  1. Chelsea -SFC feeder club.
  2. So the rumours about Terry joining Saints are true
  3. Hooper (again)? http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22871317 Well, our strikers did end the season barren and lacking penetration up front. How do we know that this won't continue in July? I believe competition for places will do them good.
  4. '..points being awarded for positive verbal support' How is that boring?
  5. "We would like to thank those players leaving the Club for all of their efforts whilst representing Southampton, and wish them well with their future careers." I agree. And that includes all. Most of these players have given us some memorable moments and are part of Saints. A difficult time for anyone when their contracts come to an end and I hope each player gets new contracts soon, wherever.
  6. I myself did not describe that as 'robbing'. As we all know, the terms and conditions of sale clearly state (if your eyesight is good): "Venues, dates and kick-off times for matches will be announced in the relevant press, on the club's official website and in the club's Matchday Programme and may be altered at short notice. The club shall have no liability of any nature to any person arising out of or in connection with the alteration of such venue, date or kick-off time." But the question is, why should our club not compensate loyal ticket holders, some living some distance away, when they are unable to attend dates which have been changed at short notice? Theatres and cinemas do. So should all football clubs. You, Mr Cortese, clearly do not agree.
  7. There were several occasions last year (and the years before) when dates and times had been changed to when it was impossible for me to attend. I've not actually been bothered to calculate an average cost to me per match of missed matches but I believe it is significantly more than I would have paid had I not been a season ticket holder. It rankles and I do feel that the club are benefitting twice - on TV monies, and on prepaid games that customers are unable to attend though no fault of theirs. The club really is exploiting loyal fans on this issue. Sometimes it is unavoidable that matches are postponed ie for weather conditions - but it is a fact that the club has calculated additional tV revenues mean changing dates and times (as we all know) are worth inconveniencing its customers (some might put this stronger and use the word 'robbing') however the club is unconcerned. This could not happen with other forms of entertainment ie if theatre performances were postponed customers would automatically be offered refunds. So why not SFC?
  8. I hope not. If he went we might lose at least one of our best players to CL football.
  9. They have other targets now. (If I mentioned anyone in particular they of little insight would rush to 'prove' that he really is a useless no-hoper.)
  10. This RIP Big Ron - the greatest!
  11. The best pie that I have not eaten was at Norwich when 20 minutes before the game started Delia's pies were all sold out. I want to know ho ate them.
  12. Not immediately. But in the long run he would have developed into a better player by continuing his development at Saints. So also would have Theo. That is what a group of Arsenal fans said last December in conversation in London near Waterloo last December. (I had interrupted their moans about Theo at the time)
  13. Saints are not exactly a loyal fan friendly club anymore then.
  14. It no longer seems possible to transfer renewed ST seats after 21st June, so it is not possible to sit with friends or family who can't purchase new ST tickets until 1st July. Not happy with that.
  15. If only.... And also, when games are transferred at the whim of TV coverage, ST holders lose out if they can't make the re-arranged date(s) while the club rakes in the TV money. This surely must be mis-selling.
  16. But it is a massive story. Cortese is not just the stone-hearted businessman-dictator that most believe (perhaps with some reason). He has shown that he really believes in the club. He is committing himself to the future of the club. He could have driven away in his Ferrari but he hasn't. He has convinced Katherina that SFC is a viable business with a future. Had he not, the situation for us could have been in the balance (and a lot of us were worried). That is the story. We have to show our appreciation on Sunday. After a long and successful season, let's see him smile. Because he is a Saint at heart.
  17. Now a cert to score first and the last in injury time
  18. 'There's only one Nicola Cortese'
  19. So " There's only one Nicola Cortese' it is then.
  20. Signed! keep the fight going!
  21. I don't agree. He only got a brief substitution appearance for us in the Premiership at the beginning of the season so we will never really know, and we certainly can't guess that he would not have made a decent Premiership player on that basis. We do know he was top scorer during the pre-season, and he would have been a darn better player than the disappointing Mayuka, who was unwisely brought in so Sharp had to go. Sharp might be as slow as Lambert, but what a goal poacher he was! He would have not scuffed as many shots as we have done in our last three matches. It's a shame that we never saw him pairing upfront with JayRod who had the pace to provide him the service imho. Some say he only scored 10 goals last year in the Championship's but he had been out with injury for half the season, and this year he seems to have fallen out with numpty Davis and is not getting starts. He has had a disappointing year (it's a tough game) and I can only wish him well. If we are relegated we would be better off with him in the squad that Mayuka.
  22. A small section of Saints supporters were chanting UKIP. For goodness sake this was a football match. Keep ALL politics out of football, please. That's what I think.
  23. So we're not talking about the kit, just the logo, and I quite agree with you there. aap3 got a good deal in getting theirs so huge on the front. And I don't like the tacky stuck on technique and definitely prefer integral printing with better alignment. (I agree that the Flybe logo did not align at all well with the stripes.) I too wish aap3 was more discreet. That is (probably) out of our hands, even if fans got up an enormous petition. I have to say that the sanserif type face is not bad, Just the way it has been printed boldy in black with white outlining. Smaller and white out of background shirt colour would be better. On the matter of a logo on a striped shirt the best result would be to have a wide panel in front to contain the whole logo, as we have done in the past. It never looks good over red and white stripes. It is almost illegible if printed in black over stripes, which is why we end up having the logo on a 'stuck on' lookng white horizontal panel over the red and white stripe, whatever the printing method. So messy.
