy process. Well done Southampton Football Club.
  17. Looked at the YouTube video posted on this thread and he looks the business with good composure. Looked at his stats 15 goals in 36 starts in Championship is decent Shots on target 52 so converts 1 in 3 thereabouts meaning 2 out of 3 saved. Shots off target 61. Lambert, Lallana, Sharp and Connelly had a beter on target than off so his accuracy and composure not so good as the video demonstates. Only 3 assists suggests his mind set it selfish. Not a big problem for an out and out striker but needs to be addressed. May be many of those 61 off target could be converted to goals by team mates (and credit more assists to him) That can be addressed in training/coaching. Overall, young hungry English qualified striker at £7m with add ons. I can see why Adkins wants him. Gets my vote.
  18. Worth recording an excellent 4 days at the Ageas Bowl with a win for Hampshire completing a Championship double against Glamorgan. David Balcombe was my man of the match. Scored some good runs at the tail and bowled Marcus North twice wehn he was well set. North was by far the best batsman on show. Look outfor the name Maxwell. An Aussie paying for South Wilts. Could be one of our overseas player in T20 if complicated contract can be sorted. Spoke to Dimi (and his wife with their delightful 8 month old son) earlier in the week. Fit but having just flown in and short of bowling he never expected to feature against Glamorgan.
  19. He is fine. Wickets do not suit him at present so they are using Dawson as the spinner to create a better balance in the side. He will come good when the wickets get dryer and harder.
  20. Bugger Las Vegas... I have just arrived in Barbados ...Whooo Hooo
  21. Yes Lowe and Cowan appointed them but Mark Fry and his Company would only take it on if Lowe resigned. There was a couple of hours persuasion before Lowe did the right thing. That is why the Administration was not confirmed until 11am aalthough the shares weere suspended overnight
  22. Last season the restaurant was opened as the Shane Warne suite. When I arrived pre season it had been changed to the Ageas Suite. Thought that was a bit strange but I did get a whisper that something was happening the day before the WestIndies game involving former captains. I was told one was Colin Ingleby-Mackenzie which I thought a bit strange as he was dead and the other was to be confirmed. Now it all fits in place. We already have the road named after the Marshalls. We have the Robin Smith Suite, the Shackleton Suite , the Udal Suite, the Richards Suite and Greenidge Suite along with the Aurther Holt Pavillion overlooking the nursery ground. Happy with the two new additions. On a different tact Hampshire are trialing a 23 year old Ausi all rounder Glenn Maxwell who has played for Victoria and the Daredevils in this years IPL! Northants currently 218 for 8 Edit make that 9 Edit again all out for 218. Woods 4 wickets (3 were bowled!) Ervine 3 Griffiths 2 and Balcombe 1. Dawson took 3 catches in the slips.
  23. Good to see your player got a decent run late on and played well Enjoy your evening.
  24. Academy willtake time It is the best 6 in Europe quote that backs Cortese's vision As for stands - Cortese has said all three will happen in close season next year if we maintain Premier status.
  25. The pressure is going to be on him next season. Cortese wants to grow this club. He wants us competing at the highest level in Europe. He will have one of the best 6 Academy set ups in Europe when it is finished. He has already told staff that if we can maintain Premier status next year he will extend Northam, Kingsland and Chapel with another tier. Adkins has a contract until June 2015. He can be part of that success. He is not the finished article but he will learn and adapt As teams evolve through promotion and players are left in a league beyond their means and talent so can the backroom staff. I am sure that was Adkins reflection on a day of massive emotion
