There's a lot on here about the severity of the club's punishment and comparisons with other club's misdemeanours. However, I've seen nothing about Saints breaking the 11th commandment; "thou shalt not get caught". I'm sure similar things happen across the football world; they just haven't been caught.

On the whole, it was a trouble free day. I met plenty of Mancs on the train and in the pub before the match. It was all very good natured tinged with a bit of natural rivalry. Play-offs have nothing to do with clubs, players fans. They are all about money. The old system was fair and rewarde merit. Bottom 3 down, top 3 up.

The current fashion of appointing a head coach rather than a manager is the cause of such malaise. On the whole they are not man managers, leaving the players rudderless. Sport Republic, and plenty other club owners, seem incapable of recruiting for vital staff, players and coaches. The litany of poor and failed managers here and elsewhere is testimony to that. How to correct that before yet another nail in the coffin, I'm not sure.
