Schneiderlin's talent (discussed at length) deserves at least Championship level. This is more of a rough and tumble league and suits Chaplow's aggression in the centre. Morgan gives us alternatives depending on the opposition. I hope we retain Morgan at least till next season when we should be in the CCC and have a few more players alongside him to suit his style. It would be folly to lose him. Our priority this season (if we continue to lack two in-form strikers) is to bulldoze our way to promotion by not conceding or losing too many games.. Millwall did it, so should we. Even with our present complement of players.

If our game at Hartlepool is called off next weekend...

But if we are STH holders and a match is re-arranged to a date we can't make we don't get a refund -
I think it is great that this match is unlikely to be on telly. And I am also very pleased that we are generally of low profile interest to the media (thanks also to Nicola for banning their photographers). They only report negative things, or shopwindow our better players for higher league clubs to snatch. I would rather we quietly edged our way into the CCC under the noses of the press (especially The Sin) and Sky.

Not a bad draw. Winnable and will be a good test of how far we've come this season against a side who this time last year were only mid-table in the Championship - where we aim to be next season. I'm looking forward to it. 20,000 + crowd (at least as many who came to see Saints against the likes of Rochdale and Tranmere, surely.) Blackpool play attractive, attacking football, plus we will want to give Holloway a bloody nose, won't we? We've got nothing to lose. Enjoy.

No, because I disagree with Weston that Gobern was poor and ineffective in the whole of the first half. This is harsh of Gobern, and over-damning of a very reasonable contribution in the first half, with good positioning and link-up play, and he was putting in some sound tackles. The whole team was surprisingly nervous and negative at the start, and misplacing passes, Oscar included, and considering his age and long absence I consider he settled positively into his role well before the end of the first half, which is not quite what Weston posted.

[quote=Weston Saint;902343 Hammond had a good second half. Gobern was poor and ineffective in the first half but his confidence and ability started to show through in the second and good to see him get on the score sheet. Lallana/Hammond my joint men of the match I can't disagree with Lallana as man of the match, with Hammond close. But I strongly disagree with your assessment of Gobern. The whole team had a shaky start. But increasingly Oscar looked assured and dominant in the middle and linked well with Deano, despite one or two mis-passes (the whole team were guilty of that). He was confident going forward and had the ball in the net twice (not sure why the foul was given). He grew in stature as the match progressed. A very successful return to the first team and with his skills, height and athleticism he has a promising future at Saints.

We will only be allocated half of the seats and there will be 50,000 Saints fans demanding tickets. Old Trafford won't be big enough for us (lol)

I wouldn't mind if we did a swap with Mills for Sharp (plus a few wedges). That would solve our Rickie goal famine problem. (Won't happen of course)

Connolly was fit in 2004

We have the second best defence in the league and you are worried about Kelvin.

Matt Le Fryat promising.....?

I think you mean that AOC ran out of energy when he got cramp. He was doing pretty well up to then (despite having two markers). I also wish we could resign Papa. He always was fast and direct and frequently got into the box to score despite rarely starting. His special ability is being alert, quick on his feet and able to turn sharply, which is why many of his goals were scrambled in tight melees. Exactly what we wee missing against Brighton.
-
Yes. Oxo had cramp. Just before Nige had subbed a defender and striker off with two strikers on -a bold move which nearly succeeded. Llalana in the hole was more penetrating though Goolie muffed chances. Butterfield came on to bolster the defence as Brighton were becoming dangerous.
-
Terrific game! We were denied a sure penalty and Brighton's was a wrong call by a biased ref (and Itchen side lino). Thank heavens for Kelvin. And if only Ricky could score again. He had a decent match in a midfield sort of way, but never looked like getting near the goalmouth.

The Liebherrr ladies are the key. So long as they are motivated to keep attending I feel we are going to be ok. They must be keen on Saints to keep travelling over here week after week.
-
Try trousers. And ladies stockings - that's what the Brighton fans will be wearing under theirs.
-
Lallana for me. In a powerful midfield alongside Chaplow, Hammond and Oxo, he dominated his turf, and did some awesome pressurising and swivelling to lose his tacklers and distribute. An inspiration. Had he scored he would have topped the poll. Also, Dickson made a big difference alongside Jaidi, and linked defence to midfield with speedy runs much better than previous defenders imo. He must retain his place.

Whichever way one looks at it, Rickie has been acting unprofessionally and hurting his own best interests. Because he returned to the squad unfit and overweight in the summer. He should have kept himself in better trim condition. He should be motivating himself to the best of his ability in order to attract clubs in higher leagues. This is not happening on the pitch as can be seen most weeks, sadly. We know that players suffer poor form spells and niggling injuries, but this is more than that. It is lack of motivation to do his best. But why?
-
So who covers for them? And you diss Holmes unfairly. He combined well with Connolly and changed the match when he came on recently.
-
On the one hand it will be good experience for Puncheon and he could return in January to be a better and key player in our promotion push. Meanwhile, who covers for Chambo when he has to be rested as he surely must somewhen? He is possibly playing more than he should at his age. But I am heartened if this means that we definitely won't consider any offers for Alex in January.
-
It will be very sad if he leaves because he isn't thought good enough for us by SFC (and our retards in the stands) yet wanted by a higher league club. What a topsy turvy lot of fans and club we are! We're also going to have to hope that our better players like Adam and Oxo aren't taken from us in January too. We'll be a much lesser team. I really hope that we achieve good results before the New Year so that we can convince them that we have an excellent likelihood of promotion this season. We have everything to play for, and much to lose. Be firm and positive Nigel. Be positive everyone.
-
This really should not be necessary. All the team need to be working for each other. We cannot afford a passenger who has to have our best asset doing the donkey work for him.
-
I didn't see the match but have been to every home match. What stands out is that our two main strikers who notched up 40+ goals last season and drove our run to 7th place have only managed 9 goals in open play this season. Lambert is completely out of his depth now especially when marked by two defenders. Barny has only scored four times but give legs to tired old Lambo and they can combine well -but not score enough. So if Nicola wants to save this season he simply MUST bring in a top fast striker in January to replace Lambert -who has to be retired. He has become a liability and his only use will be on the bench to come on late to take penalties IF we reach the play-offs.
-
Our defence is key to this match (to state the obvious). Millwall got to the Championship unspectacularly, but with a sound defence, draws, and low scoring wins. I will be ecstatic with a 1-0 win tomorrow.

Saints are to ground share with skates! latest ..... ....wind up (just joking)
