  1. I didn't know they did seats on top.
  2. My grandfather, born two years after St Mary's teams first match took me to my first Saints game when I was a nipper.
  3. It could all get spicy if Charlton pip us to promotion by one place.
  4. Never mind about Cortese, the Liebherr ladies were there. That is what really matters.
  5. Ok, but this is a digression. First things first. We never ever got to the bottom of Viafara's teeth. Are they still buried in the pitch? Where are Time Team when they are needed?
  6. Just about what we were all saying this last summer.
  7. Hopefully the paperwork will be advanced so that he can play against Exeter. I'm looking forward to a 100% record this Christmas break. It's a long time since we had that.

Did she teached English? (Sorry, I'm not a grammar Nazi -just couldn't resist it)
  9. Excellent news. Chaplow's always done well for us and he is the busy rottweiler we need in the centre of the pitch. Another important cog in our machine. Onwards and upwards!
  10. We have never been as high as 6th before. Cortese out! Pardew out! oh.
  11. Not if everyone plays to form. But we should be in the Play-off zone if we win.

No. We only buy the better teams best players. Taking Ashley Barnes off Brighton would be more useful.
  13. Well said, d-p. Players , read and take note.

    Lambert?

    or Charlie Austin
  15. I guess you are bunking your Biology/Anatomy lessons
  16. An inappropriate thread title. It is a stunning carving of the Victory, and negative comments really are churlish. As I and many more said when the fist glimpses of the original Ted were seen, sculpting large figure portraits are not his forte, and the fault lies in those selecting him for the job in the first place. There should have been a public competition where sculptors submitted matrices of their proposals. Fortunately Crouch (who most don't have a good word for) rescued the project and paid for the superb Ted in front of the stadium now. Imo SFC missed a trick in not selling miniatures of the original Ted as garden gnomes. But we did enjoy the most classic of all threads. I wish someone had kept it for posterity.
  17. Says it all. "There's kind of a relaxed, professional attitude we know what we want to achieve, but it's about doing those things together and relaxing your mind then the football will follow." said Kelvin (OS) No comment
  18. Bobby Robson drooled with admiration after the exciiting 2-2 draw at home, which was one of the most exciting end to end games I've seen. With Marsden and Oakley controlling midfield Saints had a solid shape, plus the talented skills of so many individuals during the season like Svennson and the quirky runs of Fernandez. Give me that again any time.
  19. Cortese is negotiating with Southampton Corporation to be beneficially involved with their plans to develop part of the riverfront. "Agree with my intentions or I relocate SMS outside Southampton" Negotiating tactics. (Just an uninformed guess)
  20. No pressure, Nige
  21. Of the oldies, Grobbelaar, Rodrigues, Fisher, Melia, and Traynor have to be in there somewhere. But no-one comes near to Dowie.
  22. Witness, Judge and Jury?
  23. A steady, promising beginning. NA says the right things and his teams are doing the right things on the pitch (except score in open play, but that is hardly Nigel's fault because the chances have been created). All except Lambo are looking sharper and fitter and the team are playing for and with each other and look in better shape. How NA gets Lambo energised will be the best measure of the new manager's skill imo. We'll never know if AP's teams would now be higher up in the league than we are at present, though I believe Pardew would have got us promoted via the play-offs despite obvious recurring flaws. But that is speculation and Nigel's teams are ironing out faults which needed to be sorted, and have the better chance of the highest place come the end of season, imho. Where there was despair I now have grounds to be optimistic. I am enjoying the season again.
  24. Yep. Another one to add to the long list of internationals who weren't thought good enough to play for us.
  25. Agree. We surely must have another penalty taker in the team. Lambo needs to be sent to a health farm. He was hopeless today apart from the two splendid penalties, and it's true his other free kick bounced off their keeper and was nearly converted. But on the pitch he looks so unwell. Huffing and puffing whenever he broke into a slow trot. Continually being dispossessed (one nearly leading to a Muffins goal). Just TOO slow to react. Still he did save his energy for the penalties
